My Pregnant Contract Wife Ran Away from Me! -
Chapter 55 She Has Someone She Likes
Chapter 55: Chapter 55 She Has Someone She Likes
The thought had scarcely emerged in Fu Chenlie’s mind when he suddenly felt everything made sense.
At the same time, he felt as if he had swallowed a fly, disgusted.
Grandma had actually found a woman whose heart belonged to someone else to be his wife?
And she deluded herself into thinking that woman would bear his child?!
Fury, outrage, anger, his chest was filled with a cacophony of emotions all clamoring loudly.
The hands hanging at his sides were already clenched tightly, unknowingly.
Fu Chenlie’s expression, after several swift changes, suddenly grabbed Wen Ran’s chin and forced her face to him, "I warn you, you are now a member of the Fu Family, and I own you. If you dare let me know you have any involvement with disreputable men, I will make sure you die a horrible death."
She stared back at him with defiant eyes, saying nothing.
Fu Chenlie’s rage instantly flared, "Mute now? Speak!"
Wen Ran pursed her lips and dropped a cool remark, "I know who I am."
He snorted coldly and turned to leave the resting room.
She watched the door of the resting room close slowly, then sat back down in her chair, but her eyes remained red.
She didn’t know how many more inexplicable humiliations and punishments lay in the future, nor if Fu Chenlie would become even more severe. The path ahead was murky; everything was unknown.
Wen Ran felt helpless.
...
Fu Chenlie left the resting room and immediately called his grandma.
The call was answered quickly, and Grandma’s languid voice carried over, "Isn’t it lunchtime? When did my grandson start missing me so much that he calls instead of eating?"
His voice was calm and icy, "Grandma, I have something to ask you."
"Go ahead and ask."
"Did you not investigate thoroughly when you had me marry Wen Ran?"
Grandma was confused, "Investigate what?"
Fu Chenlie restrained his displeasure, "Do you know she has someone she likes?"
The moment those words were out, there was silence on the other end for two seconds, followed by a laugh, "Is that something novel? Isn’t it normal for a young girl in her twenties to have one or two opposite-sex individuals she likes?"
"Normal?"
Scoff.
He laughed out of sheer anger, "In your eyes, it’s normal for me to marry a woman who’s fixated on another man?"
Grandma chided, "Enough, don’t make it sound so unpleasant."
After reproaching him, she continued to reason with him, "So what if Ranran has someone she likes? Don’t you have someone too? Aren’t you always thinking about Jiang Wan Ning? What’s this, officials can start fires but the common people can’t even light a candle?"
"Grandma!"
He called out with a slightly heavier tone, then pushed down his anger to question again, "You knew she was committed to someone else, and yet you still defend her so? And you even want her to have my child?"
"Ah Lie, why do you fuss over these things?"
After the counter-question, Grandma spoke earnestly, "In the end, Ranran is now your wife, and you are the legal husband and wife recognized by the state, she belongs to you and you to her. Even if we take a step back, aren’t you confident enough to make Ranran forget the person she liked before and fall for you? Don’t you have the capability to willingly have a girl as ordinary as Ranran bear your children? My grandson, since when have you lost so much confidence? Is it because you found out after getting married that Ranran is too outstanding, outstanding enough to make you doubt yourself?"
He restrained the rebellion that his Grandma’s words had stirred in his heart, "Don’t try to provoke me using reverse psychology."
Grandma chuckled lightly, "What provocation? If you manage to make Ranran forget her past affection and fall in love with you, that’s to your credit. If you can’t, it doesn’t matter; you can divorce after a year, right? The agreement is very clear, what are you afraid of?"
