Chapter 494: Chapter 494: Don’t Be So Cringy

At five o’clock in the afternoon, Yao Jie’s client confirmed the order and paid the deposit.

After the client left, they also returned to the city.

On the way back, Wen Ran sent a WeChat message to Fu Chenlie: [I’m on my way back to the company now. Are you going to wait for me at the company or should I take the subway home?]

He replied almost instantly: [I’ll wait for you at the company. Let me know when you’re almost here so I can come downstairs.]

She replied with a "mm-hmm" emoji.

When she arrived at the company, it was around 5:40 PM.

As soon as Wen Ran got out of Yao Jie’s car, she saw Fu Chenlie walking out of the company lobby.

He wore a coat over his suit to keep warm, possessing a unique aura, strikingly handsome, and his long legs approached her step by step, giving one an inexplicable sense of reassurance.

Even Yao Jie couldn’t help but remark, "Mr. Fu is really handsome, walking like a male model. Wen Ran, managing to win over a man like Mr. Fu is no easy feat."

She smiled, "Drive home safely. I’ll head off now."

Yao Jie waved goodbye to her and drove away.

Just then, Fu Chenlie walked over, took her hand, and blew on it to warm it, looking at her tenderly, "Is Madam cold?"

"Not cold, the car had heating."

"Let’s go home."

Wen Ran nodded and let him lead her.

The driver was already waiting by, and after they got into the car, it quickly merged into traffic.

As six o’clock approached, it was starting to get dark.

The streetlights outside began to light up one by one.

Wen Ran sat next to Fu Chenlie, wanting to ask about Jiang Wan Ning’s condition but hoping he would tell her voluntarily.

Unfortunately, this man was not the talkative type, and didn’t utter a word at the moment.

Finally, she asked, "Is Jiang Wan Ning’s illness very serious?"

"The doctor said she has at most a year left."

"That bad?"

He responded with an "Hmm."

Wen Ran couldn’t help but furrow her eyebrows, "Then... what do you plan to do?"

The man replied in a deep voice, "I’ve already contacted the best doctors within my ability, and they’ll do their utmost to prolong her life and alleviate her pain."

She turned to look at him, "Is that it?"

"What else?"

"I thought you might give yourself in gratitude for Ms. Wan Ning’s life-saving grace back then."

Fu Chenlie twitched his lips.

He reached out to pull Wen Ran’s shoulder, and after lightly kissing her forehead, he lowered his eyes to look at her fair and delicate face, speaking softly, "My body belongs to Mrs. Fu, I can’t give it to any other woman."

They were very close, and his deep, magnetic voice, not unlike a confession, made Wen Ran’s face instantly warm.

She pushed him and softly reminded, "There’s a driver in front, don’t talk so mushy."

The man chuckled, suggesting, "Shall we continue this conversation at home?"

She pressed her lips, turned her head to look out the window, changing the topic, "Didn’t Ms. Wan Ning ask you for anything?"

Fu Chenlie leaned back against the seat, speaking leisurely, "She hugged me today."

Wen Ran immediately turned her head, "What? Didn’t I tell you to protect yourself?"

"She cried and hugged me, very upset."

"And you let her hug you just because she cried?"

Seeing her anxious expression, he continued, "She suddenly hugged me when I was closing the car door, catching me off guard."

She pressed on, "So she really did hug you."

The man smiled, took her hand, and patiently explained, "I was accidentally hugged for a moment, and once I realized I pushed her away. Nothing happened, okay?"

Wen Ran laughed, "What else did you want to happen?"
