Chapter 466: Chapter 466: She Can’t Wait Any Longer
Wen Ran and Fu Chenlie stood further back, while Jiang Wan Ning stood in front of them.
The elevator was very quiet, and no one was speaking.
Wen Ran appeared calm, but inside she was in turmoil.
Time passed just like that, and the dedicated elevator didn’t stop in the middle. Soon, it stopped at the 15th floor.
After the "ding" sound, Wen Ran watched the elevator doors slowly open and eventually lifted her foot to step out.
Just as she was about to leave, someone suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Wen Ran turned around in surprise.
Fu Chenlie was pressing the elevator button with one hand, pulling her close with the other. He wore a smile that only emerged in intimate moments, and he gave her a light kiss on her forehead. When he spoke, his voice was gentle: "Don’t work too hard on your first day at the new post. If there’s anything, contact me anytime, okay?"
Wen Ran smiled at him: "Alright, don’t worry, hubby."
With those words, she tiptoed and lightly kissed his thin lips, her cheeks slightly flushed as she exited the elevator.
Standing to the side, Jiang Wan Ning caught a glimpse of all their interactions from the corner of her eye.
Fu Chenlie’s current tenderness belonged solely to Wen Ran.
He didn’t even mind flaunting their affection in front of her, showing clearly that he had completely excluded her, his former girlfriend who once saved his life.
Some things, she could no longer wait for.
After the elevator doors closed, Jiang Wan Ning glanced back and saw Fu Chenlie standing like a rock, without any intention of speaking to her. She turned around and took the initiative to speak first: "Ah Lie, I’m sorry."
He gave her a faint glance.
With annoyance written all over her face, she continued: "I didn’t know Xu Tong would sneakily paste that letter and give it to you. I scolded her when she told me she gave you the letter yesterday. If you haven’t read it yet, just burn it, there’s nothing important written on it."
Listening to her finish, his expression finally softened a bit from its initial coldness.
He frowned, his gaze complicated as he looked at her, and after a long while, he spoke: "How’s your illness? Is it stable?"
Jiang Wan Ning looked at him in surprise, full of confusion: "You...you read it?"
"Hmm."
"I...my condition is not good."
Fu Chenlie’s expression changed slightly: "Weren’t you supposed to seek treatment abroad? Why is it still not good after two years?"
She remained silent, as if having difficulty speaking.
As Jiang Wan Ning was finally about to respond, a "ding—" sounded.
The 17th floor had arrived.
The elevator doors slowly opened.
Jiang Wan Ning hesitated: "Forget it, it’s all in the past now. You’re married, so whether I say it or not doesn’t matter. I’ve arrived, I’ll go to work first."
With those words, she decisively stepped out.
Fu Chenlie watched her step out, watched her leave the elevator, and finally couldn’t restrain himself. He pressed the open button.
His deep, unreadable black eyes fixed on her: "Come upstairs with me and make things clear."
...
Five minutes later, in the CEO’s office.
Fu Chenlie and Jiang Wan Ning sat opposite each other on the sofa.
After a brief silence, Jiang Wan Ning studied Fu Chenlie’s expression and slowly spoke: "Ah Lie, what do you want to know?"
"How exactly is your illness?"
"Two years ago, I went to England for treatment, and later I went to the United States, trying many treatments. There was a period when my condition was stable. I was planning to observe for half a year, and if everything was fine, return home. But, later, during a re-examination, the disease relapsed, the cancer cells spread, and the doctor said..."
As she spoke, tears welled up in her eyes, and her voice changed with a nasal tone.
