My Pregnant Contract Wife Ran Away from Me! -

Chapter 454: Chapter 454: I Have My Own Considerations
Lu Jinglun responded indifferently, "She’s the one taking care of those things."
"And you? Just a hands-off manager who doesn’t care about anything?"
"She’s the one who wants to marry me. Isn’t it only right for her to worry about those things?"
Fu Chenlie heard this but didn’t comment.
Looking at the long line of cars outside the windshield, he spoke lightly, "I’m coming to find you now; we’ll talk later."
"Is the Little White Rabbit coming too?"
"She’s taking the teaching qualification exam, not coming."
The other side responded, "Okay, come over."
He gave a sound of acknowledgment.
The phone call ended quickly.
About twenty minutes later, Fu Chenlie arrived at Lu Jinglun’s home.
After entering, Lu Jinglun poured him some tea.
The two sat across from each other on the sofa in the living room.
Fu Chenlie spoke first, "Tonight is your engagement banquet with Ms. Jiang. You won’t mess up again, will you?"
"What do you mean?"
"Wasn’t the last incident with President Huang orchestrated by you?"
Lu Jinglun smiled lightly, "Why does it sound like you’re here to question me? Did the Little White Rabbit send you to probe for Jiang Yan?"
Fu Chenlie immediately denied, "She’s not that unreasonable."
"Oh?"
"Wen Ran knows we’re friends and has never asked me to persuade you about anything. She understands that it’s not right to interfere in others’ affairs."
Lu Jinglun casually glanced at him, "Since it’s not right to interfere in others’ affairs, why did you go after that President Huang?"
The latter sneered coldly, "For Madam’s sake, isn’t that reason enough?"
"The relationship between the Little White Rabbit and Jiang Yan is indeed quite good."
After this reflection, his eyes gained a bit of gossip curiosity, "By the way, when did you start genuinely liking the Little White Rabbit? I remember during the early days of your marriage, you weren’t very keen on her."
"After spending time together, I discovered many qualities in her. Plus, it was initially just a misunderstanding, so it’s not surprising that I grew fond of her."
As he spoke, he glanced at Lu Jinglun, "You don’t have to look at Ms. Jiang like she’s an enemy. You two are going to get engaged and married, becoming husband and wife. Mutual respect is the key to a long-lasting relationship."
"You know I never wanted to get married."
"But now you’re marrying under the pressure of your second uncle. You know it well; if it’s not Ms. Jiang, it’ll be another girl. It doesn’t matter who it is. Your rejection isn’t aimed at Ms. Jiang specifically but at anyone your second uncle might manipulate into marrying you."
Lu Jinglun said nothing.
He lounged lazily on the sofa, pulled out a cigarette, handed it to Fu Chenlie, and lit one for himself.
The man took a hard drag, and as he blew out the smoke rings, he looked at Fu Chenlie and asked, "You started liking the Little White Rabbit, but what about Jiang Wan Ning? Since she’s been back, has she said anything?"
"Nothing."
"Putting her in Fu Group to work, seeing the Little White Rabbit every day—this arrangement isn’t easy to understand."
Fu Chenlie’s eyes darkened as he dropped a comment, "I have my reasons."
The latter chuckled lightly but said nothing more.
Fu Chenlie mentioned he came to ask if there’s anything he could help with the engagement banquet, but since Lu Jinglun, the soon-to-be fiancé of Jiang Yan, was lounging comfortably at home, his friend naturally had nothing to assist with.
He stayed for about an hour and a half, then left when he saw it was time to pick Wen Ran up.
...
Wen Ran finished her exam and saw a message from Fu Chenlie on her phone.
He mentioned that parking outside of the exam venue was difficult, so he was waiting a bit further away. He asked her to text him when she came out so he could drive up to the venue and they could head home together.
She replied to the message, and after leaving the exam venue, she quickly spotted the eye-catching black Bentley.
Wen Ran walked over, opened the car door, and got in.
"How did the exam go?" Fu Chenlie asked her.
She smiled, "Probably not great."
