Chapter 43: Chapter 43 Keep Your Distance
"Yes," she agreed.
"Heh."
Wen Ran didn’t understand what that sound meant, but it seemed like he had finished asking questions. To avoid being inexplicably attacked again, she turned around and walked back to her own turf.
The man watched her retreating figure, an unusual emotion emerging between his brows.
Surprisingly, she had professional aspirations.
It seemed Grandma’s judgment wasn’t as poor as he had imagined.
Wen Ran entered the new driver’s lounge that had been prepared for her.
To her surprise, the lounge was very nice. It had clear glass windows paired with blinds to ensure a degree of privacy. There was even an oversized desk and a swivel chair inside—the chair was in Morandi-pink and white hues, extremely aesthetically pleasing.
In addition, on the desk prepared for her, there was not only a high-beauty-value silver-white computer but also a perfectly shaped cactus, round and incredibly cute.
Other basic facilities like the water dispenser, file rack, pen holder, and notebook were all there.
This was the kind of lounge one could only dream of.
Oh no, this could be called a top-configured office space, one that normally would only be available to a manager.
Wen Ran absolutely loved it.
Now, she would be able to read books here and even use the computer to search for online certification strategies.
She approached, placed the books she was carrying on the desk, and sat down on the swivel chair. When she looked up, she saw Fu Chenlie through the partially opened blinds.
He was on the phone, his left hand holding the mobile to his ear, his expression uninterested as he spoke.
Wen Ran thought that probably due to his long-standing high position, even highly challenging work could no longer stir his emotions.
While he was on the phone, the man was signing documents with a pen in his right hand, his demeanor graceful and elegant.
This scene was picturesque, and in Wen Ran’s eyes, it was quite a delight to behold.
The scene reminded her of Fu Chenlie’s earlier comment about how lucky she was.
Now she felt he was right—it indeed was sheer luck, the kind that stepping in dog poop couldn’t guarantee.
A smile spread across Wen Ran’s face.
Just then, Fu Chenlie finished his call and suddenly looked up. Their gazes collided unexpectedly in the air, one smiling, the other with a darkened face.
Seeing his expressionless face turn glum, she immediately stopped smiling, looked down, and casually picked up a book to flip through.
Then, Wen Ran heard the sound of the blinds closing.
She glanced from the corner of her eye and saw Fu Chenlie outside with a remote control, operating the blinds of her lounge!
Suddenly, she was a bit speechless.
Before she could dwell on her speechlessness, Wen Ran’s phone rang.
It was a call from an unmarked number. Sliding to answer, she said, "Hello, who is this?"
"Little White Rabbit, it’s me. I’m downstairs at Fu Group. Come on down, I’ll take you for a driving lesson."
"Okay, but Mr. Lu, please call me Wen Ran."
Lu Jinglun chuckled lightly: "A name is just a handle, why fuss over it?"
"...Alright."
"Come on down, I’m waiting for you."
Wen Ran responded and stood up to leave the lounge.
Of course, before heading downstairs, she said goodbye to Fu Chenlie, "Boss, Mr. Lu is waiting for me downstairs. I’m off to practice driving?"
He didn’t look up, just indifferently hummed a response, warning her, "Keep your distance when you’re driving."
Wen Ran didn’t understand what he meant by keeping distance: "Under normal circumstances, doesn’t the learner sit in the driver’s seat and the instructor in the passenger seat during driving lessons? There’s no further distance to maintain."
