Chapter 407 Misunderstood
Chapter 407: Chapter 407 Misunderstood
Wen Ran’s drifting thoughts were pulled back by a sentence from Jiang Wan Ning: "Ah Lie, do you remember this restaurant?"
"What about it?"
"This is the restaurant you took me to for the first time after I joined the Fu Group."
Wen Ran listened to Jiang Wan Ning’s words and glanced at Fu Chenlie out of the corner of her eye.
His face was indifferent: "I brought you to this restaurant because it is relatively close to the Fu Group. For convenience, I just picked it randomly."
Jiang Wan Ning’s lips curled: "I see."
With that, she looked tenderly at the man: "To you, it was random, but to me, it was a very special meal. While I was abroad for the past two years, I often missed the taste of this restaurant."
He, meanwhile, was placing food on Wen Ran’s plate as he spoke coldly: "No need to say things like that."
Jiang Wan Ning’s face turned pale, but she eventually remained silent.
Wen Ran picked up the piece of fish Fu Chenlie had put in her bowl, put it in her mouth, and chewed it carefully.
They’d been there for a while, ordered the food, and the dishes were served, yet Jiang Wan Ning hadn’t mentioned anything significant.
She suspected Jiang Wan Ning was intentionally avoiding saying anything, not wanting her to hear about their past.
Whatever, she thought. If she doesn’t want to talk, so be it.
After all, if she can’t hear, Fu Chenlie won’t either.
Halfway through the meal, Fu Chenlie’s phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID, stood up with his phone, and looked down at Wen Ran: "I’m going to take a call. You go ahead and eat."
"Alright," she responded.
After the man left, Wen Ran continued eating.
Sitting across from her, Jiang Wan Ning spoke: "Ms. Wen, Ah Lie seems to treat you well, he’s very considerate."
"It’s okay, I guess."
"But Ah Lie is inherently a cold person, he never bothers to show in public how well he treats a woman. When we were together before, I had to express my needs before he would act."
Wen Ran glanced at her: "Ms. Wan Ning, what exactly do you want to say?"
The latter smirked, wearing a slightly smug expression: "Ms. Wen is a smart person. You should be able to tell that Ah Lie’s tenderness towards you in front of me is to show me. He wants me to regret, to know just how good a man I’ve lost."
Wen Ran smiled faintly: "Ms. Wan Ning, I think you misunderstand."
With that, she put down her utensils and leaned back, calmly watching Jiang Wan Ning: "Firstly, my husband isn’t that childish, he’s considerate of me because he cares. Secondly, it’s clear to me that Ms. Wan Ning already regrets, so how could my husband, a thousand times smarter than me, not see it? He doesn’t need to put on any act for you."
Concluding, Wen Ran summarized: "Ms. Wan Ning, you’ve misinterpreted."
Jiang Wan Ning sneered, speaking smugly: "Whether I’ve misinterpreted, Ms. Wen knows in her heart."
Wen Ran looked at her, saying nothing.
She always seemed so confident, so sure of herself.
Jiang Wan Ning smugly curled her lips, slowly saying: "Ah Lie spent two years searching for me. When he found me abroad, he spared no effort in taking care of me day and night for two consecutive days."
This, presumably, wasn’t a lie.
Her voice continued: "Although I don’t understand why his attitude changed so much after returning to Jiang City, I’m very sure he has me in his heart."
"If you insist on thinking that, I have nothing to say."
"Ms. Wen, I met with you yesterday because I hoped we wouldn’t end things too ugly, since we both love the same man. But if you insist on clinging to Ah Lie, don’t blame me for not being merciful."
