My Pregnant Contract Wife Ran Away from Me! -
Chapter 347: Do You Like Me At All?
Chapter 347: Chapter 347: Do You Like Me At All?
Wen Ran lowered her gaze. "I don’t have careless friends like Lu Jinglun, and I wouldn’t casually end up in bed with a man."
He frowned, his tone laced with dissatisfaction. "The way you’re saying it, are you implying that I casually ended up in bed with you?"
She quickly denied, "No, that’s not what I meant. I just think women should respect themselves."
The man returned to the initial question. "So, if you were unfortunate enough to encounter such a situation, what would you do?"
Wen Ran didn’t understand why he was so hung up on this.
But since he had asked for the second time, she didn’t evade the question further and replied directly, "I’d probably see a doctor."
"You have a husband. Why would you see a doctor?" He seemed displeased.
Her smile was faint. "If I deeply loved my husband, and if he were willing to comfort me, I’d turn to him. But if I didn’t love him that much, I wouldn’t treat him as a mere remedy. I grew up in a small town and haven’t seen much of the world. When it comes to matters between men and women, my mindset is still quite traditional."
After her words settled, Fu Chenlie emphasized with utmost seriousness, "Wen Ran, I don’t see you as a remedy."
She gave a soft "Mm."
He couldn’t discern from her expression whether this "Mm" signified that she believed him, or if she was simply brushing him off.
The man, dissatisfied with this ambiguity, reiterated firmly, "When I touched you, it was because I truly like you, and because I feel an attraction to you. I want to genuinely develop a relationship with you, not merely use you as a remedy. At the same time, even though I desire you deeply, I didn’t cross that final line because I respect you."
Wen Ran gave another soft "Mm."
"I don’t touch just any woman who throws herself at me," he added.
She nodded. "I know. You’ve always been disciplined."
"But I touched you."
"Mm, because you like me."
At that, Wen Ran took a deep breath, meeting his gaze anew. Her almond-shaped eyes carried a boldness tempered by a trace of anticipation. "Fu Chenlie, if liking were measured out of ten, do you like me at least five points?"
He chuckled lightly. "Why are we playing some kind of scoring game now?"
The man didn’t give her a direct answer.
But in her heart, she felt he already had.
Wen Ran maintained the smile on her face. "If it’s not five points, is it three points?"
Fu Chenlie’s gaze darkened.
After about two seconds, he suddenly laughed, his voice warm and indulgent. "Alright, liking is just liking—ten points of liking. Let’s not play such childish games."
As he spoke, he ruffled her hair gently.
Wen Ran curved her lips in a smile. Though she knew he was deflecting, she still persisted with stubborn curiosity. "If we’re not playing childish games, can I still ask you other questions?"
"Of course."
"Even questions related to Ms. Wan Ning?"
The air fell silent for a few seconds.
Wen Ran knew what that silence signified.
She was always measured in her actions, and now wasn’t the time to press him. With a faint smile, she gently moved his hand away from her face, curving her lips into a small grin. "I’m feeling a bit sleepy. Let’s not talk anymore. Time to sleep."
Wen Ran turned in his arms, with her back facing him, and closed her eyes.
It felt like she had disrupted the atmosphere.
Just moments ago, they had shared an intimate connection, and the mood had been tender and warm.
But her insistent probing had ended up upsetting him.
What could she do?
Some people—were real, living presences in his life.
If he truly wanted to try being with her, wouldn’t it be normal to talk about the past?
Perhaps she had underestimated the significance Jiang Wan Ning held in his heart.
