My Pregnant Contract Wife Ran Away from Me!
Chapter 309: Entangled Breaths

Chapter 309: Chapter 309: Entangled Breaths

Wen Ran looked at Fu Chenlie’s handsome and gentle face and suddenly realized that she seemed completely incapable of resisting the visual impact of such a face.

Especially when he spoke to her in a pleasing tone, his words coaxing yet tinged with playful teasing.

Wen Ran instinctively embarked on a mental self-advisory—

She had already explained to Qin Zeyu that she wasn’t the one who sent the message, so if they met again next time, it shouldn’t be awkward, right?

She had paid for hitting Qin Zeyu’s car, so they should be even.

As for Fu Chenlie, while he hadn’t openly apologized, his patience with her and the gifts he sent were pretty much clear indications of his intent to make amends.

Forget it, just let things end on a good note.

Wen Ran looked over at him, let out a soft "Hmm" in acknowledgment, and reached out to take the gift from his hand. But just as she was about to touch it, he abruptly withdrew his hand, leaving her grasp empty.

Wen Ran was instantly both furious and embarrassed, glaring at him.

He stepped closer to her, his thin lips curved in a smile, his voice carrying a mix of helplessness and indulgence: "Angry again?"

"No."

"Good. I just wanted to personally put the necklace on for you."

Hearing this, Wen Ran couldn’t help but feel her heart soften.

Sometimes, she truly felt that Fu Chenlie had mastered the art of capturing people’s hearts.

Her own heart was in turmoil, entirely thanks to him.

He had already taken the necklace out of its box and moved behind her. He circled the necklace around her neck, guiding it to the back, one hand holding the necklace while the other hand gently moved her hair to one side. He lowered his gaze, attentively fastening the clasp.

Wen Ran felt the sensation of his breath brushing against the skin of her neck as he leaned over to put on the necklace. The ticklish sensation made her heart race uncontrollably.

Once the necklace was secured, Fu Chenlie stepped in front of her, nodding with exaggerated seriousness: "Very beautiful."

She met his gaze. "The necklace?"

"You."

"...Oh."

Wen Ran’s heart betrayed her, stirring uncontrollably.

This was the first time he had ever so solemnly called her beautiful. Whether he meant it sincerely or not, she felt herself struggling to endure the impact.

He raised his hand, gently lifting her chin, his striking face gradually drawing closer to hers: "Mrs. Fu, I went abroad the day before yesterday. While you were home, did you miss me?"

Wen Ran’s gaze darted away. "It was just a day; what’s there to miss?"

"Why couldn’t you miss me after just one day? Before that, we spent every day together, inseparable, never apart for more than an hour except when sleeping."

"Oh."

Fu Chenlie leaned his forehead against hers, his voice low and intoxicating as he pressed further: "So, did you miss me?"

Wen Ran pursed her lips. "Stop asking."

"Why?"

"Because asking means no."

He chuckled softly. "So, not asking means yes?"

Listening to his deep, resonant voice, Wen Ran’s heart raced like a drum.

Her heart was beating so fast, it felt as though she might genuinely have fallen for the man standing before her.

But they were still set to divorce. It would be best if she didn’t fall for him!

As Wen Ran reminded herself of this, her lips were suddenly captured.

Without warning, Fu Chenlie kissed her, his movements gentle, deliberate, and gentlemanly. He traced the contours of her lips bit by bit, as if savoring something exquisite.

Her fingers clutched tightly at the fabric of his shirt at his waist. She tilted her head slightly, receiving and responding to his increasingly passionate kiss—she even, for the first time ever, tentatively extended her tongue to meet his.

In that moment, the man’s heart seemed to skip a beat, his entire body stiffening.

Once he realized that Wen Ran was responding to him, he pulled her even closer, his kisses growing more fervent and unrestrained.

Their breaths entwined; the air seemed to grow warmer.

Wen Ran melted into Fu Chenlie’s arms, holding him tighter and tighter. As she breathed in the clean, refreshing masculine scent of him, a thought arose unbidden in her mind—a longing to somehow merge into his very being...
