Chapter 296: Chapter 296: Stop Asking, It’s Annoying
Fu Chenlie’s movement halted in the air, and his gaze darkened a few shades as he glanced at her obliquely, "What do you want?"
Wen Ran pursed her lips, remaining silent.
He stood upright, gazing down at her with an imperious air, "Mrs. Fu, you should know that my patience is limited. Don’t put on an unhappy face in front of me, alright?"
She didn’t respond, but resolutely turned and started walking towards her own room.
As she brushed past him, the man grabbed her wrist and pulled her back in front of him, "Didn’t hear what I said?"
Wen Ran twitched the corner of her mouth but retorted instead of answering, "So what if I heard? Are your words decrees that I must obey? Am I your maid with no right to refuse?"
Fu Chenlie’s eyes were dangerous, "You want to make trouble?"
"It’s not me who wants to cause trouble, it’s you going through my phone, carelessly sending messages to others, acting without considering my feelings, Mr. Fu, I am a living person with my own thoughts and circle of friends. Just because you don’t like someone, doesn’t mean you can just run amok and cut them off from me!"
With that, she looked at her wrist that was being held, forced her way out of his grip, "Don’t talk to me until you apologize!"
Dropping these words, Wen Ran lifted her foot and returned to her room, closing the door with a "bang" and locking it.
Fu Chenlie stood there, snorting coldly to himself.
He quickly took a cigarette out of his pants pocket and lit it, small flames burning ever more fiercely in the depths of his eyes.
Before meeting Wen Ran, there had never been a woman who dared to blatantly show him attitude, let alone demand an apology!
This woman was truly becoming more and more presumptuous!
Downstairs, the doorbell suddenly rang.
Fu Chenlie took a harsh drag of his cigarette and made his way downstairs.
Upon opening the door, he was unsurprised to see Cheng Cheng standing there, holding something in his hands.
He quickly spoke with respect, "Mr. Fu, this is the dinner you ordered. Would you like me to put it on the dining table?"
"No need, you eat it."
"But..."
He’d barely started to speak when Fu Chenlie closed the door with a "snap."
Cheng Cheng looked befuddled.
Why did Mr. Fu’s expression look a bit hurt?
Inside the living room.
Fu Chenlie sat down on the sofa, firstly blacklisting the strange number that had just called, then found Lu Jinglun’s number and dialed it.
The other side answered quickly, "Got home?"
"Mhm."
"How is it, you didn’t argue with Little White Rabbit, did you?"
He hurriedly responded with precision, "We did."
"Ah? Did she cry?"
The man scoffed coldly, "She cries? Shouldn’t I be the one crying?"
Lu Jinglun’s interest peaked immediately, "Oh? Tell me more?"
Fu Chenlie ignored the inquiry and instructed instead, "Send me Jiang Yan’s contact information."
The other side confused, "Why do you want my secretary’s number?"
"Or have her send you Qin Zeyu’s mobile number, then you send it to me."
"What’s this about?"
Fu Chenlie spoke indifferently, "Don’t ask, it’s annoying."
With that, he hung up the phone and lit a second cigarette.
...
After returning to her room, Wen Ran received a reply from Qin Zeyu concerning Fu Chenlie’s message.
[Wen Ran?]
She knew he was confused about why she would suddenly say such a thing or perhaps, judging from what he knew about her, deduced that she hadn’t sent that message.
Wen Ran replied: [Sorry, the message earlier was sent by my husband. He wasn’t too happy about me going out and staying out late.]
Qin Zeyu: [Didn’t you drop your boss back home? You’re at your own place already.]
She hesitated.
Should she tell Qin Zeyu the truth about her relationship with Fu Chenlie?
It seemed there was no need to keep hiding it.
Amidst her hesitation and uncertainty, Qin Zeyu sent another message—
[Your boss, is he your husband?]
