Chapter 290: Chapter 290: Compensation for Emotional Distress
Wen Ran had already answered.
But Fu Chenlie did not seem willing to let the matter rest.
He leaned in, his handsome and imposing face growing larger and larger before her eyes, his gaze deepening as he examined her, his voice even lower, "Mrs. Fu, had you ever been in love before?"
Wen Ran looked into the depths of his eyes and shook her head, "No."
"Really?"
"Mhm."
He curved his lips, seemingly pleased, "So, still very ’clean’?"
Wen Ran’s face changed slightly, not wanting to answer this somewhat vulgar question.
She took a step back, "It’s getting late, I’m a bit tired, and I want to go back to my room to sleep."
The man glanced at his watch, "Seven o’clock in the evening, it’s early. It’s not time to sleep. Plus, you haven’t eaten dinner since you got back, aren’t you hungry?"
"Not hungry." She actually was a bit, but she didn’t want to cook.
Unfortunately, Fu Chenlie didn’t understand her, or rather, didn’t care, blatantly revealing his own desires, "But I am hungry."
Wen Ran replied indifferently, "What can we do about that?"
He immediately suggested, "You cook?"
They held each other’s gaze for a full three seconds before she spoke softly, "Can I not do it?"
"How so? Feeling lazy?"
"Just tired."
The man’s eyes darkened with a hint of sarcasm, "Tired from playing all day?"
Wen Ran stopped talking.
She feared that continuing the conversation would trigger another bout of rage from the man.
He didn’t seem to care, chuckled lightly to himself, and then pulled her by the hand to the sofa, pressing her down to sit, his dark eyes fixed on her face, "I’ve already had Cheng Cheng arrange for dinner to be delivered here, now you only need to be responsible for one thing."
"What’s that?"
"Transferring money to Qin Zeyu."
Wen Ran paused for a moment, then gave an "Oh."
Fu Chenlie let go of her hand and sat down beside her, "Transfer it."
She reminded him, "But... you haven’t given me any money yet."
He gave her a sideways glance, retorting, "Didn’t I give you two million before?"
"I haven’t linked my card yet."
"Fine, I will transfer it to you now."
As Wen Ran saw him take out his phone and begin to operate it, she suddenly felt like a status-less homemaker asking her husband for spending money, feeling a bit unsure of herself and also somewhat embarrassed.
So she looked at him and added, "I’ll link my card later and then return the money to you."
Just as her words finished, the phone chimed, he had already transferred the money.
Fu Chenlie turned to her, smiling and raising an eyebrow, "Return the money to me?"
"Yeah."
"With the money I gave you?"
Wen Ran was silent.
It seemed to be the case.
She didn’t know what to say anymore.
He put down his phone, his hand suddenly resting on her leg, his gaze as deep as a pond, "There’s no need to return the money, Mrs. Fu. As long as you can make me happy, no matter the amount, I am more than willing to offer it with open hands."
Wen Ran glanced at his hand on her leg and furrowed her brow.
In her mind, she had unconsciously conjured up a scene of a greasy middle-aged man touching the thigh of a sexy model.
However, Fu Chenlie was young, and he had a handsome face that could make one infatuated, so the scene was entirely different, at best described as—
A handsome and rich man flirting with his lawful wife.
"What are you daydreaming about?" Seeing her dazed look, Fu Chenlie pinched her thigh.
Wen Ran snapped back to reality, flicked away his hand, and subconsciously shifted to the side of the sofa, reaching down to rub the leg that had been pinched, "Nothing, I will transfer the money to Qin Zeyu now."
"Go ahead."
"Mhm."
It was only when she opened the chat that she realized Fu Chenlie had given her fifty thousand.
Fifty thousand?
Wen Ran glanced at him, "You gave me an extra thirty thousand."
He replied solemnly with a few words, "Compensation for emotional distress."
Her face showed surprise, "What?"
