Chapter 230: Chapter 230 Dismissal on the Grounds of Coveting the Superior’s Position
Ningning was clearly on guard against Wen Ran, tossing off a remark neither lightly nor heavily, "Mr. Fu... is rather a perfectionist."
Wen Ran stepped closer to her, "Stop feeding me this fluff, I want to hear the truth."
The other woman tilted her head to meet her gaze, her expression a mix of a smile and non-smile as she spoke, "You’re not going to tattle to Mr. Fu, are you?"
Wen Ran firmly stated, "Absolutely not! I have a big problem with him."
"Why? Being Mr. Fu’s driver should be okay, shouldn’t it?"
"Not at all."
Ningning looked at her uncomprehendingly, "You’re just a driver; how could Mr. Fu cause trouble over that?"
Wen Ran sighed, "There’s nothing you can’t imagine that he can’t do. See, he even finds fault in a cup of coffee. The secretaries in the President’s office are probably tortured by him on the regular too, aren’t they?"
Ningning, probably emboldened by Wen Ran speaking ill of Fu Chenlie first, began to vent as well, "Ah, if you only knew—the sorrowful tears. You have no idea, we usually don’t dare to give Mr. Fu an extra glance."
"Why?"
"There was a colleague who got fired by Mr. Fu for looking at him once too many, claiming it was coveting a superior."
Wen Ran was aghast, "Ah? Really?"
Ningning chuckled, "Surprised, aren’t you? There’s even worse. A colleague once left out a punctuation mark on a schedule submitted to Mr. Fu, and he straight up demoted and slashed their salary."
Wen Ran, "..."
What a shocker!
Seeing the expression of surprise on Wen Ran’s face that she expected, Ningning smiled.
The coffee was ready, and she handed the cup to her, "I won’t say more. You better hurry up and take this coffee to Mr. Fu, lest he find it unsatisfactory later and fires you too."
"Okay, I’m on it."
"Mhm."
Wen Ran carried the coffee cup, in a daze, to the President’s office door, looking through the glass at the man sitting upright on the sofa. When she thought about the Fu Chenlie she lived with at Huan Island Villa, she simply couldn’t reconcile that he could be so nitpicky.
Fire someone for just an extra glance?
Demote and cut wages over a missing punctuation mark?
If he was so strict, why did he seem so... lenient with her at home?
For the first time, Wen Ran narcissistically thought that maybe in Fu Chenlie’s heart, because of her status as Mrs. Fu, she was indeed somewhat special and deserved different treatment from him.
She pulled her thoughts back, pushed open the office door, walked over to the sofa, and handed him the coffee, "Boss, this is freshly brewed coffee."
"Set it down."
"Okay."
Wen Ran obediently did as told and, as she was about to ask if she could leave, heard the man say, "Go back to your place."
"Yes, Boss." After responding, she quickly turned and headed towards the driver’s lounge.
Tan Qiming glanced at the freshly brewed coffee Wen Ran had made, then at the retreating figure. He noticed a separate area in Fu Chenlie’s office when he saw her walking in a certain direction.
Is this... Wen Ran’s place?
On the glass door of that area, there were five big characters—
Driver’s Lounge.
He raised an eyebrow, quite surprised.
Fu Chenlie’s indifferent voice came at the right moment, "What is President Tan looking at?"
Tan Qiming snapped back to reality, looking at him with a smile, "I didn’t expect Mr. Fu’s office to have a special driver’s lounge, very humane; it’s worth learning from."
"Female drivers are delicate; necessary care is quite reasonable. This also reflects the efforts of Fu Group as an industry leader to provide humanistic care for its employees."
