Chapter 214: Chapter 214 Help Her Carry the Bag

Wen Ran, besides eating lunch, spent almost the entire day in the driver’s lounge reading.

She read and took notes, occasionally watching related online courses on the computer Fu Chenlie had given her.

Just past five-thirty in the afternoon, someone knocked on the door of the driver’s lounge.

Wen Ran turned her head to look.

Fu Chenlie leaned against the doorway, his serene eyes resting upon her as he informed her expressionlessly, "Mrs. Fu, it’s time to clock out."

"Oh, okay."

Wen Ran responded, closed her book, and after a quick tidy up, grabbed her fabric handbag and walked to the door.

Fu Chenlie looked her up and down, then turned away.

Wen Ran called out to him, "Boss—"

The man turned his head, "What?"

"Could you wait for me a moment? I need to use the restroom."

"...Hurry up."

Wen Ran nodded, "Okay."

After responding, she intended to put her bag back in the lounge, but just as her hand touched the doorknob, her arm was seized by Fu Chenlie, "Since when does your lounge have a restroom? I wasn’t aware of that."

Wen Ran looked at the large hand holding hers and met his gaze, "I... I was going to put away my bag."

The man glanced at the cheap fabric bag in her hand and slightly frowned.

The next second, he took the bag from her and slightly curled his lips, "I’ll hold it for you."

Wen Ran was a bit surprised.

She belatedly nodded, turned, and headed toward Fu Chenlie’s lounge, while inwardly unable to help but scoff—

Fu Chenlie carrying her bag?

What kind of ghost story was this?!

This man, ever since he had seriously kissed her at home that day, had changed his personality dramatically.

Three minutes later, Wen Ran came out of the restroom.

She walked up to Fu Chenlie and naturally reached out to take her bag from him, but the man withdrew his hand, avoiding her.

Wen Ran, puzzled, looked at him, "Boss?"

With a thin smile on his lips, he slightly raised his eyebrows as he spoke, "I’ll carry it for Mrs. Fu."

"No need, I can do it myself." She reached again for her bag.

Fu Chenlie dodged again, "I said, I’ll help you."

Wen Ran really wanted to retort with, "Save your concern," but she didn’t dare.

Finally, she pointed in the direction of the CEO’s office and spoke with patience, "Boss, look around, everyone out there is your employee. Doesn’t holding my bag tell everyone we have a special relationship? That’s inappropriate."

"Knowing we have a special relationship, wouldn’t they treat you a bit better, wouldn’t you like that?"

"I usually don’t interact much with them, and when I do, everyone is pretty nice to me. I think maintaining this relationship is great, and I don’t like people being overly cautious around me, mainly because we are secretly married, right? It’s better if just a few people know our relationship, instead of making a big fuss about it."

Fu Chenlie’s flat voice carried a hint of doubt, "You don’t want others to know you’re my wife?"

Wen Ran denied, "No, that’s not it. It’s just unnecessary for some people to know."

As she spoke, she looked at him with innocent eyes, "Or is it that, Boss, by carrying my bag, you now want others to know I’m your wife, to then think I don’t deserve you and target me?"

When the man heard her asking this, he immediately remembered the previous occasion when he took her to the staff canteen and had said,

"I would love for you to be targeted by others."

Now, looking at her downturned eyes, he unconsciously narrowed his own and began to explain, "That’s not what I meant..."

Wen Ran didn’t let him finish speaking and raised her voice, interrupting on her own, "If that’s what you meant, Boss, then I understand, I know I have no right to resist, I’ll just listen to you."
