My Pregnant Contract Wife Ran Away from Me! -
Chapter 151: Truly Disgusting
Chapter 151: Chapter 151: Truly Disgusting
The man was pondering what kind of feelings Wen Ran had for that "Brother Mo Bei" when he heard her nervously interrupt Grandma, "Grandma, let’s not bring up the past."
After she finished speaking, Wen Ran changed the subject, "Grandma, what delicious thing are you planning to make for me today?"
Grandma played coy, "Guess?"
Wen Ran guessed along, "Stewed noodles?"
Stewed noodles was a dish that most people in their town knew how to make; with cool water, add salt to the dough and let it rest for a while. Then roll out the dough, spread oil on it, cut it into long strips, pile them together, and let it rest again. During this process, one could stir-fry the toppings. Once the water boiled, you could pull the noodle strips apart and cook them.
Wen Ran’s favorite noodles to eat were stewed noodles.
Not only were the stewed noodles chewy and fragrant, but they also happened to be the wide noodles that she liked.
Grandma gave her a thumbs up, "My granddaughter is so clever. Just yesterday, I bought some fresh flour. The noodles made from fresh flour will be even chewier. I’ll make them for you today."
"Grandma, you’re the best. I haven’t had them in such a long time; I’m dying for them."
"I’ll go and knead the dough right now, and you and..."
Grandma looked at Fu Chenlie, seemingly pondering how to address him.
Fu Chenlie was just about to remind her that it was okay to just call him Ah Lie when Grandma had already spoken, "Xiao Fu, chat with Xiao Fu for a while."
Wen Ran didn’t really want to be alone with Fu Chenlie.
As soon as Grandma finished speaking, Wen Ran had already stood up, looking at her and saying, "Grandma, let me help you?"
"There isn’t much need for help with kneading the dough; you just sit here."
"All right then."
Grandma got up and went into the kitchen.
In the courtyard, only Wen Ran and Fu Chenlie were left.
There was a brief silence in the air.
For some reason, Wen Ran’s mind conjured up the image of him kissing her hand.
There was a kind of malice in his eyes at the time, tinged with a provocation that seemed to defy her wishes.
Could it be that this was how he acted when he was with Jiang Wan Ning?
It certainly wasn’t, or how could Jiang Wan Ning stand him?
The reason he treated her this way was simply because he didn’t like her. Not liking her meant he did not have to care about her feelings. It didn’t matter if he randomly hurt or bullied her because he didn’t have to worry about her leaving him or anything.
As her thoughts drifted, Fu Chenlie’s voice broke the silence, "Who is Mo Bei?"
Wen Ran snapped back to reality and casually replied, "A neighbor, didn’t Grandma just mention it?"
He looked at her with an amused expression, his tone light but with an almost imperceptible hint of sarcasm, "You used to call someone else Brother Mo Bei?"
"That was when I was a child."
"How disgusting."
Wen Ran, "..."
Couldn’t he just keep his mouth shut if he had nothing to say?
She glared at him, silent.
But then, the man spoke again, "Call me Brother Ah Lie, I want to hear it."
She couldn’t help but curse him, "Are you out of your mind?"
"What did you say?"
"If you want to be called that, go find someone else to do it. I believe many women in Jiang City would be happy to oblige you, not just calling you ’brother,’ even if they had to call you ’dad,’ they’d be willing."
Fu Chenlie leaned back in his chair, exuding a powerful aura that was hard to pinpoint its origin, making Wen Ran almost think she was in his house.
It was clearly her and Grandma’s home.
This man, wherever he went, carried with him a tyranny that was unique to him, incredibly annoying.
After Wen Ran’s words, he continued with ambiguous intent, "You seem to know quite a lot about the other women in Jiang City."
"That’s because I’ve heard a bit about Mr. Fu’s reputation in Jiang City."
"What exactly have you heard?"
She brushed off the question, "Whatever others have said, that’s what I heard."
Fu Chenlie pressed on, "Be specific?"
