My Pregnant Contract Wife Ran Away from Me! -
Chapter 132: Ignore Her
Chapter 132: Chapter 132: Ignore Her
Jiang Yan: "You’re just too thin-skinned. I suggest you look up some techniques online about how to show a man that you love him—put on a little act for Mr. Fu and you’ll get scolded less."
Wen Ran: "What kind of lousy idea is that?!"
Jiang Yan: "Some things might be lousy, but they can be irresistible, like... tofu that’s gone bad but turned into stinky tofu?"
Well, she was at a loss for words.
Wen Ran stared at the ceiling, zoning out, yet somehow, the scene of her sitting on Fu Chenlie’s lap surged into her mind.
It seemed she didn’t despise it as much as she imagined when his calloused fingertips touched her face, and her heart seemed to have harshly throbbed when his lips touched her cheek; she just couldn’t tell whether that was nervousness or...
Something else?
Unable to figure it out, she simply stopped thinking about it.
For the entire morning, Wen Ran holed up in her own room. The book "Comprehensive Quality" was left in Fu Chenlie’s study, and she busied herself with videos related to teacher qualification exams on her phone.
However—
When the clock struck eleven, it was time to start cooking lunch.
Wen Ran’s briefly eased mood instantly tensed up.
What now?
Should she leave her room now?
Would it be awkward if she encountered Fu Chenlie?
She agonized from eleven o’clock sharp to ten past eleven and eventually, with the lame excuse that "he’s still in the study," she convinced herself and obediently went downstairs to cook.
Half an hour later, lunch was ready.
She placed the four dishes she had cooked on the dining table and, while sitting in the dining room, looked towards the direction of the upstairs study only to notice no movement at the door.
Wen Ran pursed her lips, thinking to herself that she definitely wouldn’t go up to call him.
She’d wait another five minutes—if he didn’t come down by then, she would eat alone.
Time ticked by, second by second...
At the third minute of her wait, the door of the upstairs study creaked open from the inside.
Wen Ran immediately looked over.
Fu Chenlie, striding his long legs, walked to the staircase and then stepped down the first step.
She quickly averted her gaze, casually picked up her chopsticks, and leisurely began to eat, but still cast glances at him from the corner of her eye, quietly observing his every move.
Soon, the man entered the dining room.
Wen Ran continued to eat as if nothing was happening.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Fu Chenlie glance coldly at the tableware and rice placed at his usual spot, then elegantly sat down, picked up the utensils, and started eating methodically.
Is that it?
Not going to say a word?!
Wen Ran was inwardly restless, but her face remained silent.
The meal proceeded in considerable silence.
She and Fu Chenlie, though sitting together, seemed to have an unspoken understanding; not once did they both reach for the same dish.
The first to put down his chopsticks was Fu Chenlie.
After setting down his utensils, he elegantly stood up and left the dining room, just as he had come in, without a single word to Wen Ran.
She saw him go upstairs and then retired to the bedroom.
The moment the bedroom door closed, Wen Ran’s tense nerves relaxed, and simultaneously, an indescribable emotion recklessly spread in her heart—it was hard to define the feeling, but it was simply... painful.
He was the first to scold her, so she stopped interacting with him.
Why wouldn’t he interact with her either?
He’s a man; shouldn’t he be the one to give in?
Or is it that Fu Chenlie, despite seeming handsome, mature, and intelligent, is in fact, a very petty man?!
Wen Ran didn’t claim to understand him much, so she couldn’t guess the exact reason.
However, she was determined not to be the one to coax him.
She had already compromised enough times.
Tonight, she would meet Zhao Xiuyun’s parents, and he had plans to dine out with friends. With different times of coming home at night, neither would run into the other. Perfect.
