Chapter 979: 332. Chao, Alpha Company’s offline operations are so professional! - [8/15]_3
Touching Your Poverty: "So, Stick Brother, you actually dreamed an entire vampire lady’s life? Damn, that sounds super creepy. Are you sure it’s just because of an interference from an incomplete feature test that caused the VR headset to emit the wrong brainwaves?"
I feel like you’ve been cursed or something."
Embedded Joy Stick: "Pah, pah, pah, kids will be kids, how can you call that being cursed? Brother Fa explained a whole bunch of scientific principles that went over my head, but they seemed legit, plus I’m planning to get a medical checkup and then perhaps visit a temple that’s known for granting wishes."
Honestly, apart from the dreaming, I don’t feel anything else."
Traveler Little Zhou: "So, Stick Brother, you accidentally stumbled upon the first example of the bloodline pact gameplay? Doesn’t that mean you’ve become the first player vampire with offspring in the game?"
Damn!
Isn’t that freaking awesome!
Considering how much control vampires have over their descendants that we’ve seen so far, couldn’t you do whatever you want?"
Meow King: "It’s worthless. Our dicks don’t even belong to us, what can he, a cyber eunuch, want to do? What can he do? Sigh, some things are better off not had than had and unable to use."

Embedded Joy Stick: "Damn! Could you talk less, please? Brother Fa also mentioned that the storylines of those two NPCs might bug out because of my accidental intervention, so the quest series related to them might be permanently deleted.
Truth be told, I feel a bit guilty... those two girls had it rough."
If what I saw in my dream was real, it’s hard to label them as bad people, yet because of my irresponsible meddling, they’re doomed."
Teranova: "Look at the bright side, Stick Brother! According to your forum post, if you hadn’t intervened, that vampire girl named Melia would’ve been a goner on the spot.
Besides, the dev team is still reviewing it, right? It’s not certain that it will be deleted.
Based on my limited understanding of the testing process, I reckon there’s a decent chance the dev team might retain those two cases as reference samples for observing the player bloodline pact feature in the future. So if you’re lucky enough, you might still be able to keep your offspring, although I suspect the devs might impose some restrictions on you."
Either way, it’s a unique experience, right?
Oh, I wish I had a headset. Hearing all your discussions about it, I’m getting more and more obsessed myself. I didn’t believe this could be real at first..."
Happy Stick chuckled and was about to reply to the bro’s sentiments when he heard the doorbell ring.
Surprised, he took off the VR headset, stood up, and went to the door. Peering through the peephole, he saw several people in suits standing outside.
This made Stick Brother a bit puzzled; he cracked the door and as he gave them a cautious look, the woman at the forefront, in a business suit and sporting short hair with glasses, gave him a warm smile and then pulled out an ID from her jacket to flash in front of him.
Stick Brother took a closer look.
Damn!
Wasn’t that the logo of Alpha Company?
"Hello, test subject code-named ’Embedded Joy Stick,’ we are from Alpha Company’s medical dispatch team, commissioned by the test group to conduct a physical examination and psychological assessment on you following the accidental brainwave interference."
The woman gestured to the medical equipment that the others behind her were carrying and said, quite confidently:
"Please don’t worry, the examination will be completed shortly. Understand that our company needs to assess the physiological and psychological health of all test subjects to guarantee your quality of life."
"???"
Happy Stick’s eyes widened.
He indeed knew that Alpha Company had its medical and hardware divisions, from his conversation with Brother Fa, but he hadn’t anticipated that this "bug" he caused would actually bring Alpha’s operation personnel to his doorstep.
But, you know what, this company really is professional, even providing home services by their staff.
"Alright, alright, come in first and then we’ll talk."
Happy Stick opened the door and welcomed the group into his apartment.
He didn’t doubt the identities of these people, after all, his experience was only vented in forums, and others with no connection to it wouldn’t know anything about it.
Maybe it was actually the "player’s perk" that Brother Fa had especially arranged for him.
Meanwhile, in an office elsewhere, player ID "Border City Prodigal" sat worriedly beside his superior, "Loyal Brother," observing through a pinhole camera the situation inside Happy Stick’s home where a medical examination was taking place.
The experienced and composed Brother Prodigal softly remarked:
"Isn’t this a bit too risky? Commander, we still don’t fully understand what we’re dealing with. Sending people over in disguise might provoke hostility."
"It’s necessary!"
Loyal Brother sat firmly in his chair, his hands interlocked, with a very serious expression.
He said:
"Up until now, all interactions have occurred within that virtual reality setting, and ’Alpha’ hasn’t attempted to interfere with our side. But this ’supernatural phenomenon’ that Happy Stick encountered—if we downplay it, it could harm citizen safety, and if we take it further, we could interpret it as Alpha’s first attempt to disrupt the real world through technological means.
I’m aware of the risks, but we must ensure the safety of the person under surveillance!
That’s our responsibility.
As for how Alpha will react...
Let’s play it by ear!
This could be an opportunity for both sides to engage in some form of unspoken collaboration."
