Chapter 939: 319. Gold and Dead Bones of the Xike Death Domain_2
"Yan Song, and Brother Qu, you two stay outside the city."
Wumeioge had made arrangements as well.
He handed over the green gargoyle’s heart to Brother Qu and instructed:
"After we go in, Yan Song, maintain constant observation of the city’s interior. The moment you spot trouble, you two must immediately ride this thing to rescue us."
"No problem!"
Brother Qu gave an OK gesture.
This guy was increasingly looking the part of a sharpshooter. He’d even picked out a flamboyant cowboy hat to cover half his face, and in a fashion similar to Mother Mary Ann’s classic attire, covered his mouth with a bandana, with a leather ammo belt across his chest and a large-caliber revolver on each side.
His main weapon was a precisely calibrated witch hunting rifle, plus a trench gun custom-ordered from "Iron Hammer Guard" through Mother Mary Ann.
He was armed to the teeth.
As one of the top teams in the game at the moment, Wumeioge knew the importance of being well-prepared. When it came to equipping his brothers, he spared no expense.
This was evident from the "Unbroken" heavy shield and "Invincible" war hammer carried by members of Three Five Battles, which were some of the most elite equipment available in the game, so potent they wouldn’t need to be replaced until the Gold Stage.
Of course, that was also the biggest reason why Stick Brother sought collaboration with Wumeioge for treasure hunting. He had to find players capable of turning the tide at critical moments, and without a doubt, Wumeioge’s Big Bird Team was such a contender.
These guys were expensive, but their cost came with good reason.
"Let’s go, into the city!"
Happy Stick gave the order.
His thirty meticulously selected subordinates and Wumeioge’s group of five mounted their horses and sped toward the ominous, pale daylight-shrouded ruins of Westerburg.
"To be honest, I’m a bit uneasy."
As he saw a large group of "secret treasure hunters" head towards the Land of Death and riches, Brother Qu rubbed his temples and said to Yan Song:
"The closer we get to West Coker City, the more uneasy I feel. It’s like a voice is warning me not to step in, and you know, we’re now believers of Avalon. Father Eugene has repeatedly warned us that the Avalon God will send warnings when His followers are in danger."
"So what can you do about it?"
Yan Song rolled his eyes, took out his beloved magic artifact, and held it in his hand, saying:
"These guys are blinded by gold; they aren’t going to heed any advice right now. Besides, it’s just three days’ death-count for everyone; at worst, we just endure for three days.
Stop talking about that. How’s the stewardess I introduced you to? Didn’t you say your family was urging you to go on blind dates?"
Hearing this question, Brother Qu rolled his eyes helplessly.
He muttered under his breath:
"The stewardess is great, great in every aspect, maybe even too great. But as a match for a blind date... not so good."
"Why?"
Yan Song asked out of curiosity. Brother Qu shrugged and whispered:
"Didn’t I tell you the reason?
She’s too good in bed.
So good that it makes me hesitant to continue. Look, I’m a normal guy, right? I don’t have a habit of wearing a cuckold’s cap or being someone’s fallback guy."
"Tch, old-fashioned! It’s called having zest for life, don’t you understand? But you also make sense, which decent man would want to pick a public bus that’s been passed around?"
---
West Coker City was once the capital of the Transylvania region and the seat of the Posya Confederation’s central government, bearing such a title fully showcased the former wealth and prosperity of this place.
Not to mention, even though it’s now in ruins, the still well-kept city area is three times the size of Crimson Castle.
Of course, from another perspective, comparing which of the two ruins is more intact is obviously a pointless endeavor.
The secret treasure hunters quickly moved through the silent city, galloping their horses down deserted streets, following a safe route planned out by Yan Song.
Along the way, they saw buildings collapsed from the war and strange holes in the stones left by the plague’s erosion, with remnants of chaos from before the city’s fall and some indelible bloodstains on the streets.
But what was unsettling is that in the entire deserted city, they found not a single intact corpse.
It seemed...
As if, after the catastrophe, someone had deliberately "cleaned up" the area.
"I’m feeling a bit creeped out."
Wumeioge, wary, clutched his witch’s wand and imitation holy blade at his waist. As an oak knight destined to become a Red Knight, he passively acquired the Talent of [Junior Weapon Master] after his class change, allowing him to skillfully use various weapons in combat.
Of course, this was just a Talent. It wasn’t the same concept as the "Weapon Master" profession that Brother Cat was currently pursuing.
Once Wumeioge stepped into the ruins of West Coker City, the natural psychic power that always accompanied him weakened significantly. This reduction made it hard for him to perceive the hidden dangers around him, compounding the oak knight’s sense of unease. His four brothers also appeared somewhat neurotically cautious, glancing around them.
Not only them, but even the members of Stick Brother’s team with higher perception attributes couldn’t help but act suspiciously towards the uninhabited derelict buildings, as if a pair of eyes were always watching them from behind those boarded-up windows.
"Dammit! This godforsaken place!"
Happy Stick cursed. He was irritated as well.
This irritability wasn’t just because of the action of knowingly entering a dangerous place; it was also because vampires naturally possessed an acute sense of danger.
