"Equipment and valuables in this game can’t just be spawned randomly, right?"
"Look, most of the monsters near Crimson Castle have been taken care of, but newbies always need a leveling area, and I guess after the Bloodclaw Clan and Smugglers’ Forest, this will become the new area for new players to practice."
"Maybe this new faction was introduced just for that."
"Hmm, that makes sense."
Gebao nodded, and Honorary Knight Tepar next to him also found nothing wrong with this idea.
Hog had been observing them.
Realizing that these highlander warriors were very satisfied with what he offered, the cunning Jackal Tribe Chief immediately stepped forward and said:
"Warriors, we have settled the matter of the spoils, so why not discuss further cooperation?"
"Hmm?"
Dump Truck looked at Hog skeptically, who was only shoulder height to him, and said with suspicion:
"What else do you want to cooperate with us on? Kenbort’s Legion has already collapsed, and you are the only major Wolf People Clan left in Transylvania. Sir Morphy has spared you, so by all accounts, your new life should not be threatened, right?"
"Yes, and it’s very troublesome!"
When this issue was brought up, Hog immediately looked troubled.
He called his "squire" Nash over, and the cunning Wolf People Hunter of the same small stature as Hog immediately came forward with a large sack and spilled its contents on the ground in front of the alien race warriors, following his chieftain’s orders.
A stench immediately assailed them, and amid the cries of "What the hell," the delicate new players instantly pinched their noses and scattered with shrieks, but the veteran players were unaffected, having long since lost their sense of smell in the sewers fighting ghouls in Hell.
The slight smell could not shake their noses of steel, but rather, they were immediately drawn to the "samples" the Wolf People had brought.
"Is this... skeletons?"
Bull Bull looked at the pile of gray bones at his feet.
He crouched down, puzzled, and moved the strange bones with his armored fingers. As a vampire, although weakened by sunlight, he could still detect some cold Spiritual Energy lingering in the cracked bones.
"Yes! Evil spirits! Gold Teeth, the Gnoll diviner of our clan, told me that these spirits come from deep within Smugglers’ Forest near the Polluted Swamp—it’s a Skeleton Army! Very vicious, very powerful, and numerous."
Hog explained to the veterans in the peculiar voice of a Wolf Person:
"I led my people to settle here, intending to lick our wounds before offering our Strength to Sir Morphy’s rule. However, on the first night we camped, we were attacked by these boneheads.
"They have spread throughout the Woodland, causing a great headache for my people.
"Their aggressiveness is strong.
"These past few days, I’ve lost several powerful Barbarian Soldiers. I won’t lie, warriors, if this continues, my Clan will soon no longer be able to hold up. I want to hire you to help us clear these damned bones!
"To reclaim the most fertile area of the Woodland for the Bloodclaw Clan’s great lair."
It was obviously a quest being offered, but the veteran players did not accept immediately.
They were waiting for Bull Bull’s assessment of the skeletons. What caught Bull Bull’s attention was that he saw severely rusted insignias of the Forsythia Cavaliers among these skeletal frames.
That trinket immediately dragged Bull Bull’s thoughts back to the "distant" memory of the night they, the first batch of warriors, ambushed the Forsythia transport team in Smugglers’ Forest.
He remembered clearly that on that night of flashing blades and swords, he personally stabbed three Forsythia Cavaliers with such crests!
Considering that he was now in Smugglers’ Forest and that Hog’s Wolf People Clan was being attacked by a Skeleton Army, a rather terrifying conjecture emerged.
"Fuck! Could this be retribution for our misdeeds?"
Bull Bull said in a private chat with the others:
"Remember the transport team in Smugglers’ Forest ambushed by the young lady’s Midnight Hunters? I now highly suspect that those unclaimed bodies have turned into this Skull Army disrupting the Woodland!
"Just like how we dug a hole in Morlan Village to bury the corpses of villagers and ended up with a ghoul nest, could it be that the initial tutorial storyline has a follow-up?
"Isn’t this development team a bit too meticulous?"
"What?"
Bull Bull’s speculation made the veteran players’ expressions turn weird. If Bull Bull’s guess was right, then the trouble Hog was facing might indeed be the result of their irresponsible actions.
This...
Did the boomerang fly back to hit themselves?
"No!"
A sober Brother Shovel immediately shook his head and refuted:
"Even if it’s just 200 or so people, according to Hog’s words, these skeletons have spread throughout Smugglers’ Forest. Their number must be exaggerated; there is definitely something wrong!"
"So what now?"
Gebao whispered:
"Are we taking this quest or not?"
"Take it!"
Brother Shovel squinted his eyes, looking at the verdant Smugglers’ Forest in front of him, and said with certainty:
"If we dig deeper into this line, there’s bound to be a hidden storyline! I knew the development team wouldn’t just casually set up a new faction without a purpose, maybe Bloodclaw Clan is the leading faction to unlock the hidden storylines. But we can’t just casually accept it...
We need to think of a way to squeeze more benefits out of Hog!
Let’s consider it a ’family silver benefit’ for the new brothers."
