Chapter 910: 309. Here comes the little gamer, goodbye to Hog’s troubles_3
After all, that place is the sacred land of all the Wolf People.
The cunning Chieftain Hog was now extremely annoyed; it was studying some Wolf People tools brought from the Kenbort camp, trying to transform this knowledge from the Barbarians of the Dark Mountain Range into power that could be used by itself, but it was a struggle as the clan had only just relocated and there really were many problems.
Especially the "external threats" made it difficult for him to concentrate.
The report from Nash came at an inconvenient time, immediately interrupting the learning process of the youngsters.
"What are you looking at? Get back to memorizing the script!"
Blood Claw Chieftain Hog suddenly turned to look at the other Wolf People youngsters in his large tent made of wood and cloth. These little rascals were quite clever but found it hard to concentrate, with any little disturbance interrupting whatever they were doing.
Hog wanted them to learn Transian language as quickly as possible, a difficult feat for the grown Barbarian Soldiers, but the youngsters were in the most receptive phase of the short Wolf People lifespan. They could possibly learn it, provided they put in the hard work.
"Anyone who still can’t recite 50 words by tonight will get no meat!"
The chieftain shouted, and over fifty youngsters immediately shrank their heads and obediently ran to a coarse stone slab to practice their language, while Hog himself stepped out of the tent. It looked at Nash, who was as short as itself but also a fine hunter, and said with some impatient whispers:
"Drive those bone monsters away if they come! We have the advantage in numbers, and there’s no need to be afraid of them here on our territory with our traps, but didn’t I tell you not to hunt in those woods infested with skeletons? The Smugglers’ Forest is huge, with game all over the place; why must you provoke them?"
"It wasn’t our intention to provoke them, Chieftain. Today’s hunting Barbarian Soldiers were very disciplined. We only hunted the stupid tree bears and the overpopulated rabbits within the area you designated."
Nash immediately explained:
"The bone monsters invaded our territory on their own! The patrolling sentinels sent us a message, and I led the hunting Barbarian Soldiers to repel the first wave. But the Gnoll secret technician Gold Teeth reported that the earth gave him a warning, that even more bone monsters are running into our land, as if we have poked into their nest.
Chieftain, this can’t continue!
Although the Smugglers’ Forest is abundant and wholly capable of sustaining us, the places infested by those bone monsters leave pollution behind. The soil there becomes cold and barren, with many trees and much of the game already dead.
We can’t allow such a good place to be taken from us."
"I know, I know, but right now we only have enough Barbarian Soldiers for defense,"
Hog was quite troubled.
In its memory, there had never been such a large-scale Skeleton Legion in the Smugglers’ Forest, even during the first half of its life in Transylvania, such a large number of Undead creatures were rarely seen.
Except for the Ghoul horde beneath Cardman City, that horrible place was a man-made disaster.
But the Smugglers’ Forest is three days’ distance from the Crimson Castle; it is simply impossible for the evil power of those Ghouls to affect this area. So how exactly did this Skeleton Legion come to be here?
"When you leave, take some more powerful creatures with you!"
Hog couldn’t help but curse:
"And what do you do? You all brought females over, and they are now responsible for digging and building the campsite on this woodland clearing for the clan. Dammit, now we don’t even have enough hands!"
"It wasn’t me, Chieftain! I’ve always obediently picked very clever and young tribespeople for you."
Nash immediately protested:
"Bringing so many females was not my idea, and I can’t control the several Military Governors under your command. However, Gold Teeth is already recruiting Gnolls.
As long as we have enough Gnolls, our camp can..."
"Chieftain! Chieftain, a group of belligerent Humans has arrived at the outpost ruins on the outskirts of the woodland! They are yelling outside the forest, demanding you come out to give them an explanation."
As Hog and his top general Nash were discussing the "enemy situation", a nimble hunter accompanied by a hyena ran over swiftly to report:
"I saw what seemed to be Vampire-like creatures wrapped up like rice dumplings accompanying them. Should we rally the Barbarian Soldiers for defense?"
"Ha! They have finally come!"
Hog, previously quite worried, cheered up instantly upon hearing people from Crimson Castle had arrived.
With its long wolfish snout curling up as it licked its lips, it cheerfully said with a smile:
"No need, no need. They are the reinforcements I’ve invited. With them, those Skeleton Legions are nothing to worry about."
Nash and the Wolf People hunter beside him looked at each other, puzzled.
They felt as if their Chieftain had gone mad; where in the land of Transylvania did Wolf People ever form alliances with Humans?
"What are you waiting for? Load all the items I separated out of the Treasury onto the carts, then follow me!"
Chieftain Hog clicked the Calculating Pearl on his chest with his fuzzy paws, emitting strange noises proudly, before waggling his balding tail and walking out of the camp.
It had seen in the Crimson Castle’s fighting clubs how Vampires and the Blood Rat Gang dominated over those remarkable and strange "Warriors." It felt it could replicate this efficient "cooperative" model.
It had already tried this at the Kenbort camp. These creatures truly feared nothing; as long as rewards were offered, they dared to do anything...
This was perfect!
Given the current situation of its clan, it needed brave people like this!
