Chapter 808: 275. Follow me! Idiots, I can keep you all alive! _3

"Alright, Chieftain, but I’ve found some good spots,"

the sneaky Nash whispered:

"I saw other clan leaders from several clans digging pits outside their camps to bury their treasures. Some barbarians from Kenbort are also hiding things in the ground. I know where those things are! Maybe we can..."

"Anyway, they won’t be using them anymore. It’s a waste to bury them, and who knows, some human farmer might end up reaping the benefits later on."

"Hmm?"

This suggestion made Hog blink, and it let out a pleased chuckle on the Earth Wolf, saying:

"Very good! Very good, this is the real Nash I want to see, the one who has learned to use the wisdom bestowed upon him by The Master of Hunting. Now take your men and dig! Unearth all those treasures.

We need them to pay our future warriors."

What are you still standing there for?

Get to work!

Van Gore, when you’re recruiting, remember, I only want the smartest of the Wolf People to join us!"

"Actually, the dullest would do just as well, Hog."

The Wolf Person being called was an old and cunning secret technique practitioner.

With a leg broken in a previous brawl and already waiting for death, it was Hog who had brought him back to the clan, so this fellow named ’Van Gore’ was fiercely loyal to Hog.

Leaning on his Bone Staff, he proposed:

"We can’t just want the smartest. The smartest Wolf People are no good in combat! We also need the dullest, the most brawny, and the brainless. They will make excellent barbarian soldiers."

"Right! You’re absolutely correct, but our clan cannot exceed 500 members!"

Hog reminded:

"Smugglers’ Forest can’t support that many Wolf People, and I sure don’t want to deal with those crazy humans and vampires from Transylvania again over food issues.

You are in charge of the selection!

We want the smartest Wolf People to be the brains of the Bloodclaw, and the dullest ones to be our claws. The intelligent females will give birth to even smarter offspring, the more of them the better, but beyond that, we don’t want anyone else!"

Under its command, the entire Bloodclaw Clan sprang into action swiftly.

They were practically the only clan with a clear objective amidst the current chaos of the outlying areas, which made them stand out, even with their smaller numbers, against the backdrop of the other chaotic Wolf People.

As for Hog itself...

It rode the Earth Wolf back and forth along the boundary of the Star Realm’s shadows, like a sentinel and as if on alert.

Hog was clearly waiting for something.

Soon enough, it saw a heavily injured Kenbort guard clad in thick Battle Armor being dragged out of the Star Realm’s shadowy areas by an Earth Wolf.

Hog immediately approached.

"Sir? Sir, are you alright?"

It dismounted the Earth Wolf and rushed over to support the weakened guard, who, coughing up blood, weakly cried out:

"Quick, send reinforcements! King Kenbort needs support! Those damned vampires and their Blood Servants... Dammit! The King is trapped, you! I recognize you, Hog! You miserable cripple, hurry and send support."

"Of course, I will, sir."

Hog whispered softly:

"You rest now. I will spread the news of King Kenbort’s noble death in battle, as you wish."

"Huh?"

The reply made the guard’s eyes widen, but before he could swing his Flail, a venomous Bone Knife slid into the crevices of his armor and circled his thick neck, completely severing his windpipe.

This brutal attack left the guard only capable of hoarsely screaming, but then Hog grabbed a Bone Knife and plunged it into his eye. Under Hog’s feet, the guard convulsed and stared at the wretch, ultimately drawing his last breath in miserable silence.

Hog stared back at him.

His eyes, green and oily, showed no ripples of emotion.

No fear as before, no burden, as if he had done something unremarkable.

"King Kenbort has been slain! He was killed by Vampire Morphy! Run! Those terrible vampires are going to kill us all!"

Minutes later, Hog, having donned the guard’s armor, was riding the Earth Wolf, shouting over the chaotic outskirts of the camp.

His voice was sharp and panicked, and the highly recognizable warlord guard armor he wore made this terrible news spread like a gale across the already chaotic camp.

It was like opening a floodgate!

Under Hog’s satisfied gaze, a large number of Wolf People immediately took their plunder and turned to run.

That’s right!

This was the behavior Hog remembered - the Wolf People looked fierce and powerful but would actually run away at the first sign of trouble, with no loyalty whatsoever.

How did the legendary ’King of Bone Biting’ manage to organize a legion of Wolf People that could sweep the continent?

Alas, the Wolf People had no history books of their own, and Hog still had to learn everything about the King of Bone Biting from human records.

He enjoyed those stories.

He also had to learn the descriptions of the King of Bone Biting in those stories, not just because the strict Sir Morphy would test him, but more importantly, if he had been given a lofty title like ’Grandson of the King of Bone Biting’, then it meant that everything tonight was just the beginning for him.

Could he himself become the heir to the legendary Wolf People?

In the past, he would have been anxious when contemplating this question, but now... heh, why not?
