Chapter 724: 247. Colando’s Malice_3

These grains are sufficient to satiate your soldiers, and can command them to conquer cities and territories for you.

The fertile Kavkhoka plains are close at hand, and the Winter Wolf Legion guarding the place is understaffed. The weak Thorn Vampires, less spirited than the Blood Vultures, are incapable of defending the rich land under the cover of night due to generations of female leadership.

Are you not tempted at all?

An opportunity to equal the achievements of the King of Bone Biting is just ahead..."

"But I am in no hurry."

King Kenbort, who was tearing into the fresh meat, rolled his eyes — a surprisingly human-like expression for a Wolf Person, which was shockingly chilling to witness.

But as a Hunting Priest, he is truly astute enough to comprehend the words of the vampire before him and consider the consequence of his machinations.

Then Kenbort gave a peculiar, mocking laugh, distinctive to Wolf People.

He said:

"I have ’friends.’ My ’friends’ will provide enough food for the pups under my command, in accordance with our previous agreement. Isn’t that right, Lord Colando?"

"Humph."

The vampire named Colando gave a snort.

He stayed hidden in a cloud of shadowy mist, making sure his face was concealed from the Wolf Person general before him. But this Wolf Person’s shameless declarations were comprehensively refuted by the leader of the Wolf Poison Clan and Grey Claw faction.

He disparaged:

"The agreement I made with you is based on you attacking the remnants of the Blood Vulture Clan. But now, you don’t plan on honoring that agreement, so why should I continue to provide you with enough food?

Because of your demands, my small fief in Kato area was stricken with famine.

I even sent my servants to persuade more Wolf People to join you. The sheer number of Barbarian Soldiers under your command is largely due to me!

Kenbort!

Without me, you would still be guarding your pathetic little clan in the Andma Hills, awaiting the ’opportunity’ that I can mercilessly tell you will never arrive.

I don’t expect you to be grateful, but you should have the virtue of fulfilling a contract."

"Are you threatening me?"

Kenbort bared his teeth displeased, blood smeared on his teeth from the freshly eaten meat. He enjoys deer meat but despises human flesh.

He finds human flesh unappetizing. It has a rancid taste and invariably gets stuck in his teeth.

The Wolf Person general’s hand was poised on the triple flail beside him. In the "culture" of Wolf People, this essentially signifies a negotiation breakdown.

"Think about it yourself!

If I cut off the support for you, your massive army will collapse in less than five days! Yes, I am threatening you, Kenbort.

I don’t mind spending money to support you.

But you have to prove to me that my money is being spent effectively. Even throwing money into water makes a sound."

Colando had grown tired of the intelligent but not quite smart enough Wolf Person general, and felt no need to further argue.

He was aware that Kenbort came to Transylvania almost certainly because the Bonebite Clan’s Chieftain had assigned him a secret mission. But the Wolf Poison Vampire had no interest in the mission of the Wolf Person before him, he had his own goals and objectives.

Old Edward had grown wary of the rapidly expanding Grey Claw faction and began enlisting other factions to suppress them, a young but vibrant group.

The old timers are unwilling to give up their territory and power. An ambitious Colando wanting to receive more midnight blessings would have to prove his grand strategy in front of his clansfolk.

Thus, the Blood Vulture Clan, a problem that even Old Edward had not managed to deal with, would serve as an excellent target.

If Colando could personally exterminate the centuries-old enemy of the Wolf Poison Clan, his prestige would reach an apex, possibly even challenge Old Edward head-on.

The Grey Claw leader, Moriarty Colando Gungro, didn’t care for the old traditions of the vampires!

Like many descendants of Wolf Poison, he came from the lower class of Green Island. Before he became a vampire, he had already gained control of the dark regions of a small city while he was still human. When he transformed from a human godfather into a vampire, how could his ambition stop at mere faction leadership?

Most importantly, he had some "personal grudges" with the Blood Vulture Clan.

His most respected descendant, Jopan Mark, was killed by a member of the Blood Vultures, and Jopan was not just a subordinate that he painstakingly nurtured.

He was his illegitimate son from when he was still a human...

Whether as a qualified leader or as an unqualified father, Colando had enough reasons to exact revenge on the Blood Vultures himself.

"Seven days!"

Colando stood up in the midnight shadow and said to Kenbort, who was baring his teeth:

"You must launch a commendable assault within seven days. Otherwise, let’s just each go our own way. You Wolf People, this is really all you’re capable of. Can’t even conquer the minor Crimson Castle, what grand task could I possibly expect of you?"

Having said this, Colando disappeared before the Wolf People general in a fashionably arrogant manner.

This is the style of Wolf Poison — simple, straightforward, and impactful.

Their ’original sin’ is "Fear", and they take pride in mastering fear and projecting it onto others.

Ruthlessness is their virtue, while lack of restraint is their tradition.

They are a group of thugs who advocate acting in thuggish ways. They are hungry wolves under the midnight sky, viewing those who are fearful as delicious blood meals.

Unfortunately, just as Old Edward had predicted, Colando was overly focused on immediate benefits and fast results. He was too brutal and lacked careful consideration. He failed to realize that Wolf People have ranks, and Kenbort before him was not like other Wolf People.

In the end, Colando, who was only transformed thirty years ago, had not actually experienced the Black Disaster.

His body has indeed become one of Wolf Poison, but his understanding of the world still remained at when he was the godfather. The tale of the Black Disaster that has terrified countless people and occurred four times on the continent was nothing more than an old legend to him. He doesn’t have a good understanding of the destruction power of Wolf People and the threat the really powerful individuals among them can pose.

Just as normal people would never fear ants, countless ants, when grouped, can make even the most powerful man struggle like food.

Merely this slight misjudgement is fatal!

From Mr. Colando’s demonstration of his terrifying power, trying to get a Wolf Person from the Bone Biting Clan to fall in line seems to...be missing a bit.
