(Added updates for ’Brother Love to Sleep without Getting Up’ [5/5])
At first, Murphy thought that the ghouls in the sewer of Crimson Castle were just a nuisance waiting to be taken care of, but as the small players’ activities uncovered more complex situations, Murphy realized that the problem was more complicated than he had initially thought.
The exploration activities led by Dust Beaters under his professor’s guidance revealed the true identity of the ghouls’ disaster that very night, causing Murphy some irritation.
He realized that he was not sharp enough.
If he could have uncovered the hidden danger and taken decisive action earlier, perhaps things wouldn’t have escalated to this point.
Hmm, perhaps this is a character issue that needs to be rectified starting now!
That was what he thought.
Hand clenched on the necessary evil, he entered the last area of the upper cavern and summoned the giant wolf George from the Star Realm again with a flip of his wrist.
Reveno was still flying in the underpass, guiding the small players who were escorting the survivors to escape and warning them of the danger. It was Murphy’s eyes and allowed the Lord to oversee everything at all times.
For example, he knew that Lady Cui Si had joined the battlefield, so he had to settle the matter at hand before she arrived.
"Whoosh"
A range scouting spell was cast on the vampire waving a skeleton magic wand and shouting, the feedback information flickered before Murphy’s eyes:
[Name: Vladimir Somerset Zwigg – Plague Rat King]
Rank: Level 20 - Iron Body - Common
Profession: Level 10 Cunning Magician/ Level 7 Coffin Bearer/ Trader - Speculator Specialization

This state is externally applied.]
"I can explain! Hear me out!"
The merchant Zivig, who single-handedly brought about the ghoul disaster in the sewer, was visibly panicking. Despite holding a weapon and being able to control the ghouls with dark magic, the mear sight of the "Master of Crimson Castle" Murphy approaching, and the cold murderous look in his eyes, made him realize his fate.
Even so, he still didn’t give up on the will to live.
He screeched in a voice that betrayed his fear:
"I am your brother! Murphy, I am also Lady Cui Si’s descendent! More than a year ago, on a snowy night, I gave her my wealth in exchange for immortality from suffering any disease.
You have to believe me!
I’m not a bad person!
Everything here didn’t develop as per my will, I’m a victim too!
Yes!
I’m a victim, you saw it! They left me here to die! I was also deceived, please spare me, I swear! I’ll tell you everything you want to know, and everything I still have.
All I want is to survive, nothing more!"
"Plank"
A chair was pulled open, and Murphy sat on it.
Both his hands supporting the humming Necessary Evil, as the giant wolf George stood beside him, baring his teeth at the weak vampire. The wolf could smell the fear in the vampire’s heart, meaning even if he had a little strength, he wouldn’t be able to use it.
This was completely a "prey" or, as he described himself, a "scapegoat"?
"Who deceived you?"
Murphy asked coldly:
"Dusk?"
"Ah, you know about them? That’s great."
Zivig wiped the sweat off his forehead.
He panted, it seemed like even after becoming a vampire, he couldn’t shake off the wheeler-dealer attitude of a merchant.
Seemingly sensing a change in Murphy’s mood, the slick vampire treated it as his last straw and called out in a desperate voice:
"I can tell you, even though they told me I can’t tell anyone, but I don’t have a choice now, I’ll tell you everything, my brother.
All I ask is to be left alive!
I know that some of my actions have caused trouble for your territory, but I can compensate! I have a property and several shops in Charldo Harbor; I can give them all to you.
Those are mere Blood Servants!
Right, they are just insignificant food. We, the Children of Midnight, are noble beings and our lives are far more precious!"
"If you utter another irrelevant word, I assure you George will be having your overly sneaky, probably tough-tasting tongue for tonight’s snack."
Murphy coldly replied.
His words blocked all efforts of Zivig trying to build a relationship. The vampire gave an awkward laugh, tossed the skeleton magic wand he was holding to one side as a symbol of cooperation.
The slightly obese vampire wiped the sweat from his face, speaking as he did:
"Alright, I know what you want to know about Dusk... But let me make it clear in advance, I didn’t know much. As I mentioned, I was the victim. Okay, okay, don’t glare at me, I’ll tell you! More than a year ago, I was just an unlucky guy from Charldo Harbour.
Even though I made some money in the territory of the Half-body Man, I caught a strange disease. I was in such pain, you know?
I could feel death approaching day by day. The clarity and despair of that feeling... I sought help from any power I could find, but death was relentless, it was only until I had given up, did a man provide me with a piece of information.
He told me about a unique vampire in Cardman City in Transylvania called ’Cui Si’. He said, Lady Cui Si can bestow the gift of eternal life under the darkness of night as long as she gets money in return.
