Chapter 494: 171. Your family really knows how to keep secrets_1
Lady Shani and the Thorn Clan’s midnight assault helped Commander Natalie of the White Oak Battle Group quickly break through the main forces of the Circle Tower~s hunting squad. However, besides this hundred-man team, there were still about five hundred others throughout East Prussia and the Transylvanian border region, ambushing members of the White Oak Battle Group.
Although facing one thousand four hundred with only six hundred might seem suicidal, Natalie had previously stated that the Psychic Hunters currently had less than five hundred capable soldiers. The rest were either disabled from long-term warfare or recovering from severe injuries.
They also implemented a divide-and-conquer strategy, which made the current battlefield situation far from optimistic. However, there was still some good news.
The Psychic Hunters weren’t foolish enough to scatter their strongest forces completely. Instead, they set up intercepting contingents in several directions. This meant that half of the five separated Witch Hunter teams manage to cross the blockade without danger and quickly reached the vicinity of Andma Hills.
Yet, if three units successfully crossed the battlefield, it undoubtedly means that the remaining two teams have fallen into the enemy’s encirclement and blockade.
"Hurry up, now!"
Riding on horseback, Happy Stick yelled at psychic hunter recruits who just overcame two joined forces and were now dispersing to chase the broken Transylvanian reinforcements.
"Send these injured to the back, brothers who can still move, follow me quickly. Bull Bull’s and Sister Pomegranate’s teams are being surrounded in the middle."
"Ah, we need to fight again?"
A Chosen Ashman student party administrative player sitting on a rock, panting breathlessly, his clothes soaked in blood. Having just 2 points in strength and without undergoing the Black Iron Trial, he was armed with a crossbow. At his feet laid a new recruit with an arrow stuck in his buttock, which looked like the Chosen Ashman’s work.
He gasped out, "I really can’t run anymore, you guys go."
"You want to desert at this point? Hey, deserters will be court-martialled!"
Khaki Tontita, the sports student by his side, was full of energy. He had just killed five enemies back to back, thanks to his superior equipment, and was now jubilant. He ignored Chosen Ashman’s injury, forcibly pulled him on the horse, and followed Happy Stick to aid their trapped brethren.
This task evidently required horse riding skills, so players who hadn’t learned to ride had to stay behind, responsible for assisting the retreating injured White Oak Battle Group members.
The Witch Hunters who escorted their comrades to this point were no longer talking about grudges with the Old Church warriors and the Blood Servants. After entrusting their comrades to the veterans of the Cardman self-rescue army, they promptly turned their horses around and rushed back with the players, apparently not willing to abandon any of their fellows.
"Where is Sir Morphy! There is a high-level psychic over there. We can’t handle him! We need Sir Morphy to help!"
Little Wei Ming called out to the familiar NPC Maxim while tugging at her horse’s reins. After a quick glance at the translation on the spiritual energy bead, Maxwell said in a low voice, "Sir Morphy, upon realizing his warriors were trapped, has already headed there. He wouldn’t leave you to fight alone... Are you afraid of heights, warrior?"
"Huh?"
Little Wei Ming and Lumina looked at each other, not understanding what this NPC’s hidden agenda was. However, in the next instant, Maxim spread out his massive blood wings inherited from Murphy, grabbed Lumina in one hand and hoisted up Small Wei Ming with the other, and soared high into the sky. With a two-second acceleration to reach sonic speed and a wildly spinning manoeuver to change direction, he rushed towards the distant battlefield.
"Ahhhhhhh!"
Wei Ming and Lumina’s terrified screams echoed through the night, making the players below look towards the sky. Some wondered if terrifying ghost women had appeared on this battlefield, freshly ravaged by warfare. However, a few ’inspired’ troublemakers approached Lady Adel, asking her to take them to support Sir Murphy and their colleagues under various pretexts.
Lady Adel was not aware of these fellows’ sinister intentions, but she still sternly refused them.
Mainly because she had her own mission to stay here and lead the remaining vampires to continue hunting down the wounded soldiers.
Sir Murphy had already ordered, not a single one of the Circle Tower’s culprits was to be left alive this night!
Those who dared to challenge the majesty of Blood Vulture must all die here, to bring peace to the innocent souls in Cardman City who died due to the Circle Tower’s Psychic Rupture Skill.
Simultaneously, the two breakout teams, surrounded by the Psychic Hunters, were forced to merge. The combined forces of both teams barely totaled five hundred, but less than a hundred could still fight. They were facing an attack from three hundred cavalrymen, commanded by two high-level psychics and eight official psychics.
The surroundings of the battlefield were obscured by a war mist unleashed to confuse vision, concealing the Witch Hunters’ natural perception and reducing visibility to less than a meter.
They were apparently determined to kill all the Witch Hunters here.
There were summoners among the psychics on the opposing side, continuously summoning creatures from different dimensions onto the battlefield. Blood-red, skinless dogs equipped with Hellish armour, skeletal vultures wrapped in tattered cloth fluttering in the fog; everything about this possessed the dignity of death, causing the Witch Hunter defenders, who had formed a circular defensive formation, to keep retreating.
