Chapter 1576: 529. E Sister wants a quiet life, but players do not allow it_3
Of course, Adel had not forgotten the most important matter.
She let out a deep breath, clutching the neatly organized documents in her arms, and pushed open the door to Sir Murphy’s office. Despite her best efforts to hide it, her lightened steps were so cheerful that she unknowingly hummed a dark song known only to the Shadow Elves within her heart.
Standing in front of the office, Adel took a deep breath before knocking and then entered. Murphy, who had just returned from Triss’ laboratory, was changing clothes. He removed his trench coat and hung it on the rack, turning back to look at his subordinate—not his offspring—with a satisfied smile.
That gentle and handsome smile stirred a ripple in Lady Adel’s unrestrained heart, and she couldn’t help but respond with a smile of her own to acknowledge his goodwill.
Then, her smile froze.
Dammit!
Had that bottle of Source Blood been left out too long and gone bad?
Why did her heart still race when she saw Sir Murphy?
His damnably handsome smile was like a key that could effortlessly unlock the lock in her heart labeled "devotion" and "desire."
Indeed, that shameful, wanton urge to surrender herself had quietly dissipated; the reserved demeanor of a lady had restored Adel’s composure and propriety. Yet she couldn’t lie to herself—her heart still wavered because of the man in front of her, who was more than a decade younger than herself.
Oh lord...
The only good news for now was that these feelings seemed to remain at the level of admiration and appreciation, still a distance away from blossoming into love.
Thank goodness, there was still hope—no need to prematurely reserve a burial plot in case Lady Triss poisoned her with a dose of malicious Potion one day.
Adel steadied herself. She knew she still had plenty of time to adjust her emotions.
So she said to Murphy, in a matter-of-fact tone:
"Governor, I’ve made my decision to personally lead the foreigners across the marshes toward the Wasteland Mountain front. My destination is my birthplace—I will return to Shadow Valley and recruit my kin to join Transylvania’s venture.
Mrs. Bernice and Diana will accompany me.
However, when my kin arrive in Transylvania, they may need a new territory to start their lives. Some of them will join the Shadow Intelligence Bureau and require formal positions within the ranks."
"Do you have confidence in persuading them?"
Murphy asked sternly, sitting in his chair:
"Didn’t you say that your kin are extremely xenophobic and unwilling to join any organization?"
"They are indeed so."
The Shadow Intelligence Officer, now back to her conservative self, also regained the rationality she once displayed as a steward. In response to Murphy’s inquiry, she said methodically:
"But I believe my kin are not lacking in intelligence. Their current location is too fatal. If they wish to survive, they’ll surely know what choices they must make. In the best-case scenario, I might not even need to persuade them.
Just point out the threat posed by the Black Disaster...
I don’t believe those who have stayed near Wasteland Mountain for a long time remain unaware of what is brewing in the Dark Mountain Range. They can’t fend off the Wolf People—they know it, and so do we!"
"Hmm, I trust your judgment in this matter."
Murphy picked up pen and paper, swiftly writing a Governor’s decree. He flipped over the seal ring and stamped it with his crest, rolled it up, and handed it to Adel.
He said:
"Then I’ll entrust this task entirely to you, Adel. I’ll also be heading to the vicinity of Wasteland Mountain soon to visit the Blood Covenant Clan’s position at Blackflame Mountain Pass, so we can meet there.
Wishing you smooth success in your venture."
The Shadow Intelligence Officer nodded, politely bidding farewell to the Governor before leaving the office. She didn’t mention drinking the Source Blood, and Murphy likewise tacitly refrained from asking.
This was a secret shared between the two.
Just like the relationship between him and Triss—it was a secret that must not be disclosed to anyone.
"Adel seems to have returned to her reassuring steward role from the past. Her mind no longer falters because of the distortion from the Blood Covenant, and I no longer have to bear the guilt of betraying Triss.
That’s truly a relief."
Murphy sat in his chair, smiling as he thought:
"Her eyes are no longer filled with that unsettling, peculiar anticipation. This is good—it saves both of us a lot of awkward trouble. But she will surely be denounced as a traitor by Maxim, potentially even sparking an unnecessary conflict.
My loyal Maxim would never drink Source Blood, no matter what. He’s the kind of subordinate who can only unleash his full potential under the command of a master—a deeply submissive personality."
The Governor looked at his character card with the Blood Covenant list reverted back to [1/3]. He thought of Little Sheron again, and after a few seconds of contemplation, Murphy narrowed his eyes and considered:
"That earlier plan to ’exploit bugs’ for rapid boosts might need to be revisited.
With the Source Blood reserves I have on hand, if used wisely, I can gain enough extra attributes before starting the Silver Tier trial. In doing so, I’ll still maintain my dominant suppression against others in the same tier when I advance to Silver.
I might even become the first Vampire Lord in history to use precious Source Blood as expendables—an advantage even Lord Paryen didn’t possess. I might unlock some strange and hidden achievements.
Then I can accumulate achievement points that can finally be spent on some indulgence—for instance, that damned vending machine and its peculiar snacks to brighten my day.
When Triss completes her Holy Blood procession next May, she’ll bring back a new Sacred Blood Pool for the Blood Vulture Clan. As her darling husband, I’ll make use of the opportunity to acquire another batch of pure Source Blood under the guise of official needs.
This bug can be exploited indefinitely!
Until raw attribute increases hold no further significance for me.
Alright!
That’s what I’ll do.
This will be my exclusive ’level-up strategy’ as a Dog Planner."

Two days later, the revived Silver Moon Group ladies waited outside the city for departure. Accompanying them were the Demon Eight Elites, student players, and Old Qin’s team—a total of 25 people, forming an expedition party.
All of them had shared the "Wolf Blood Hunt" epic quest from Old Qin, along with another group of Shadow Intelligence Bureau-recruited players heading out with them. These players were temporarily managed by the "Hymn of Loyalty" guild. Founded by Loyal Brother, this guild currently had all its members holding official positions within the Shadow Intelligence Bureau.
The remaining members of this "Shadow Expedition Team" were waiting at Wolf Castle.
"Hey! Look quickly—why has Lady Adel changed back to her conservative outfit? She’s even given up on wearing high heels!"
Little Wei Ming, who had been exchanging pet-training tips with Meow Meow Shark, turned around to see Lady Adel’s carriage parked by the roadside. The Shadow Intelligence Officer stepped out, accompanied by her offspring Diana. They would join the players in riding the Wind Eagle to Wolf Castle, and then set out across the marshes.
Male players remained captivated by E Sister’s charm, but the females were more observant.
At Little Wei Ming’s exclamation, "Lady Shui," who had been explaining the doctrines of the Avalon canon to Brother Huozi, suddenly turned her head. Upon seeing Lady Adel’s attire, she furrowed her brows.
"Something’s off! I smell gossip!"
Lady Shui said indignantly:
"Something’s happened to Lady Adel—dammit! Did she break up with Sir Murphy? Hey, this isn’t the kind of third-party drama I want to see in an otherworldly romance series! Nope, I need to find a way to bring her back!"
