Chapter 1555: 522. Vampire Clan - Thorn Branch Opens! - [Monthly Ticket Additional Release 4/10]_3

Just as the players were momentarily stunned from being teleported to the Star Realm, the Star Realm Giant Snake raised its massive body. The Jade Seal applied by Ao glimmered radiantly on its scales, wrapping it in an aura of temporal majesty, as its eyes, burning with the flames of time, fixated on the tiny players below.

It roared:

"In the presence of eternal majesty, do you dare not kneel?"

"Kneel your damn mother!"

Kind-Hearted Shark Uncle turned red-eyed at the sight of the reward, leapt up, cursed loudly, and downed the Last Stand Ale. With scarlet flames ignited by the burning of his life, this guy transformed as theatrically as a Super Saiyan, let out a ferocious howl, and launched a fist straight at Mannis.

Caught off-guard, the Endless One didn’t manage to dodge and took the punch directly to his nostril.

However, due to his colossal size, Shark’s punch didn’t even register as an impact to Mannis—instead, the sheer force of collision sent Shark flying backward with a screech.

But time did indeed freeze for a moment.

The Endless One was genuinely stunned—these small fries actually dared to defy him face-to-face!

He, the almighty Half-God of the Star Realm, and these foreign freaks—they had to be insane!

Still, although Shark’s punch didn’t inflict any damage, the player interface clearly popped up a notification: "Effective Attack +1, War Chronicle +1."

Now every player smiled wickedly.

Like a serial killer spotting their next prey, Cheche laughed maniacally while chugging down his own Last Stand Ale.

The humiliation he had suffered twice from being devoured by Mannis at this moment ignited into a raging inferno of revenge. Even though they couldn’t breach Mannis’s defense, the sheer act of landing a hit felt like victory itself!

"Victory or death! Brothers, see you in the Hall of Valor!"

Cheche let out a bellow as he activated his Last-Ditch Talisman, then dashed toward the now-furious Endless One, glowing like a crimson comet. Behind him, thirty-nine other "comets" followed closely.

The battle was over in a mere ten seconds.

No matter how weakened Mannis was, he was still no match for a group of Black Iron rookies attempting to provoke him. One single Breath of Time was all it took to send everyone to their demise, yet no one considered the players’ final fight meaningless.

Because, ultimately, the tally of effective hits came to an intriguingly symbolic number: "41." The Last-Ditch Talisman’s special corrosive spiritual energy ensured the retaliatory effects could not be evaded, though, admittedly, the damage dealt to Mannis was negligible.

Shark, being bold, scored two effective attacks, while the remaining players all managed one.

But none of that mattered!

Everyone got a reward, and that was enough.

To the players, this was clearly the development team "making things fun," replacing the standard victory chest animation with the Endless One Mannis’s reward stage.

The switch from mundane chest-opening to something truly exciting added a breath of fresh air to victory conditions.

As for death...

Meh, totally meaningless.

If Sir Murphy could summon a creature of Mannis’s level, then regardless of the Endless One’s presence, the Governor could have wiped out the players just the same.

Instead, their final bravado once again left the local audience utterly stunned.

To the players, attacking the world boss was merely an experiment, but even Lady Shani began to feel a sense of awe for their "courage." After all, even she wouldn’t have dared to provoke or attack a Star Realm Half-God under such circumstances.

"When they said they feared absolutely nothing, I honestly thought they were joking..."

The Thorns Duke stared at the forty Calculating Pearls being transported back to the material world and the clinking spiritual dog tags scattered upon the ground. She said dumbfoundedly to Triss, who had a faint smile on her face:

"These people are truly fearless—if the Divine Spirits themselves were to appear, they’d dare to draw their blades."

"Indeed, that’s the quality I respect most about them, even though, to me, their behavior borders on recklessness."

Triss replied calmly before rising to leave.

She intended to check on her darling Murphy in the lounge. Despite the Governor’s claims of "a substantial advantage," with only 15% of his health remaining, he surely hadn’t escaped without wounds.

After Triss departed, amidst the heated discussions on the spectator stands, Lady Shani glanced at Palano by her side and murmured:

"Previously, Murphy suggested that I open a new faction of the Thorn Clan to these foreigners. He said he wanted them to experience some vampire culture beyond the Blood Vulture Clan. Back then, I thought it unnecessary, but after seeing them attack the Endless One just now, I suddenly realized their existence might not be a disadvantage after all."

"However, they only follow Murphy’s commands. If our clan’s orders conflict with Murphy’s will, they could become an unstable force within our ranks."

The Rose Knight replied:

"I admit these foreigners are surprising, and they do seem capable of taking on any task under any circumstances—but Lord Paryen would never tolerate dissenting voices within his clan."

"That’s because the Lord has yet to witness their true worth; I have."

Narrowing her eyes, Lady Shani made a decision and declared:

"Though there’s indeed a risk of them spiraling out of control, as long as I don’t oppose Murphy, their power remains at my disposal... I’ve decided! I’ll give them the chance to serve the Thorn Clan!

Andre’s White Mountain faction happens to need fresh blood as well.

I suspect my offspring, who has lingered in Transylvania for so long, has been waiting for my command.

Ah, a pack of assassins so lethal they wouldn’t even fear Divine Spirits; a rabid group that boldly chants the name ’Hall of Valor’ to initiate their final murderous rush—I can hardly contain my excitement at the thought of them becoming the Thorn Clan’s deadliest blades in the shadow.

The most exquisite part is the ’use-and-discard’ nature they embody.

They care nothing for their own lives—and when used to hurt others, they truly are perfection personified."
