Chapter 1544: 519. Development team, you’ve done all the bad things! - [Monthly ticket extra 2/10]

And in the square, Brother Huozi and Yuan Mou were now distracted by the exotic allure of Transylvania, finding the bustling atmosphere only somewhat akin to the fantasy worlds they had imagined, more a contrast than a replica.

Although the street stalls and the "Charity Gambling King Competition" sign hanging overhead offered a moment of familiarity, as if they were on a pedestrian street back in their own world, the tall Mountain People mingling in the crowd and the plump vampire passersby reminded them that this was indeed the "Real Game" world.

The menacing mercenaries clad in leather armor and carrying weapons seemed to serve as a reminder that the order of this world was not entirely stable.

Brother Huozi lifted his head; he could see Wind Eagles soaring through the sky, the aerial service routes opened by the Mountain People of Transylvania, as the intelligent Wind Eagles always delivered passengers punctually to important strongholds in Transylvania.

"This place has a good vibe, like those areas that are on the mend after a disaster."

Although Yuan Mou was not as well-traveled as Orchid, he considered himself a competent traveler. He turned to Brother Huozi, who was watching the wrestling Mountain People Samurais by the street, and said:

"Though it’s a bit desolate here, you can see the spirit of the locals has recovered quite a bit. You can fake many things, but the smiles on their faces indicate that the situation here is... wait a second!

Brother, look!

There’s a thief!"

"Huh?"

Brother Huozi, nudged by Yuan Mou, immediately turned around.

Following Yuan Mou’s guidance, he indeed spotted several emaciated figures blending into the walking crowd. Their thieving skills were superb, expertly swiping small items from passersby with each contact.

What was even more despicable was that these individuals didn’t spare even children.

Brother Huozi’s brow furrowed as he saw one of the thieves deftly steal a wallet from a child playing by the roadside. He couldn’t stand such acts and wanted to step in, but Yuan Mou stopped him.

"I’ll go first; you block them in the alley over there."

Yuan Mou whispered:

"I’m worried about forcing them that way. I saw on the forums that there are law enforcement officers in Crimson Castle. We can hand them over there. There are only three of them here and they all have small frames; the two of us together should handle it with no problem."

"Alright, but be careful."

Brother Huozi nodded, retreated a few steps without attracting notice, and adjusted his newbie robe as he slipped into the adjacent alley, his movements showing that he must have learned some self-defense techniques and was quite professional at it.

As for Yuan Mou...

His mere physique was enough to ward off most ill-intentioned people in daily life, after all, being born with a strong physique already puts one far ahead at the starting line.

"Hey, buddy! That’s crossing the line."

Yuan Mou stepped forward and, as one of the thieves was about to take something from the purse of a heavily made-up woman, he placed his hand firmly on the thief’s shoulder, causing pain to flash across the thief’s face through his tightening grip.

But more significant than the pain was the fact that their thievery had been discovered.

The thief abruptly shook off Yuan Mou, shooting him an intensely resentful glare before letting out a weird whistle. The rest of the crowd quickly disengaged and retreated.

This spectacle left Yuan Mou somewhat puzzled.

He couldn’t help but wonder why the thieves’ departing gazes were filled with an abnormal "resentment."

But the plan must go on!

Yuan Mou followed a few thieves into the alley. They seemed to realize they were being tailed but weren’t alarmed. Instead, they stopped in a secluded spot after turning a corner in the alley.

Ganging up in formation, they glared viciously at Yuan Mou as he caught up with them, with the leader berating:

"Which turf do you hail from, buddy?"

"I don’t understand you,"

Yuan Mou sighed in helplessness.

He would have liked to communicate with them, but he and Brother Huozi had just entered the game. Without a Spiritual Energy tag or a Calculating Pearl, they couldn’t understand the local language.

However, some things can be understood without the need for words.

As the group rolled up their sleeves and advanced, Yuan Mou exhaled, loosened up his body with a couple of jumps in place, and raised his fists, adopting a boxer’s stance ready for defense and counterattack.

This action made the thieves grind their teeth even harder, and upon the leader’s command, they immediately lunged at him.

The leader took out a small knife, preparing to join the fight from behind, but was unexpectedly knocked down by a tall figure leaping from a nearby low wall, delivering an elbow strike that sent him sprawling to the ground, bloodied and unable to move under Brother Huozi’s surprise assault.

The sight of their leader being attacked caused the rest of the thieves to lose heart.

The main reason was that both of the newcomers were very tall and clearly knew how to work together, suggesting they were not to be tangled with.

"Run! Get back and call for backup! Outsiders have entered Crimson Castle, alert the bosses!"

The leader pinned by Brother Huozi grew desperate, struggling and shouting.

Yuan Mou tried to block their path but only managed to stop two of them; the smallest one ran out crying, obviously terrified and just a teenager.

The more Brother Huozi saw this, the angrier he became.

He could understand that adults sometimes had to engage in immoral acts to survive, but involving children was surely crossing a line, wasn’t it?

His foundation in the real world focused on helping these vulnerable groups. Through years of work, Brother Huozi had witnessed many atrocious deeds, and he knew all too well how criminal organizations treated kidnapped orphans, having seen firsthand that even when those children are rescued, they still face tremendous hardships for the rest of their lives.
