Chapter 1513: 509. Demons Dance Wildly at the Festival of Holy Blood, much to the delight of people of all ages_2
"Don’t you know how much money I make a month?"
"What’s the use of your money? Are you sure you want to talk about money in front of me?"
Little Wei Ming rolled her eyes and, in a Versailles tone, elongated her voice to say:
"Oh, turns out you pity me and thus came to help. No wonder! If you didn’t make it clear, I would’ve thought you fell for me and came to safeguard your future assets."
"Shut up! Can’t even a sugar-coated hawthorn stick block your mouth?"
Xiuhua brandished a big spoon threateningly and said:
"Don’t you have missions to do? Always mooching off me, how could that be right?"
"But I am on a mission!"
Little Wei Ming pointed to a group of little Beans behind her and said:
"Madam Jules said the festival is approaching and asked us to take the children out for a stroll and get a taste of Crimson Castle’s new atmosphere. Look, isn’t Coo Coo Chicken running around with a bunch of bratty kids? That’s his ’Brother Chicken Gang’!
Those little brats have already acknowledged him as their big brother. And when have I ever mooched off you?"
The little rich girl snorted and casually tossed a bag of money in front of Xiuhua. With a grand gesture, she said:
"I’m footing the bill for all the snacks at your stand today. Hurry up and make them! I want to take them back for the other kids at the orphanage to try. Quick!
The customer is the Midnight Mother, get it?"
Xiuhua was so frustrated she didn’t know what to do.
But being a responsible person, Xiuhua couldn’t just shirk the commitment she made and had to prepare more snacks with a stern face for Little Wei Ming, the "notorious loafer of Crimson Castle."
As they were chatting idly, one of the five booths reserved for players in the square had already attracted a crowd. While Little Wei Ming was tasting the different world version of hot dry noodles, a lively sound of music started playing in the background, with locals cheering on the side.
This immediately caught Little Wei Ming’s attention.
She grabbed a handkerchief, carelessly wiped her mouth, left the children at the food stand under Xiuhua’s care, and flapped her wings quickly to join the crowd.
Although she was short, her wings allowed her to occupy a vantage point.
When she got closer, she was astonished to find a stage set with a storyteller’s table that looked the part, complete with a gavel and a folding fan, and a backdrop screen behind it. Painted on this screen was the holy image of God of Nature Avalon, with two spiritless church musicians playing instruments, trying to draw in the crowd.
However, Little Wei Ming felt that she had seen the strange composition on the screen somewhere before—a radiant Avalon was depicted using a casserole-sized fist to grab a dark little imp and punching it fiercely.
A few seconds later, a bewildered Little Wei Minh clapped her hands in enlightenment and exclaimed:
"Isn’t this an illustration of Wu Song fighting the tiger? Damn, these lunatics aren’t afraid of getting into trouble for altering religious texts like this!"
In the midst of her exclamations, Ring Attack, dressed in a Priest’s robe of Avalon, walked leisurely to the back of the storyteller’s table with his hands behind his back. He gave a ceremonious bow to all sides amidst the applause of the crowd, cleared his throat with a sip of tea, then snapped open the paper fan in his hand and, with a dramatic tone, announced:
"Thank you all, old and young, who trust in the faith of Avalon for joining us today. We continue with ’The Canon of the Church: Code of the White Knight’. Today, we are on Chapter 7! Little Anpo is exiled to Sax, Natalie causes uproar in the recruit camp!
Heh, after that group of tyrants from Golden Flower slaughtered the Sanctuary in Antani District and captured a bunch of innocent believers, including Little Anpo, shackling them as criminals to be taken to Sax.
Do our dear audience members know what the Goldenrod People do in Sax?
They’re involved in those shadowy, vile deeds. They not only capture innocent believers but also seize the simple Mountain People who have always been at odds with them, using them as slaves. But these scoundrels don’t want to get their own hands dirty or spill blood, so they use the innocent, like Little Anpo, as cannon fodder to attack the Mountain People’s fortresses.
But as they say, coincidences happen for a reason.
Just as Little Anpo was being sent to Sax, the daughter of the last White Knight, Saint Old Feinock, Miss Natalie, was also wrongly imprisoned and just so happened to be laboring in Sax.
Speaking of Old Feinock, the old readers surely understand!
This last White Knight has a majestic stature and impressive looks. His eyes shine like cold stars, his brows as though painted with lacquer. Broad chested and with the grandeur that none can rival; his words lofty, voicing the ambition that stretches thousands of miles into the sky.
As valiant as a heaven-shaking lion descending from the clouds!
Indeed, he’s as fierce as a dragon and as powerful as a tiger! And the verse goes, ’Like a devil descending from heaven, like a deity of the earth’s age...’"
"What the heck!"
Little Wei Ming was dumbfounded amidst the crowd.
Isn’t this just blatantly using the words from ’Water Margin’ to describe local characters?
And you even copied the adjectives!
But that’s not right, is it?
These descriptions are clearly meant for Wu Song, yet in your story, isn’t Old Feinock supposed to be more like the archetype from Master Lu? You’re just counting on different world people not having read ’Water Margin’, right?
Hey!
You mess of a storyteller, fix it!
But regardless of her internal rant, the general public just loved this kind of storytelling.
Especially in a place like Transylvania with its fierce local customs, stories like ’Water Margin’ were completely embraced, even evoking a strange sense of identification. After all, who among the tough characters who have survived to the present day doesn’t have a small hobby of gathering a crowd for a casual robbery now and then?
