Chapter 1484: 500. Hog’s Ghostly Task Number Two
Murphy acquired a Thermal Warblade that was part of the "Wayfarer’s" personal security gear. Considering that even the manual for this security gear noted that it was not a high-end product, it did not even have a specific name.
This wouldn’t do.
Therefore, the Vampire Lord, utilizing his smart wits blessed by the Midnight Mother, named his new sword "Fire Fang," and as expected, faced disdain from Lady Triss.
Although in a sense this artifact belonged to the category of "black technology" and was a mass-produced marvel, whether in terms of attributes or special effects, it was far inferior to things like "Necessary Evil," the likes of which were crafted manually through [Data Deleted]. However, even the crummiest marvel is something that the current era cannot analyze or reproduce.
It’s not to say that this Melt Sword was necessarily better than various Psychic Weapons crafted by the craftsmen of the Continent, let alone when compared to the Divine weapons like Griffin that Kudell wielded. But having the label of a "miracle creation" obviously greatly enhanced the collectible value of this item.
Maxim was clearly aware of the value of this batch of weapons and armor.
The loyal General did not even deploy his troops. Instead, he flew three round trips from the Polluted Swamp to Crimson Castle by himself and even brought Adel with him to deliver all the armor and weapons from the armory back to the Blood Vulture treasury before dawn.
When Adel inquired about Murphy’s whereabouts, Maxim earnestly replied that their master was contemplating the mysteries left by the creator. This instilled a solemn respect in Lady Adel, who was somewhat scheming in her heart, and she inquired no further.
However, the truth was that Murphy spent the rest of the night luxuriously bathing in the private bathroom of the exhibition hall’s curator and then, dressed in cozy pajamas, he slipped into an undisturbed slumber on the comfortable bed.
The bed with the perfect firmness and the automatic flushing toilet moved Murphy greatly, feelings that could hardly be understood by anyone who hasn’t experienced time-traveling to the medieval era.
For Murphy, it was a wondrous night of "dreaming of bygone days."
Even falling asleep after snacking on junk food carried a certain "ritualistic" quality for him. The only imperfection was that Triss declined his invitation to bathe together; the Blood Vulture Duke obviously had more interest in the legacies of the creator than engaging in some naughty activities with his own little Mo Fei.
This left Murphy with some regret.
But he was not disappointed, for everything was going according to plan. With the current progress, it would only be a matter of time before he would win over Triss!
Of course, the Crimson Witch was a fairy who knew very well how to appease Murphy’s disappointment, especially when the half-awake Murphy saw Triss, dressed in the "Wayfarer’s" gear, swaying towards him—a feast for the eyes of the Vampire Lord.
After all, the gear was good in every aspect except for its style of being a skintight suit. Once worn, it clung to the body, making it perfect as an undergarment, but when worn by a siren like Triss, who was over four hundred years old, it transformed in an instant from a serious personal security device into some kind of fetish wear...
Murphy nearly lost his composure.
But considering that his strength was still a "tiny bit" behind Triss’s, Murphy sensibly maintained the demeanor of the Midnight Gentleman and did not attempt any overbearing advances.
This restraint made the Witch yet more satisfied with him.
She knew better than anyone...
The last barrier between her and Murphy could be breached at any moment, but after all, Triss was not an ignorant teenage girl. She was very aware of the trouble she carried, and before the potential crises and shadows dissipated, she did not plan to throw little Mo Fei into a worse situation just for fleeting pleasure.
Nevertheless, the Vampire Lord still spent a very "fulfilling" night tinged with crimson and intimate time for two, his only thought being...
The craft of the Alchemy Masters truly reached the pinnacle.
---
While the Vampire Lord was enjoying the nocturnal pleasures, another sleepless soul resided within the same swamp.
Chieftain Hog did not stay in his safe Smugglers’ Forest, but almost continuously risked being attacked by roaming skeletal undead to stay here after the fall of the plague-ridden town.
He entered into a costly contract with the students, trading an amount of money that could bankrupt his Bloodclaw Clan, to obtain actual control over the ruins of Wolf Castle.
From the perspective of the typical wild way of thinking held by the Wolf People, Chieftain Hog seemed to have made a poor deal, but he did not see it that way.
He even couldn’t be bothered to explain too much to those short-sighted members of his clan. After all, he was the Chieftain and "deeply beloved by the people." He did whatever he wanted, and as long as he kept his people fed, no Wolf Person would oppose him.
The smart ones who could understand Hog’s intentions, like Nash, had already been sent back to the forest to "manage the big picture." The "elite" of the clan were being gathered by Nash. Once the clean-up of Wolf Castle was finished and reconstruction began, these Wolf People would be immediately brought over to help Chieftain Hog quickly establish dominance around Wolf Castle.
As the clean-up speed was previously slow due to the presence of the Swamp Giant Snake, now that Oru had left, the Gnoll laborers’ efficiency had soared.
With a contented gaze, Chieftain Hog felt that all he needed was a few more days before he could gloriously take over the entirety of Wolf Castle and use it as a core area to begin exerting the Bloodclaw Clan’s influence over the Polluted Swamp.
