"Perhaps."
Major Dune, with a rather delicate face, was carrying a command saber. He glanced at Colonel Fraser, who was observing the battlefield through a telescope not far away, and said in a low voice:
"But now I understand where the Marshal and Fraser’s concerns about the people of Transia come from. Facing such enemies on the battlefield is indeed troublesome. However, at least for now, they stand as our allies against the Wolf People.
It’s a strangely reassuring feeling."
Our western front received fire support from the Pioneer Leader, allowing us to take down a quarter of the enemy’s position after just one charge.
The progress cannot be described as anything but significant, yet we were not the fastest advancing front.
Despite the fact that Stick Brother’s northern front also had the Thorn Night Walkers participating, and under Stick Brother’s command almost a fifth of the undead command nodes were cleared in advance, the southern defense still had the fastest breakthrough.
That madman Brother Meow threw all three thousand of his Treants into the battlefield in one go!
This directly led to the number of warriors on our side bizarrely surpassing the specters and Necromancers stationed opposite us. Having a numerical advantage was nearly unthinkable in previous battles, but now it has been strangely achieved through "development and operation."
Brother Meow, seeing the battle progress smoothly, took on the role of a vanguard in this fight!
Riding his demon-hunting steed and wielding the Vam Decapitator, he charged to the forefront, invoking the name of Avalon as he slaughtered wildly. The legendary blade was like a hot knife through butter, splitting everything in two, whether it was a heavy shield or Spiritual Energy.
The scene was extremely violent.
The reserve Red Knight, caught up in the thrill of the kill, even activated his Fury and led a group of aroused Bloodwood Treemen as his Escort, shouting crazy praises for the "Supreme Avalon" like a humanoid monster.
Wherever he charged, that part of the defensive line would quickly collapse.
However, this scene seemed somewhat bizarre to the Holy Knights who were watching from the rear.
"A nature worshipper wielding a Barbarian Divine Artifact, shouting the name of Avalon’s god under the gaze of The Fury Vam - isn’t this some kind of NTR?"
Uncle Fuding severely criticized.
This middle-aged Knight with a strong sense of pride clearly did not want to let Brother Meow steal all the thunder. He quickly led his Knights to the front line and, invoking the name of Holy Light, began to eradicate the wicked.
The multitude of Treants acted as fodder in the front, allowing the players to unleash all their powers without constraints.
Little Wei Ming and Sister Pomegranate seemed to have been inspired by their previous bombing actions. The two vampires flew constantly over the undead’s positions on both flanks, dropping bombs from their bags without ceasing.
Little Brother Fu and his Scorpion Lion also followed suit.
However, it was a pity that there were many spectral and resentful spirits in their area—creatures without a physical body—resulting in a rather poor effect from the bombing, only creating impressive light and shadow.
But that didn’t matter. With such efficient progress, two hours later, the southern front finally became the first player team to break through the last defenses of Pestilence Town.
They paid the price of over eight hundred Treants’ sacrifice to painstakingly breach the enemy’s position, and in the midst of Brother Meow’s frenzied assault, they successfully used the remaining explosives to completely demolish Pestilence Town’s southern gate.
The routed resentful spirits and Necromancers, seeing the situation turning sour, fled into the surrounding swamps. No one pursued them, and players surged in waves, taking down the dungeon’s gate.
But after that, they couldn’t move forward!
Because the defenses of the Wizard Tower had been activated, and a tangible, semi-transparent barrier of Spiritual Energy blocked them like a city wall from entering the interior of Pestilence Town.
However, soon after, Miss Phemys, acting as the "dungeon raid guide," appeared on the southern front still bearing traces of battle.
Phemys looked around at the messy battleground and then at the new players who were eagerly hunting down elite monsters. Finally, she turned to Brother Meow, sitting on the ground catching his breath, and the girls from the Silver Moon Group.
Miss Phemys, fully aware that she was an NPC, wasn’t nervous at all during her first proactive role-playing as an NPC. With a serious expression, she confirmed:
"Are you really decided on immediately commencing the attack on Pestilent Town? I think you should rest for a bit."
"No need!"
The fiercely energetic yet highly weakened Brother Meow munched on a Witch Hunter elixir like it was a jelly bean, suffering from its weird taste as he gestured and said:
"Our lead is only temporary!
The other two battlefronts will soon break through their blockades, and we must seize this advantage. Miss, please start the Spiritual Energy countermeasures immediately.
We intend to surge into Pestilent Town and utterly eradicate the sins here.
I feel like I can hear Avalon’s Boss whispering to me, expressing great dissatisfaction with the filth here; we must fulfill the Divine Spirit’s will."
"I think it’s more likely that you’re hearing things because you’re too exhausted."
Phemys retorted.
But seeing the players’ high spirits, she didn’t push further and promptly began the Spiritual Energy countermeasures ritual at the southern position.
There isn’t much to say about the process. Phemys had prepared for a while and, with Triss’s guidance, made some procedural improvements on the spell level, which allowed her to accurately find the connection nodes between the Wizard Tower and the swamp’s Spiritual Energy in just ten minutes. She was able to breach the spiritual defenses of the southern region of Pestilent Town successfully by dispersing and blocking the unique crimson spiritual illumination of the Night Howling Staff.
The dense spiritual barrier shattered like glass and soon dissipated, revealing an entrance. Brother Meow, full of vigor and carrying the Vam Executioner, rushed in with a roar, too swiftly for anyone to stop him.
But there was no need to stop him.
Because three seconds later, Brother Meow was kicked out, howling and twirling, landing in a heap at Sister Pomegranate’s feet and even crushing a rock, looking utterly disheveled.
Sister Pomegranate and the others looked up to see a familiar tall figure standing atop a dozen or so stairs.
"Crap! Isn’t that Kenbort?"
Little Wei Ming shrieked:
"How is it alive again? I clearly remember that it was Brother Cat who chopped off its head! That head was even hung on the city gate...
Wait, sometime ago the Blood Rat Gang issued a wanted notice, saying Kenbort’s head had been stolen.
Damn, so it was the Wolf People here who stole it?"
"It’s ’Zombie Kenbort’, the developers definitely recycled old materials, pretty sly. But considering the name and theme of this team dungeon, the appearance of this zombie boss unexpectedly feels appropriate.
It’s all good.
This time, there’s no need to fight those three troublesome chests; taking this guy down would mean the end."
Orchid undid her sword and shield, assuming a defensive stance. Her Nord bloodline power activated, covering her in an aura of frost as she cast a frost shield on herself that could absorb damage and slow her enemies.
After the recent upgrade to their racial talents, human shield holders like Orchid finally didn’t lag behind other classes’ Defenders.
Even so, Orchid didn’t have the confidence to withstand the big zombie in front of her, clearly enhanced by pestilence and the power of the Undead, let alone the four zombie Barbarian Soldiers and four floating Resentful Spirits next to it.
Damn!
Is this a "Council Fight"?
