Chapter 1374: 464. Having a boss who does not cooperate with work and whom you also cannot afford to offend is really a headache.

The high-ranking Necromancer responsible for central command was killed, which directly led to the loss of command within the Elite Skeleton Army.

Despite there being thousands in the Undead Army, it can’t be possible that there’s only one Necromancer as the commander. But given its formidable strength, naturally, it was at the core. Without its control, it’s like a beehive losing its queen; the remaining lower-level Necromancers, no matter how hard they tried to rally the troops, would be unable to restore the already chaotic Undead Army back to combat readiness.

The vampires hurried over from nearby watchtowers, barely making it in time to clean up the battlefield.

The most challenging part had already been completed by Old Qin and his young "apprentices"; what was left was just to sniper-kill the low-level Necromancers to completely eliminate the threat of the Skeleton Army.

Although the wandering skeletons would still cause significant trouble to the supply lines, it was a job for the newcomers who just joined the ranks on the western front to handle, to serve as training.

When Ayu found Rainbow Cat, the poor guy was squatting by a puddle of mud, muttering under his breath like someone who had taken a blow to the psyche.

A few NPC Soldiers nearby dared not approach, for Rainbow Cat would attack anyone who came close.

The woeful state of his body signified the intensity of the battle he had just been through was far beyond imagination, and damn, he wasn’t someone adept at fighting but an administrator.

"Little pitiful soul, I bet you won’t be able to sleep well for the next few days."

Ayu complained and ordered the NPC servants to scatter, approaching Rainbow Cat himself, but the moment he got close, Rainbow Cat let out a heart-rending howl and lunged at him with a rifle.

But such a move was useless against an old player like Ayu, who adeptly dodged and punched Rainbow Cat’s wrist.

The weapon fell to the ground, and Ayu pinned down Rainbow Cat’s hand before he could pull the pin from a grenade on his body.

"Hey! Snap out of it!"

Ayu yelled, clutching Rainbow Cat’s neck, and seeing no effect, he shook his head and slapped him twice on the face. This finally snapped Rainbow Cat out of his demented state.

The moment he saw the concerned expression on Ayu’s face, he burst into tears and, while clinging to Ayu, wailed:

"They’re all dead, I’m the only one left, woo woo woo, they’re all dead."

"I know, I know."

Ayu helplessly patted his back and whispered,

"We’ve fought worse battles before, and I’ve never seen anyone as fragile as you. Sigh, being too emotionally rich is also a problem.

It seems you really aren’t cut out for such intense combat.

Stop crying, be strong, you’ll see them in three days. If you truly feel guilty about it, then come with me to clean up the battlefield right now.

You guys, a dozen or so, really did a great job, wiped out so many of the Undead Army. According to the rules of the Marsh War, you can keep half of all the spoils of war, the rest half has to be handed over to the People’s Army Logistics Department.

Shit!

You guys are really going to be rich.

With such a major victory, I bet your Commander could immediately rise from a reserve Soldier to a non-commissioned officer in charge of a squad. But with such skilled fighting, could he actually be a P company player?"

"Ptui! Old Qin is way better than any P company player."

Wiping away his tears, Rainbow Cat then felt the raw pain in his body and started rolling around on the ground with a howl, prompting Ayu to quickly arrange for an NPC vampire to take him to the rear for treatment.

As for himself, he planned to head to the battlefield to help his impressive comrades gather their war spoils.

However, just as Ayu was about to take off, he heard Cheche’s call:

"Come over to the highland! There are some leftovers here."

"Holy fuck, wasn’t the highland almost scorched clean by Flame Strike Skill and bombs? How could anything be left behind?"

Ayu exclaimed in surprise and flew over with a flap of his wings.

The highland, bombarded by Flame Strike Skill and incendiary bombs, was already unrecognizable. The terrain of the marshland was never solid to begin with. After the fiery flames died out, a pit full of ashes appeared where it had stood.

The remains of the Skeleton Army were everywhere, scorched into blackened bones, while Cheche was still swinging her Magic Wand, casting icy beams to extinguish the surrounding flames.

The vampire interrogator, pinching his nose, pointed to a weird, blackened thing at his feet, his face full of disgust:

"This Necromancer is not just any corpse. It actually survived being scorched at close range by an incendiary bomb."

"??? It’s that resistant to burning?"

Ayu grew interested.

He crouched down and lifted the strange skull, fused to metal and charred, with his gauntleted left hand. The Necromancer’s skin had long been burnt away, leaving only a blackened skull.

But the skull was adorned with weird death runes, probably the reason it had survived Old Qin’s last attack.

Even so, the high-ranking Necromancer had already weakened to the extreme.

As Ayu picked it up, the Pale Blue Spirit Fire flickering in the eye sockets of the blackened skull had dwindled down to just a spark.

It watched Ayu, struggling to move its jaw, and asked:

"Who... who are you?"

"Vampires from Transylvania, are you blind? We are, of course, the vanguard of the Blood Vulture Clan and the blade of Sir Morphy."

Ayu replied routinely.

Yet, the Necromancer rebuked:

"No! You are not! You are not vampires, nor are they Blood Servants! I have never seen such mad Blood Servants; you are not! Had the Blood Vulture Clan such fierce and ruthless Blood Servants, you would’ve ruled the world by now."
