Chapter 1356: 458. To treat Murphy’s anxiety, Loyal Brother presented a groundbreaking product! - [Additional 25/25]
(For Warm Wine Farewell brother, here’s an extra update[5/5])
Although snuggling with Triss relaxed Murphy’s heart, the shadow lingering in his mind didn’t dissipate; after sending Triss back to her secret laboratory with intimate gestures, Murphy figured since he couldn’t sleep anyway, he might as well go out for a stroll.
So, once again, he spread his wings and soared high.
This time, he didn’t need Reveno to guide him through the dark night. He just let his instincts take over, flying aimlessly around his vast territory—considering it a vampire-style high-altitude joyride to relax.
As Murphy saw Crimson Castle growing more distant, he suddenly realized a fact he’d never taken to heart before.
Since the birth of the vampire race on the Continent and the establishment of their settlements, Murphy was probably the vampire lord who actually controlled the most territory of them all throughout history.
Even though Transylvania had nominally belonged to the Blood Vulture Clan for the past four hundred years, every beggar and Wolf Person on that land knew that Xike Territory had never genuinely been under Salockdale’s control.
The power of the Blood Vulture Clan Leader over the south and west was also very weak; one could say that during the Salockdale era, the real core area that the Blood Vulture Clan truly controlled was merely what encompassed Count Cadman’s Domain.
The Thorn Clan had a small duchy on the borders of the Nordtov Kingdom, roughly two-thirds the size of Transylvania, which was already a remarkable force among vampire political entities.
The Wolfsbane Clan nominally controlled the dark zones of Gnelin Island, but everyone knew that the order of these dark zones depended entirely on King Louis turning a blind eye; should the "Sun King" truly set his mind to it, with the current thriving national power of the Goldenrod Kingdom, at most one month of "crackdown on crimes" would cause significant damage to the Wolfsbane Clan.
The other clans aren’t even worth mentioning.
The Blood Covenant Knight Order had no territory, the Blood Fear Clan had been drifting on the sea for two hundred years, the principal body of the Clan of Secret Blood had vanished from the Continent after the last Black Disaster leaving behind only two or three kittens still active in the night—and even Triss couldn’t confirm whether they genuinely existed anymore.
As for the Mad Blood Clan...
That cursed clan had been sealed in the Land of Holy Blood since the dawn of the Era and had never truly set foot on this Continent; thus, in current times, when discussing vampire affairs, these guys are typically not counted.
Having thought it all through, Murphy realized that he had unwittingly lit up an incredible achievement, no wonder Lord Paryen was so courteous to him...
Perhaps the old and cunning lord had realized before Murphy did that this young vampire had "valuable goods" to offer?
With that thought, Murphy felt a tinge of pride.
After all, he had started from nothing, built everything from scratch, and gradually developed the nearly extinct Blood Vulture Clan to its current state.
Although the clan was still far from its heyday, as more players became vampires, Murphy and Triss were certain that by the time of Black Disaster, the Blood Vulture Clan would once again become a force capable of producing nearly a thousand Black Iron Warriors in one breath; and after the Black Disaster ended, it’s highly probable that assembling a "Silver Hundred Group" wouldn’t be a problem.
"Once the situation in Transylvania is entirely under my control, and after surviving the Black Disaster, I should consider expanding the territory and reclaiming lost lands," Murphy mused as he reduced his flying speed from supersonic to cruising altitude, descending into a low-altitude flight hundreds of meters above the ground, contemplating:
"It hasn’t even been half a year since the end of the Decade War; the people of East Prussia and the Kafuhoka region still feel some allegiance to the Posya Confederation. Especially in the Kafuhoka region, the Nords’ brutal oppression has caused a lot of resentment.
This is a good opportunity.
But if it drags on, it won’t be so good anymore—the Lupa wouldn’t allow Kafuhoka, a significant granary, to remain outside of the Nords’ political system for long...
Huh?
What the hell is that up ahead?"
The Vampire Lord’s attention was suddenly drawn to a speck of light darting around in the dark night ahead. He raised his head and squinted, allowing his vampire vision to focus.
After a second of fine-tuning, he recognized the distant object in the dark night: a little player riding on a Wind Eagle. If he remembered correctly, wasn’t their ID "Thirty-Year-Old Yan Song"?
It seemed like a professional pilot.
Why was he out here in the dead of night, not sleeping, but instead flying at this kilometer altitude? Was it because, like Murphy, he couldn’t sleep due to some troubles of his own?
A mischievous grin spread across Murphy’s face.
He called upon the shadows to cloak himself and stealthily approached Yan Song, who was adjusting the Wind Eagle’s flying posture, planning to give him a good scare, thus completing a mainline NPC’s prank on one of his own darling players.
However, just as Murphy was sneaking closer, he heard Yan Song yell at the top of his lungs to the person on the other end of the Calculating Pearl:
"First test trial of the solidified gasoline incendiary bomb is ready! Wind speed is normal, flight speed has reached expectation! The ground target is locked, prepare for drop! Observers at the lookout spots, take note of the explosion effect!
Three, two, one!
Drop the bomb!"
"Damn it!"
Murphy was startled by Yan Song’s shout, but the Yan Song before him had already let out a ghastly scream and then released a clasp hanging beneath the Wind Eagle.
