Chapter 1290: 436. Version Update - The Time to Strengthen Talents Has Arrived! - Additional Updates [3/25]

(The third additional Chapter for the "Relaxed Survivor" brothers [3/5])

As time moved on, it was another weekend, meaning that a new batch of players would enter Transylvania to serve Sir Morphy’s cause with fresh energy and ample will.

Yet today’s new recruit induction was different from the past.

This time, those entering the game weren’t just players personally vetted by Morphy, but also about thirty newbies selected by the Players’ Guild.

They mainly came from the Crimson Hammer Sickle Group of the Joy Stick and Tepar’s Torrent Knights, the only two players’ guilds in the game that had reached level two in the Adventurer Guild’s ratings and had thus been given "self-recruitment" rights.

Though called self-recruitment, these new players still had to pass the "review" by Morphy and Triss before they could put on helmets and enter the game.

Even though the screening criteria had relaxed a lot compared to before, it still ensured that these new players had unique skills.

Walking in the shadows, Governor Morphy pulled out his worn pocket watch to check the time—there were thirty minutes to go until the new players’ induction.

He then picked up the Core Bead and asked Triss,

"My dear assistant Little Cui, have we finished preparing today’s update announcement?"

"My dear superior, Alpha administrator, the document has been revised and is ready to be posted on the forum anytime."

Triss’s voice, earnest and model-like, emerged from the bead, her tone carrying a hint of excitement and anticipation:

"Such a large-scale Psychic Projection reshape, I’ve never tried it before. Are you sure we can complete it in two hours?"

"Absolutely not more than four hours!"

Morphy said seriously,

"This is the first ’server maintenance’ in the operation of ’Real Different World,’ and we must strictly control the time to showcase the development team’s powerful technical strength.

Besides, we’ve conducted tests before; this task isn’t difficult. Send out the document, let my little players get ready to log off."

"Okay."

Triss responded and immediately, an official update post opened on the forum; simultaneously, Morphy held onto the Core Bead and sent a message to all online little players in the form of a "server-wide announcement":

[Attention, respected game testers! ’Real Different World’ is about to undergo its first server maintenance, with a countdown of 30 minutes! Please have testers immediately return to the nearest save point or choose a safe area to prepare to log off!

The maintenance will last 2-4 hours; for specific upgrade and maintenance information, please visit the forum.]

"Damn!"

Having been leading a group of "administrative personnel" in challenging Kudell in a team instance within the Blood Vulture Corridor, the team’s Mud Tank cursed suddenly. He appeared annoyed, telling his "wild team members,"

"Retreat, retreat, we can’t fight now. Let’s wait until after the update."

"Why does this damn game always give surprise updates? Can’t they notify us a day or two in advance?"

Traveler Little Zhou also looked displeased.

He was only a few badges away from completing his Family Guardian suit, and this sudden event really blew his mind. The "Ruthless Mantis" beside him, though, took it in stride.

The flamboyant man flipped his hair, consoling:

"The development team is still quite reliable; previously, they updated online without anyone even feeling a thing. Today’s update actually requires a server shutdown.

I think there’s definitely something big happening.

Stop complaining.

Hurry up, exit the dungeon, find a safe spot to log off, then go look at the update details on the forum. It’s bound to be explosive."

"Damn! There’s already a post on the forum."

UP master Medical Insurance Wars God Dasaen exclaimed from the sidelines:

"This update is about enhancing human racial talents and implementing a face-customization feature. I knew it, why else would they do server maintenance.

This is a mega project, come on, let’s hurry and grab some handsome faces online, so later everyone can adjust their looks.

We are the warriors of Transylvania, always having such shabby faces is kind of odd."

"Damn! If you look shabby, that’s your problem, don’t lump me in. I’m quite confident in my looks, you know?"

The other member of their five-person team, "One Punch Blasting the Galaxy," retorted:

"I’m a hottie, super popular with the aunties back at the office."

"Being popular with aunties doesn’t sound like a good thing at all? Spit spit, kids say the darnedest things, come on, let’s go adjust our faces."

The group stopped complaining and, amidst the clamor, left the dungeon and hurried to the Midnight Room to save and log off. On their way, they encountered other players rushing back from everywhere, hurriedly finding rock platforms to lie down on and log off.

Currently, with few save points opened, the little players’ first instinct to find a safe area was to head back to Crimson Castle. For those nearby it didn’t matter, but those far away had to use "randomly hazardous" homecoming scrolls to rush back.

"The Midnight Room isn’t quite sufficient anymore."

At that moment, beneath the Crimson Corridor, Morphy was hiding in the shadows of the soon-to-be "birth point" for new players, watching his players hasten back from all directions to "play dead."

He had once thought this vast warehouse was sufficient for the players to use as their initial save point, but the rapidly changing situation forced him to consider opening more save points to accommodate the increasingly large range of players’ activities.
