Chapter 1284: 434. Anti-Dusk Small Alliance - Additional update for "Leisurely Survivor" brothers 【1/25】

Duchess Shani had never imagined that one day she would take the initiative to visit Transylvania.

After all, in countless moments of the past, Transylvania had rarely represented anything good, but ever since Murphy appeared and the Blood Vulture Clan was rebuilt, Duchess Shani had visited this place three times in just two months.

This made her begin to wonder if there really was something "unclean" about this cursed land of Transylvania.

However, upon reflection, weren’t vampires themselves the most unclean beings on this land? Could there really be anything stranger that would emerge here and surpass vampires in terms of evil and corruption?

Impossible!

Could there really be such sinister things on this continent?

Duchess Shani pondered this question.

She was so engrossed in her thoughts that when Murphy and Triss entered the parlor, this beautiful duchess, whose twin braids made her look like a valiant sister akin to Jamie, was still deeply immersed in her contemplation.

Of course, both Triss and Murphy knew that Shani was just pretending.

As a vampire assassin of the Golden Tier, it would indeed be strange if she had no such alertness.

"Everyone is very busy, so let’s get straight to the point."

After sitting down, Murphy opened the conversation and asked,

"Have you found anything of note in your handling of Bernel City’s Thieves Guild?"

"Yes, and quite a lot."

Holding her golden braids playfully, Duchess Shani leaned back in her chair with a relaxed posture, her beautiful eyes swaying back and forth between Murphy and Triss, before she said with a smile,

"But I can’t tell you... to put it more straightforwardly, I don’t want to tell you, unless I can be sure that you really stand with me.

What I mean is, when facing the problem of Twilight, I can’t stand with idiots and weaklings. Regardless of which one you belong to, it would lead to me and my clan being devoured by danger."

"Huh? You mean we have to prove our strength to you first?"

Triss responded with evident dissatisfaction,

"If you have something to say, just say it; if not, you can leave. Your presence here already proves that you are desperately in need of help in this matter.

Stop pretending, Shani!

If even Lord Paryen needs to take Twilight seriously, then we Bloodline Dukes have even more reason to stand united.

This is not for you or me, nor for both our clans and subordinates.

This is for something much deeper.

Though talking about world peace and seeking a sustainable future might sound fantastical coming from a vampire’s mouth, if you really know what the Twilight followers want, then you should understand what I’m talking about."

"Sharp-tongued."

Shani snorted lightly, a trace of frivolity in her voice,

"You’ve become so eloquently sharp-witted; it looks like little Mo Fei has been living it up lately."

"Hey! Is that something a Bloodline Duke should say? What happened to the dignity you always prided yourself on as a duke of royal blood?"

Triss, beside herself with anger, understood the vulgar implication in Shani’s words. She sprang up like an enraged wildcat, only to be forcibly pressed back into her chair by a disapproving Murphy.

What on earth was going on with these two women!

Why did it always turn into such a heated argument every time they met? Could this be the legendary fierce rivalry between beauties?

"Please talk about serious matters, Lady Shani."

Murphy, calming an infuriated Triss, promptly took over the conversation, saying earnestly,

"If you’re just here to provoke or spread some meaningless and malicious gossip, then I can only ask you to leave.

And let’s not bring up any more nonsense about proving one’s strength. Lord Paryen has recognized our investigation and is sending assistants en route, so I don’t think it’s up to you to judge whether the Blood Vulture Clan is qualified to participate in the pursuit of Twilight.

Now, tell us, what have you discovered in the Thieves Guild?"

Faced with Lord Paryen’s name brought up by Murphy, Duchess Shani had no grounds for rebuttal.

She could only pout and then somberly said,

"Corruption!

Dreadful, pervasive, nearly impossible to cleanse corruption and degradation.

There were a total of 371 people in Bernel City’s Thieves Guild, not many, considering it’s just an outpost in a remote area, far from matching the size of their main guild at North Wind Castle. Yet, at least two-thirds of those 371 had become puppets and followers of the vile and otherworldly.

Had I not personally overseen the cleaning of that place, just relying on the Thorn Clan descendants stationed in Bernel City, we might have had a disaster.

I heard you caught a Spider Demon?

That’s fantastic.

Because I personally killed twenty-seven Spider Demons in the castle of the Bernel City Thieves Guild. It was deadly! Before we broke through, those released lunatics had almost slaughtered all the resistors.

The Thieves Guild’s outposts in the Kafuhoka region have been almost entirely annihilated, marking one of the most severe losses in the guild’s three hundred and fifty-year history.

Even during the Black Disaster, those cunning fellows never suffered this pitifully."

"So, here comes the question."

Murphy and Triss exchanged glances. He leaned forward and asked,

"What exactly do the Twilight followers want? What are they trying to obtain from the Thieves Guild? Don’t tell me you overturned an entire base and didn’t even figure this out?"

"That is precisely the issue I am here to discuss with both of you today."
