Chapter 1248: 422. Cape Holiday: Don’t Mess with Transylvania Women (2)
Major Ron woke up the next morning in his comfortable bed, feeling completely refreshed and let out a yawn as he sat up.
While rubbing his eyes and intending to wash up, he put on his coat and stepped out of the bedroom, only to be shocked.
"How did you get yourself into this state!"
Major Ron stared in astonishment at Colonel Fraser, who was sitting in the living room chair.
The man was tipsy, with a half-empty bottle of alcohol beside him, his properly dressed coat thrown on the floor, his expensive shoes scattered about, and his costly shirt stained with alcohol.
This was a disgraceful appearance that should never be seen on the heir of the Cape Family, yet it had happened.
"Hey! Did I miss any exciting drama last night?"
Ron hurriedly went over to check on him and then realized that Fraser wasn’t really drunk, or rather, he hadn’t drunk much; there was still more than half of the bottle left, so at most the guy had only had a few drinks.
But even such a small amount had left him in this sorry state, which clearly indicated that the real reason for his downfall wasn’t the alcohol...
Facing Ron’s question, Fraser remained silent.
Major Ron found himself at a loss for words. Thankfully, there were still two hours left before the meeting they had arranged with Governor Morphy the previous night, so Major Ron hurriedly contacted the only person he could reach at Crimson Castle who could offer help.
Ten minutes later, with the neighing of horses, Miss Biqi, the proud blonde knight and "Honorary Vanguard of the Rushing River Knights Group," stormed in to help her weakened and troubled fiancé.
When she kicked open the door, Major Ron, who had just helped Fraser change his clothes, was dumbfounded by her armor in the typical vampire style.
He exclaimed,
"Miss Eleville aligning with the vampires? My God! There’s really no end to the strange ways of Transylvania."
"You’re overthinking it. It’s just a gift from my grandfather to his favorite little granddaughter."
Biqi didn’t care about these things.
Embracing her cool vulture war helmet, she stepped forward and almost immediately scrunched up her brow from the alcohol fumes emanating from Fraser.
As a female knight who adhered strictly to the classical knightly code, Miss Biqi disliked men who indulged in excessive pleasures.
This was utterly unlike the Fraser she knew.
"Liwen darling, give me a hand."
She said to her attendant officer, the black-haired, black-eyed Half Dragonborn knight, who shrugged his shoulders and snapped his fingers.
A burst of azure Spiritual Energy quickly transformed into a breeze that whirled around Fraser, providing a cool and refreshing sensation that instantly sobered up the dispirited Colonel, preventing him from numbing his sorrow and frustration with alcohol.
He then saw the angry face of Biqi squatting in front of him, staring at him with a "disappointed beyond words" look.
"Ah, I messed up."
Fraser said quietly,
"Milian and I have fallen out. That’s not the problem; the real issue is that I don’t understand why she is so angry. I suddenly realized that I actually don’t know her at all."
"Ha, I knew it!"
Upon hearing this response, Biqi, who had looked very angry just a moment ago, instantly burst into a wide grin.
She motioned to the unamused Knight Liwen with her hand, and the attendant officer reluctantly pulled a Gold Coin from her pouch and placed it in Biqi’s hand.
It was a bet.
Biqi had wagered that Fraser would come here full of enthusiasm and leave disappointed, and indeed, Biqi’s odd mind proved to have a knack for these things.
She almost perfectly predicted Fraser’s current abject demeanor.
And this scene left Colonel Fraser furiously upset. Still reeling from his emotional blows, he roared:
"You! You actually gambled on your fiancé’s tragic situation? Biqi oh Biqi! What kind of golden-haired demon are you!"
"I just want to prove that I’m actually not foolish, and the fact shows that among our three complex relationships, I’m not the stupidest.
That makes me feel pleased."
Biqi sat down on a chair nearby, skillfully crossing her legs in a typical "boss pose" used by gamers.
She spread her hands casually over the armrests displaying a "dominant aura" and snorted. In the eyes of Major Ron, who leaned against the wall reveling in the drama, she said,
"I knew already that you would end up disappointed with Milian. You’re right, Fraser, you actually don’t know her at all.
You just know that Milian was born into a poor family, know about her struggles in the first half of her life, know about her desperate struggles in Transylvania and her stroke of luck in meeting Governor Morphy which led her to rise above her situation.
You think you understand Milian’s heart, yet she is much more complicated than you imagine.
The simplest fact I started to realize after becoming her close friend is that under Milian’s delicate exterior hides a soul more resilient and stronger than me, you, and everyone else in this room combined.
The local people call their Crimson Regent a role model for all women.
They don’t just say that for nothing!
You thought you helped Milian recover her heritage, bringing her true lineage and noble dignity, allowing her to rightly break free from the lower classes...
