Chapter 1139: 385. Death Town in the Polluted Swamp_3

"I underestimated that bastard before."

"Get up!"

The vanguard captain, using the Jackals’ harsh tone, scolded:

"Come in with me, Lord Tear Flesh wants to see you and ask you some questions. You must report truthfully, as Lord Tear Flesh is a close friend of the Military Governor Kenbort, and you must tell him every detail about Kenbort’s death."

"Ah, okay! I’m ready to report to Lord Tear Flesh all the stories of that night."

Upon hearing that he could enter the town, Hog felt a leap of joy in his heart.

He hurriedly got up, hunching his back, and followed the Jackal-man Vanguard captain, who allowed him to bring one servant, so the shrewd Nash was chosen to follow.

Hog signaled with his eyes for him to listen and observe as much as possible, and Nash quickly nodded and shrank his head.

They followed the vanguard captain into the town, crossing through the strange, gray-black fog, only to have the true face of the infected town fully exposed before Hog. He was stunned to find two "Mage Towers" hidden within the mist.

These were classic human constructions, five stories tall, with walls overrun by moss and climbing plants, giving these faded towers a sense of time-worn gravity.

But these were certainly not built by the Jackal Warlocks, meaning these towers were originally here and the Jackals had found them and established the town around these two abandoned Mage Towers.

Hog looked around, quickly noticing that the tower on his left continuously had the Skeleton Army carrying in corpses wrapped in rotten mud, and "freshly made" animated skeletons queuing to emerge, all wrapped in a faint green phosphorescent glow that imbued the place with a chilling, ominous aura.

"That is the Construct Tower, where Magicians and Priests specifically create the Skeleton Army and resurrect the dead, which also serves as our barracks here."

The guiding Jackal-man Vanguard noticed Hog and Nash’s curious eyes, and with a mix of mockery and cruelty, threatened the two "clueless bumpkins":

"If you dare steal or break the rules here again, that will be your final destination."

"We wouldn’t dare, we Transylvanian lowlifes don’t have the guts."

Hog replied with a forced smile, but the vanguard captain only snorted without response, his arrogant posture strikingly similar to Kenbort.

The Blood Claw Chief thought this fellow already had a death wish, but instead of acting recklessly, he secretly remembered this grievance and committed the location of the Construct Tower to memory, then, urged by the vanguard, followed him into another tower.

This must be where the Jackal Warlocks reside.

They decorated it in a very "clannish style," using Magic Artifacts adorned with skulls to divide areas for different Jackal Warlocks.

This was also Hog’s first encounter with actual "Jackal Warlocks," whose attire differed little from human heretics, all dressed in full-black hoods covering their bodies, only revealing a sinister face.

But even though Hog was not proficient in Spiritual Energy, he could feel very distinct psychic fluctuations around these taciturn folks, especially since the Jackal’s use of Spiritual Energy, mostly deemed "Evil Sorcery," resulted in continuous use of such wild spells eventually causing various injuries to the warlocks.

Hog even saw one whose face was only one-third intact, the rest was a mummified visage.

That bastard even smiled at him, clearly trying to frighten him.

Hog was not scared.

But Nash was so terrified that his tail went straight, and his fur bristled in a rather comical manner.

There were quite a few warlocks here, and Hog climbed to the top floor, seeing at least forty Jackal Warlocks and twice as many servile "Necromancers," but on the topmost floor of this Mage Tower, the spacious area where Lord Tear Flesh, the leader of this warlock clan, resided was very spacious.

The vast top floor was only occupied by him, with his laboratory, dissection table, prayer room, and a Monitoring Magic Ball all placed here... wait! Monitoring Magic Ball?

Hog was taken aback!

How could he recognize a Monitoring Magic Ball? He had never seen it, nor heard of it before! What was going on with his brain?

Could it be that he had awakened some incredible ability?

Speaking of which, he did indeed feel odd today. He hadn’t noticed it before, but now recalling, since he entered the swamp, his thoughts had been particularly active, as if he had shed his old brain and grown a new, more useful one?

"Only realizing it now? You really are a slow one."

Murphy’s voice eerily resonated in Hog’s mind the next second, startling him so much that he nearly jumped, but he managed to suppress his shock with his experienced mind.

He then heard Murphy say:

"Don’t be scared, this ’Scout’s Eye’ art system is personally maintained by The Grand Duke of Cui Si. As long as this Jackal Warlock in front of you is not a Spiritual Overlord, you need not worry about being exposed.

Your eyes are my eyes, Hog.

Now, continue with this surveillance, my ’Eye of Insight,’ and I will reward you!"
