Chapter 610: Chapter 609 Action

"Roar?"

The Iron-Eating Giant Panda bared two sharp fangs beneath its bronze mask, emitting a low growl towards Shao Zifeng who stood in its way.

"We can’t keep going like this." Shao Zifeng looked up at the nearly five-meter-tall Iron-Eating Giant Panda, feeling the oppressive presence of the high-rank beast washing over him, "Look at those monsters. If this continues, sooner or later, they will kill everyone."

Upon hearing this, the Iron-Eating Giant Panda turned its head to look at the screaming crowd. A massive, indistinguishable mass of people was packed together, with the bodies of infected individuals scattered throughout the disheveled central venue. These infectees, still in human form, had met a gruesome death, their corpses surrounded by several monsters.

Seeing this, the Iron-Eating Giant Panda’s stance visibly softened, and the bronze spears that had been darting swiftly over its head gradually came to a halt.

"Hmm?"

It lowered its head again to look at Shao Zifeng, as if asking what his plan was.

Without any hesitation, Shao Zifeng said, "Open the safety exit. Let everyone out..."

"Roar!"

Before he could finish speaking, the Iron-Eating Giant Panda let out an angry roar, its powerful breath pushing Shao Zifeng back several steps.

Lingling, seeing this from beneath her black veil, the red gleam in her eyes turned frigid. With a flash, she positioned herself in front of Shao Zifeng, her puffy skirt swaying in the wind as her katana cleaved through the blast of air, then pointed it straight at the Iron-Eating Giant Panda and said coldly, "Big guy, if you disrespect the Duke again, I won’t mind killing you."

The Iron-Eating Giant Panda narrowed its eyes, and the atmosphere suddenly froze. There was an angry shimmer in its eyes, as if the frustrations of the night were about to burst forth. All eyes in the vicinity were fixed on the contrasting figures of the giant and the little one.

Shao Zifeng stepped forward and gently patted Lingling’s head, "Lingling, help me out."

Lingling hesitated, "But, Duke..."

Shao Zifeng spoke in an unquestionable tone, "Listen to me."

"Alright then." Lingling pursed her lips, and the katana in her hand slowly dissipated. A pair of black-grey vines wrapped around Shao Zifeng’s waist, lifting him to the level of the Iron-Eating Giant Panda’s eyes.

Shao Zifeng, looking at the head that was much larger than his own body, extended his right hand to touch the Iron-Eating Giant Panda’s bronze muzzle while simultaneously activating his empathy ability.

The Iron-Eating Giant Panda hesitated only a moment before opening up its mind. Its immense presence instantly surged towards Shao Zifeng.

In the illusory realm of perception, the massive figure of the Iron-Eating Giant Panda was outlined in blue lines as it towered above Shao Zifeng, and a deep voice echoed from within his heart, "Human, state your purpose."

Shao Zifeng met its gaze and calmly said, "I know you are worried about the infectees harming other citizens if they are let go, but what if they have already been evacuated?"

"...Evacuated?" The Iron-Eating Giant Panda’s reaction seemed somewhat slow, "How can you prove this?"

Next, Shao Zifeng shared with it what he had seen on his way to the central venue. The overwhelming might of the Iron-Eating Giant Panda gradually lessened, and a faint green tint mingled with the blue lines, an indication of its changing attitude towards Shao Zifeng.

The Iron-Eating Giant Panda crossed its legs and sat in the void, scratching its head in a simple and endearing manner, and said in a slow, deep voice, "Human, I have wronged you..."

It paused before continuing, "You are unique. Out of so many humans I’ve met, none could communicate directly with me... Why is that..."

As it spoke, it seemed to fall into thought, its small eyes beneath the bronze armor staring blankly at Shao Zifeng.

Shao Zifeng’s mouth twitched. Now’s not really the time to worry about this, is it?

"Um, shall we go out now?"

The Iron-Eating Giant Panda was startled, then responded slowly, "Go out, to where?"

Shao Zifeng’s expression darkened, Who the hell are you siding with, big guy? He suddenly recalled Beibei’s inexplicable hostility towards the Iron-Eating Giant Panda and instantly became more cautious, "Of course, to let those people out."

Smack!

The Iron-eating Giant Panda patted its own head with its paw, and said in a simple-minded way, "I totally forgot about this. It’s been so fun chatting with you, and it would be even better if you could give me something sweet... um, next, I will continue to hunt the infected to buy you time, and the rest is up to you, since I can’t communicate directly with you humans, even though I..."

Watching the rambling Iron-eating Giant Panda, he severed the empathic link immediately.

Shao Zifeng opened his eyes, feeling gentle currents of air brushing against his face.

Um, strawberry-flavored.

The Iron-eating Giant Panda seemed still immersed in its sensory world, making contented sounds from its nose.

After asking Lingling to put him down, Li Yiming and the others quickly gathered around: "Captain, what’s happening?"

Shao Zifeng shook his head slightly: "Next, we act on our own, you lot listen to my commands."

"Coconut!" Hu Shiwu said excitedly, "Captain, are you going to let us slaughter freely, and then make a video of it... hehehe."

Li Yiming pulled at his sleeve: "You were saying, Captain?"

Shao Zifeng’s gaze swept over his companions: "Casar, have Snow Feather Owl take Teacher Yu Xiaoyu and Yiren out of here, Li Yiming, Xiang Nan, Hu Shiwu, you three look for communication devices, preferably military-grade walkie-talkies."

After finishing, he scanned the group: "That’s the plan for now, does anyone have any questions?"

No sooner had he finished speaking than Yu Xiaoyu timidly raised her hand: "I do."

Shao Zifeng looked at her: "Go ahead, Teacher Yu Xiaoyu."

Yu Xiaoyu glanced at Lingling standing next to Shao Zifeng and mumbled for a moment, "I won’t abandon my students to die, Yu Xiaoyu would never leave her students behind!"

Shao Zifeng looked at her with an amused expression: "Who said anything about dying? We are actually planning to escape."

"Eh?" Yu Xiaoyu blinked: "Then I’m fine."

At that moment, Li Yiming spoke up: "Captain, I think instead of looking for walkie-talkies, it might be better to go directly to the control room in the back and make an announcement."

Shao Zifeng looked at Li Yiming: "Yiming has really grown up a lot."

The praised Li Yiming shifted his gaze unconsciously, seeming a bit shy.

"Going directly to the control room is indeed more convenient, but without prior communication with the Benpao Army, it could cause unnecessary trouble. If we can’t find the Benpao Army, then we’ll use the broadcast," he explained. Shao Zifeng said.

Upon hearing Shao Zifeng’s explanation, Li Yiming adopted a thoughtful look: "I understand."

Shao Zifeng clapped his hands: "If there are no objections, then let’s get moving."

"Don’t worry, Captain."

"Whoosh~"

Soon, the Snow Feather Owl, white all over, took off with two women, shaking unsteadily as it flew towards the dome of the venue.

Casar, Li Yiming, and the rest split into two groups; Li Yiming and Casar went to find leaders from the Yulu Army, while Xiang Nan and Hu Shiwu used their own advantages to squeeze into the crowd. Their mission was to locate soldiers from the Benpao Army.

After they had left, Shao Zifeng sighed as he looked at the chaotic crowd.

Hopefully, everything would go smoothly.
