My Pet Beast is Super Fearsome -
Chapter 599 - 598: The Beginning of Chaos
Chapter 599: Chapter 598: The Beginning of Chaos
"What’s going on over there?"
The disturbance in the audience section had caught Chen Yixin’s attention. Today, she was still in her white lab coat, wearing small, delicate glasses on her nose. Her previously loose waves had been replaced with a bun, making her appear much younger.
A woman’s charm does not rely on looks or age, and this saying was very applicable to Chen Yixin. Although her looks were not outstanding, her calm and unperturbed demeanor made her the most eye-catching presence wherever she was.
"Sigh, isn’t it the chaos that happened today? The higher-ups have decided that everyone present should be observed and, ideally, vaccinated before leaving." The venue administrator took his eyes off Chen Yixin and helplessly looked at the disoriented crowd, "You know how rarely people get sick these days. Therefore, pharmaceutical factories have largely halted production over the past decade, with the few that are still operating being subsidized by the state."
"Even though production has urgently resumed, the capacity remains limited. For a while, we simply can’t produce enough vaccines, so many of the unharmed masses have started causing disturbances."
Chen Yixin understood the administrator’s troubles all too well, but unfortunately, she was powerless to help, given her responsibility solely for ancient creature research.
"Professor," Tang Tang, who had her hair in two twisted braids, ran up and whispered to Chen Yixin, "Professor, let’s collect the samples quickly, we’ve been instructed to leave here immediately."
"What happened...never mind, let’s collect the samples first." After she finished speaking, Chen Yixin’s gaze swept continuously across the crowd, remembering that Shao Zifeng was here competing today.
"Please follow me." Led by the administrator, Chen Yixin and her group arrived at the center of the green grassland, where a giant beast clad in bronze armor lay, its stature towering over an average human even when prostrate.
The Iron-eating Giant Panda opened one eye as the group approached, and the administrator walked up to it, bowed slightly, and whispered a few words.
Beneath its bronze faceplate, the Iron-eating Giant Panda’s small eyes scanned over the group and then slowly lifted itself from the ground.
Just as everyone thought it would move aside, the Iron-eating Giant Panda suddenly sat down with a thud, the furry underside of its massive paws stretched out towards them.
Everyone was perplexed by its actions, looking bewilderedly at the massive creature.
One of the researchers asked the administrator in a low voice, "Does it need some kind of token?"
"Token? What token?" the administrator said somewhat exasperatedly, "I only showed it your documents, do you think it can understand them?"
"Uh..." the young researcher sheepishly scratched his head.
"Hmm hmm~" Seeing that the group did not understand, the Iron-eating Giant Panda hummed impatiently.
It scratched its large head with a paw, then as if recalling something, it patted its belly and reached out to the group again.
"I know now." At that moment, Tang Tang’s eyes brightened. She quickly rummaged through her bag and pulled out a few pieces of candy, "Is this what you want?"
The Iron-eating Giant Panda’s eyes lit up when it saw the candy. It hummed in anticipation, its face full of expectation as it looked at Tang Tang.
"Hehe~" Tang Tang walked a few steps forward, tore off the candy wrappers, and extended them to the Iron-eating Giant Panda. Because she was quite short, she had to stand on her tiptoes.
The Iron-eating Giant Panda gently lowered its head and carefully took the candy with its mouth, then nudged Tang Tang’s small hand with its wet nose. It shifted its massive body to the side and sat there, blissfully squinting its eyes.
"So cute~" Stars sparkled in Tang Tang’s eyes, melting her girlish heart.
The group smiled at the scene, and the administrator joked cheerfully, "Who would have thought the Iron-eating Giant Panda would take bribes? Next time, we should prepare more candy."
After his not-so-funny joke, he turned to Chen Yixin and said, "Professor Chen, shall I begin then?"
Chen Yixing watched the dragon lying on the ground, her eyes faintly flashing with excitement, "Then I’ll trouble you."
The person in charge walked up to the protective shield and whispered, "Open!"
Buzz.
A strange fluctuation swept across,
The Tomb Guardian Beast squatting at the dragon’s corners blinked, the rippling protective shield slowly descended, and the dragon, dripping with slime, was exposed to the air.
A few young researchers hesitated at the sight of the huge creature on the ground, and for a moment, none dared to approach.
Seeing this, Tang Tang tiptoed and patted the paw of the Iron-eating Giant Panda, opening her palm enticingly, "I still have candies."
The Iron-eating Giant Panda’s wet nose twitched a few times, glanced at the half-dead dragon, then heavily pressed its body onto the dragon, and then hummed twice towards Tang Tang.
Chen Yixing smiled at it, "Thank you."
Then she waved at the researchers behind her; they immediately came forward with various instruments, carefully collecting samples.
Soon, they had filled all the various containers they had brought, and the group looked at the five or six meters long dragon with regret, wishing they could truly dissect this creature if possible.
Seeing that their work was done, the accompanying person in charge let the Tomb Guardian Beast reactivate the protective shield, "Professor Chen, I still have many things to handle so I won’t see you out. Later, the Benxi Army will take care of your safety. I wish you further breakthroughs in your scientific research career."
"Thank you," Chen Yixing nodded, and under the protection of the Benxi Army, started walking towards the exit.
Tens of thousands of eyes watched them move towards a safety exit, instantly causing a stir in the crowd, which peaked as the Benxi Army prepared to let them through.
"Why can they leave, and we cannot? We want to go out too!"
"I want to go home, let us go home!"
"Brothers, let’s rush them together, I refuse to believe they dare kill us all!"
In an instant, the scene became chaotic, with dense crowds surging towards the exit. On another side of the venue, someone shouted that they could go home, and now all the uninjured citizens surged toward the exits, even those with minor injuries mixed in.
The Benxi Army, numbering less than a thousand, was like a small boat in the midst of a tempestuous sea, barely holding their ground with the help of the Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros.
A Benxi Army soldier continuously shouted in front of the approaching citizens, trying to calm the crowd.
Just then, someone suddenly crashed into his arms; the soldier quickly helped him up and asked with concern, "Are you okay...ugh!"
The soldier’s body trembled, disbelievingly looking down to see the man’s eyes turn dark purple, his face twisted with black lines writhing. His hand, avoiding the combat suit’s front plate, thrust into the soldier’s body from the side, as countless black lines crazily surged into him, and bright red blood soon pooled on the ground.
The Stone-armored Giant Rhinoceros, noticing something wrong with its master, roared angrily with red eyes.
Onlookers all turned their gaze at once, watching the soldier collapse to the ground, and the man with the purplish-black lines on his face, panic erupted instantly.
The infected hidden in the crowd saw their chance and acted; the entire central venue plunged into full-blown chaos.
