MY Masochistic CEO -
Chapter 119 reunion
Chapter 119: Chapter 119 reunion
Time passed quickly, and it was time to clock out for lunch. Grace, the flirtatious woman, suggested going to a hotel. I thought to myself, "I have a busy schedule today; I’ll deal with you another time."
I didn’t even eat in the cafeteria. I hastily went to Sevan Pearl Tower and booked a small private room by the window. The room wasn’t large, but the environment inside was excellent. Looking down from this vantage point, I could see Sevan at my feet. However, it was quite costly at fifty-eight grand! It did sting a bit. But I was resolved that as long as I could win over Lily, it would all be worth it.
After descending from the Pearl Tower, I located a bank and transferred another hundred grand to my parents’ account. I phoned them and instructed them to settle the family’s accounts. My parents asked me a series of questions again, and I repeated the prepared words I had thought of earlier, which they believed.
Initially, I intended to send money back home next month, but now that dance classes have commenced, there are expenses to cover everywhere. Spending it all at once wouldn’t be wise. With two hundred grand, the family’s accounts can be settled, and my parents could still hold onto a few grand. There was no need to fret about my younger brother’s university tuition in the second half of the year. Speaking of my younger brother, he was quite remarkable. He was accepted into Sevan University of Political Science and Law, ranking in the top twenty nationwide! fr eewe(b)nove.l.co\m
"Oh, it’s your brother’s enrollment banquet this weekend. Are you coming back?"
I smacked my forehead. How could I have forgotten about this? "I will definitely return. It’s a significant day for our family."
I need to work diligently to earn money and save more for my sister and brother, so my parents don’t have to work as hard.
"Okay, just don’t forget."
After ending the call, I made my way directly to the VT Building. The building housed numerous advertising companies, media groups, and various media outlets. I recalled Frank’s words about working for Skylight not being as beneficial as working for oneself. Splitting profits based on the profit ratio, one deal with Skylight equated to several deals of the same amount. So, why not pursue it?
I cannot fathom entities like Skylight in the vast realm of media advertising. Despite having more robust channels and extensive promotional campaigns, they do not require your business and are unlikely to offer you a significant profit share for a ten-million-dollar deal. They probably wouldn’t even engage in a conversation about it. They might suspect you were a spy from a rival company trying to gather information on their profits. You might be lucky if they don’t confront you aggressively. I’m not very familiar with those small and medium media companies.
However, the names of the companies on each floor of the VT Building are displayed. I was standing there going through them one by one, when a group of people passed by, chatting and laughing.
"William, what brings you here?" Suddenly, someone in the group called out to me.
I peered closely and realized, to my surprise, that it was my old college buddy Tony!
"How did he end up here?"
And he’s dressed so formally, in a suit and tie.
"Damn, we haven’t seen each other in over a year, aren’t you in your hometown? How come you’re here?"
Tony smiled. "I spent a year in my hometown, but it was boring. Sevan is better suited for making progress and achieving my goals."
"You didn’t even bother to inform me when you returned to Sevan; I could have welcomed you back."
We were good buddies in college, so I said that, and he wasn’t angry. Instead, he chuckled and said, "I didn’t want to cause you trouble."
"Tony, your friend?"
At this moment, a woman in professional attire stopped in her tracks looking me up and down. The woman’s aggressive and condescending demeanor did not sit well with me.
"Ms. White, this is my classmate, William, in..."
"We are colleagues!" I chimed in and reached out my hand. Naturally, I couldn’t disclose the name of the company I represented. Such high-value deals were prone to leakage. If Skylight’s people find out I’m flying solo, it’s going to be a mess. The company strictly forbids flying solo; being caught results in immediate termination without any room for negotiation.
"Oh? Colleagues?"
Ms. White was a bit surprised. "Which department are you from?"
"The marketing department," I replied.
"Management?"
"Exactly!" I nodded, thinking to myself, "Even though it’s a deputy position, it’s still a supervisor!"
Just then, Tony was surprised. "William, are you boasting? You’re more than just a regular marketer..."
Before he could finish his sentence, he stopped himself as he realized he was belittling me.
In that moment, Ms. White, who had just extended her hand, withdrew it. "Young man, it’s best to be practical."
Damn, that’s too realistic!
Feeling a bit embarrassed, I noticed Tony scratching his head; this kid was so outspoken in college, and he’s still the same now in the workplace.
"Hehe, just got promoted these days."
I tried to explain it, but Ms. White didn’t believe me at all. She then turned to Tony and said, "Tony, we’re going upstairs first. You hurry up and don’t waste time on idle people."
Damn, she’s practically cursing me to my face.
Tony’s face didn’t look good either, he awkwardly smiled. "Okay, I’ll be up in a moment."
"Okay," Ms. White nodded and led a group of people away, swaying their hips.
"William, Ms. White is like this, don’t argue with her."
Ms. White?
I looked at him with a half-smile. "Has Ms. White exploited you a lot?"
He scratched his head. "Let’s not talk about this. Come on, where should we sit?"
At the nearby cafe, I ordered two lattes. "Not to offend you, but you’re really not considerate enough."
