My Lady Always Lacks Ambition
Chapter 135 - 134 Ghost Gate Thirteen Needles

Chapter 135: Chapter 134 Ghost Gate Thirteen Needles

Yu Qiucai and his wife were both somewhat puzzled; if it wasn’t possession, then how could it be called being cursed?

"Miss Yu’s Bazi (Chinese astrology) is of a Yin nature, which means she is more likely to see things that others cannot. You must have sought a Peace Talisman for her to wear when she was younger, correct?"

"Ah, it’s really true." Mrs. Yu stepped forward, hooked out a red rope from her daughter’s neck with a crescent jade charm hung on it, and said, "This jade token, after Die’er was born and would not stop crying day and night, we took her to the temple to worship Buddha, and the presiding monk gave it to us saying that the child’s Bazi was weak, and wearing a jade charm could protect her from evil spirits. Indeed, she stopped crying once she wore this Jade Moon, and so she has always worn it. Over the years she has grown healthier, she likes it herself, and never took it off."

Qin Liuxi glanced at the crescent jade charm, which had some Sanskrit inscriptions on it, and nodded, "It’s Sanskrit, it seems that the monk indeed has merit, having consecrated and blessed it himself, there’s some Buddha nature in it."

The couple was overjoyed upon hearing this but immediately furrowed their brows with concern: "But, master, if she has the jade charm, why would the young girl still be cursed?"

"It’s not being cursed, but encountering evil." Qin Liuxi said, "Her Bazi is light, naturally, more prone to encountering unclean things. She must have been frightened by something unfavorable, resulting in the loss of a soul."

Mrs. Yu shuddered, "Lost a soul?"

"People have three souls and seven spirits. Heaven and Earth command the three souls; the Earth Soul governs the spirit and is Yang. She has lost her Earth Soul, that’s why she seems spiritless and then developed what you believe to be epileptic fits. Her Bazi is light, and with the Earth Soul lost, if it weren’t for the protection of this jade charm, she would probably have been possessed by evil spirits by now."

Not just Mrs. Yu, even Yu Qiucai, a grown man, was sweating at the temples and swallowing hard after hearing this. He looked at his daughter, who lay there listlessly on the bed, and said, "Master, you must save our girl, please help her retrieve her soul."

"Rest assured."

Qin Liuxi turned around, had Qi Huang, who was also dressed in men’s clothes, prepare everything, dismissed the onlookers, set up the incense burner and altar, and burned talismans to purify the air.

"Fetch an article of the young lady’s clothing." Qin Liuxi instructed Mrs. Yu, "You will call for the soul yourself later."

"Ah, okay."

Mrs. Yu personally fetched an article of clothing from her own daughter and held it in her hands, saying, "Master, do we not need to wait until night? The other shamans we invited only conducted the rituals at night."

"No need, the soul should not have wandered far." Qin Liuxi said with a smile to comfort them while affixing a Spirit Talisman at Miss Yu’s bedhead.

Mrs. Yu and her husband exchanged nervous glances. Once everything was ready, Qin Liuxi led them outside the room, burned a Soul Summoning Talisman, held three sticks of incense, and bowed three times, chanting, "Wandering soul in the vastness, where do you linger; the three souls descend early, the seven apertures have yet to be graced... Heaven Gate open, Earth Gate open, the ordained child to deliver the soul. Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad, hurry, hurry, by decree!"

She looked towards Mrs. Yu, "Call her name."

Mrs. Yu’s heart tightened, clutching the clothing she began calling Miss Yu’s name, over and over again.

Just as Qin Liuxi said, Miss Yu’s soul had not gone far, and quickly, lost and bewildered, she followed the voice back.

"It’s here." Qin Liuxi saw it, held the Soul Summoning Incense to guide the Earth Soul back to its place.

Once the Earth Soul was in place, Miss Yu jolted and after a moment of confusion, began flailing her arms and screaming at the top of her lungs, "Ah, mother, ghosts, so many ghosts!"

"Master, this!" Mrs. Yu was getting anxious.

Qin Liuxi gestured with her hand, pressed on a pressure point on Miss Yu’s arm, whispered a few spells into her ear, and after seeing her calm down, proceeded to take her pulse again and selected an acupuncture point, holding a silver needle she pierced the Ghost Palace, also known as Renzhong, at an angle, needling in three fen deep, immediately followed by Ghost Letter (Shaoshang) and Gui Lei (Yinbai), her needling precise and quick.

Yu Qiucai and Mrs. Yu looked somewhat baffled; wasn’t the soul already called back? Why use needles now?

Yet, fearing they would disturb Qin Liuxi, neither dared to ask, only steadfastly watched hand in hand from the side.

Qin Liuxi’s needling was quick; her needlework flew like a shadow. After all the Flying Needles were placed on several important acupoints, she lifted the needles slightly, then inserted them again before finally letting go completely.

It was only that Yu Qiucai and his wife were not experts; had it been someone experienced in the field, like the famously esteemed Divine Doctor Du Ren, they certainly would have recognized that Qin Liuxi’s acupuncture was the legendary Ghost Gate Thirteen Needles.

Seeing Qin Liuxi withdraw her hands, Mrs. Yu cautiously asked, "Master, if the soul has returned, why use needles?"

Qin Liuxi looked over and smiled, saying, "As they say, all manner of madness caused by evil spirits is an illness. Since there’s an illness, it naturally requires diagnosis and treatment. The soul has been called back, but it hasn’t been fully stabilized and enlightened yet. My acupuncture is to stabilize the soul and consolidate vital energy. After all, she has been soulless for several days, afflicted by hysteria due to insufficient vital energy. To fully integrate the returned soul with the other two souls and seven spirits, ample vital energy is necessary; only then will the hysteria be cured."

The two listened, barely understanding yet feeling as if enveloped by clouds, but they knew it all signified good things and seemed far more reliable than the doctors previously consulted; their hearts were significantly reassured.

While waiting during the needle retention period, Qin Liuxi also wrote out several prescriptions at the desk. Once she had finished prescribing, she removed the needles and massaged the needle points. It wasn’t long before Miss Yu slowly regained consciousness.

"Die’er?"

"Dad, Mom? Why are you both here?"

Yu Qiucai was instantly overjoyed and said, "Die’er, are you alright?"

"What could be wrong with me?" Miss Yu, having a spoiled temperament, seemed to recall something and her face turned pale, "Ghosts, so many ghosts. Dad, Mom, I saw so many ghosts."

"Master..." How could this be happening again?

Qin Liuxi raised her hand slightly and asked, "What did the people you saw look like? Did they say anything? Don’t be afraid, just tell me, it’s alright."

Her voice was very pleasant, and Miss Yu calmed down, tilting her head and saying, "It didn’t seem like much; I was admiring the moon in the courtyard when I saw them floating in unison towards the east, as if someone was leading them. It scared me to death. I screamed and they all looked over, their faces ghastly pale, and I fainted. When I woke up, I saw you all."

Qin Liuxi understood. It was likely those missing souls being summoned en masse passed by her location, and seeing them had startled her, causing her to lose a soul. It was fortunate she had a Jade Talisman, or else she might have been possessed by the Lonely Souls.

Mrs. Yu turned pale.

"Don’t worry, they were just passing by on their way to reincarnation and didn’t intend to harm anyone. You see, aren’t you sitting here just fine?" Qin Liuxi lied with a smile, and handed her a Peace Talisman. "Keep this Amulet in your wallet and carry it close to your body."

Miss Yu looked at Qin Liuxi’s face, blinked her eyes, and, with a red face, pinched the Amulet, asking somewhat shyly, "But who are you? Why are you in my boudoir?"

Seeing her daughter’s expression, Mrs. Yu thought: "!"

Qin Liuxi said, "I am a Daoist of Qingping Temple."

"Do all Daoists look as handsome as you?"

Yu Qiucai, coming to a realization much later: "..."

No, how has the atmosphere changed so quickly?
