Chapter 44: Chapter 17 Brothers Visit_2

The young couple was wearing matching outfits and being affectionate in the room, while downstairs, the introverted 2569 was hosting a group of unexpected visitors. Leading them was Ke Lian’s good comrade and brother, Mo Feng.

Of course, Ke Lian’s adjutant also came.

Since Mo Feng was leading the group, and there were quite a few familiar faces that 2569 had seen before, he didn’t stop them from entering. He just arranged for everyone to sit on the couch and then went upstairs to call the two hosts who were too engrossed.

"Knock, knock, knock!" 2569 tapped the door, but didn’t open it without permission, "Marshal, Madam, Master Mo Feng and the others are here."

Mo Feng held the rank of Colonel in the military, and he was Ke Lian’s college mate at the military academy. Among his peers, he advanced quickly, but not nearly as fast as Ke Lian.

Ke Lian was hugging Du Xixi on the bed, discussing the pregnancy check-up scheduled for tomorrow. Hearing this, he frowned, a hint of displeasure leaking through his eyes, "Why did they come? And at this moment..."

Had it been before, Ke Lian naturally wouldn’t think having his brothers over was a bad thing, but recently, Ke Lian has been obsessed with nurturing the relationship with Du Xixi. Outside of work, he cherishes every moment he could spend with her, naturally not wanting Mo Feng and the others to disrupt and waste this precious time.

However, Du Xixi had heard about Mo Ying, the capable sibling, and knew Ke Lian had a good relationship with Mo Feng and the others. She smiled upon hearing this and pushed Ke Lian, who was reluctant to let go of her, lightly and said softly, "You go greet them first, and I’ll tidy up here."

Unwillingly releasing Du Xixi from his embrace, Ke Lian stood up but still held her hand, his face cold but his voice gentle, "Leave this for tonight, come downstairs with me, it’s time to introduce you to them."

Being introduced to his brothers by someone she liked undeniably made Du Xixi very happy. She nodded, instinctively tidying her hair and clothes to ensure there was nothing inappropriate before allowing Ke Lian to lead her downstairs.

In the living room, the brothers including Mo Feng were curiously looking upstairs. One roguish and mischievous man nudged Mo Feng with his elbow and teased, "Did you trick us? Ke Lian with that foul temper actually likes a woman?"

"He doesn’t like men, why couldn’t he like women!" Mo Feng retorted, not wanting to engage them. If these guys hadn’t insisted on visiting the Ke family after hearing Ke Lian had been smitten, wanting to see the sister-in-law, and coerced Ke Lian’s adjutant to egg him on to lead, he wouldn’t have done this!

If Ke Lian found out, he’d surely cause him trouble!

Another man, wearing glasses and seeming proper, chuckled lightly. Even though his gaze was fixed on upstairs, his words were directed at Mo Feng, "You’re not being fair. Do you intend to keep it a secret with Ah Lan forever?"

When they first heard Ke Lian might have feelings, they couldn’t believe it. After all, back in the military academy, Ke Lian was very popular, yet he focused solely on studying and fighting. To him, those beauties secretly sending flirtatious glances might not even be as appealing as a fragment of an ancient battle map.

Although Ke Lian was married, everyone close knew it was Ke Xing who ordered it. They knew that, while the woman was pitiful, Ke Lian had no emotional foundation with her.

Other than Ke Xing, nobody held any hope for this marriage. In their view, Ke Lian and that woman were bound to divorce sooner or later.

But as time went on, Ke Lian not only didn’t divorce, they even heard from the military hospital that Ke Lian’s wife was pregnant, all dating back to their wedding night!

Now, it was clear that Ke Lian wasn’t going to initiate a divorce due to responsibility, no matter what. The brothers secretly considered helping Ke Lian by getting the woman to propose the divorce herself.

Yet, before they could act, during a visit to the Mo family, they heard Mo Ying speaking highly of the Marshal’s Wife, praising her so much, thinking Ke Lian, with his perpetually stern face, was unworthy of her.

And Mo Feng and the adjutant, who were present at the time, provided answers to their barrage of questions, knowing, as they were constantly by Ke Lian’s side on the battlefield, that Ke Lian actually missed his newly-wedded wife dearly.

Knowing Ke Lian was truly going to become emotionally invested, the brothers’ various ideas naturally converged. After all, being Ke Lian’s brothers, thinking of Ke Lian’s best interest was what they should do.
