Lu’s mother was pruning flowers in the yard when she got the call. She lived on the ground floor, and there were already a few flower and grass plants in the yard. Lu Weixi had asked her to plant flowers, and specifically mentioned that when the flowers bloomed, they would take a family photo with the children.

This hospital wasn’t top-ranked, but it was already the best within a fifty-kilometer radius. If he were to look for another hospital, coming down from the mountain would require at least an additional hour.

An hour, in the race against time for emergency treatment, was a luxury he couldn’t afford.

Lu’s mother wasn’t a fool; she’d roughly read through the clamor of various messages these days. The news targeting Lu Weixi had just been released, and she hadn’t seen it yet, but Qin Zhiyou must have his reasons for having his daughter and grandchild deliver at that hospital. Any further speculation would be futile.

Indeed, Qin Zhiyou added, "Don’t worry, I promise you, I will bring Wei Hui back to you safe and sound!"

He adored children, but he cherished his wife even more. He had already made his choice; when signing the consent form for the surgery, he had written "Save my wife at all costs." Lu’s mother could tell, and she nodded heavily, "Alright, I’ll trust you once more. From now on, I won’t look at any news or care about any reports. I just need you to bring Wei Hui back to me intact."

After hanging up the phone, Qin Zhiyou was silent for a long while. Secretary Wang’s call came through with a detailed public relations strategy, which he barely glanced at before saying, "First and foremost, we must clarify the situation with Wei Hui. She has nothing to do with this matter. I don’t want to play the sympathy card; I just don’t want mother and child to get dragged into this. I trust your PR skills; do whatever needs to be done.
