At the company, the pile of official business continued to grow; over there, Lu Weixi felt that the kidnappers were preparing to move.

The two kidnappers first loosened the ropes around her feet. One of them untied her while the other pressed a knife point against her neck: "Behave yourself, don’t move around. If you scrape against the knife and die, don’t blame us for your death."

Lu Weixi naturally wouldn’t act recklessly, remaining as still as a mannequin. They loosened the ropes around her legs and soon after her hands behind her back. Even with her hands and feet freed, she didn’t dare to move. At her neck, she deliberately rubbed it lightly, drawing a sharp line of burning pain—a clear sign the knife was real! Fortunately, the spot she rubbed wasn’t near a major artery or vein, otherwise, she would have been done for at this point!

After being tied up for an entire day with only a few sips of water and no food, she was grateful she had used the restroom before the abduction; otherwise, she would have been unbearably uncomfortable by now. She knew what the kidnappers meant. They had just made a phone call and, fearing location exposure, they needed to change spots quickly.

But this was also an opportunity! Far better than being continuously bound with no chance of escape! The kidnappers prompted her to walk, and she followed. Although her limbs were freed, her eyes were still covered, and she couldn’t see the path. The only thing she did was, while walking, wipe her neck wound as if checking her injury. However, as she was about to exit the warehouse door, she quietly smeared the blood from her hand onto the doorframe. And as she withdrew her hand, she picked off a small piece of wood chip.

This subtle action didn’t attract the kidnappers’ notice. Firstly, it was dark, and secondly, as she was blindfolded, her gesture merely seemed like normal wayfinding. Soon, Lu Weixi was loaded into the car with the kidnappers. Just like before, they attempted to drug her to knock her out. But this time, Lu Weixi had a wound on her neck, and clutching the wood chip pressed against her palm kept the pain sharp and her conscious. She felt a long car ride and heard what seemed like the sound of train tracks being crossed, not just once but twice.

The kidnappers did not go toward the city. Despite it being late at night, there were chances of encountering traffic police in the city, with its populous and mixed crowd. Throughout the journey, she also heard many dogs barking; the temperature at the end was a couple of degrees cooler than in the city or the previous warehouse, and the humidity was higher.

After the car stopped, the two kidnappers nudged her; Lu Weixi pretended to be just regaining consciousness and staggered out of the car with them. This time it was unlike any warehouse, but more like a dense forest in the mountains. After following them there and behaving with complete compliance, she became so weak during the retying that she almost collapsed. The kidnappers cursed, but they did not tie her up as tightly as before.

Once they had finished tying her up, she was thrown into a pile of straw. The surroundings were still completely empty, and although the weather was turning warmer, it felt bone-chillingly cold in the dense forest. Only when the two outside had fallen silent did she secretly start to use the wooden splinter she had picked off to slowly grind away at the ropes.

She had to survive, she absolutely must survive! No matter the cost, she was determined to live!
