Indeed, it’s not common for someone to have their wife followed unless they’re trying to catch her cheating on something. Having understood the crisis at Hanhai today, Lu Weixi no longer held anything against Qin Zhiyou for the matter.

Lu Weixi nodded, thinking that even if it was a misunderstanding, it showed that Qin Zhimei and Cai Yiren still had some respect for her; even if they held a grudge, they wouldn’t dare do anything to her.

"I’m fine now, so you don’t need to come again. Starting tomorrow, I will stay at home to rest before the birth and seldom go out."

Although Qin Zhiyou meant well, having someone follow her did indeed cause some inconveniences. Anyway, she wouldn’t be going to work for the next few months, so surely confining herself wouldn’t be an issue?

Given his relationship with Qin Zhiyou, this bit of help was nothing. At midnight, the car always travels quite fast. In less than half an hour, Lu Weixi had already arrived outside the Lu Family’s old residence.

Although there are many residential complexes, it was now deep into the night, and there were hardly any people on the streets. Yet, parking spaces lined up all the way to the further main intersection. One glance at the situation and she knew that within the complex as well as nearby, there were simply no parking spots available. Lu Weixi had to ask the Yu Family’s driver to park the car at an intersection some distance from the complex, then walk home.

The Lu Family’s old house was in the city center, not a business district. Two intersections away was N University, and the surrounding area was mostly residential complexes. Because there were so many complexes, mostly older ones, the roads were quite narrow, and the roadside was lined with tall maple trees. They looked beautiful during the day, but at night, they added an uncanny chill to the air.

Especially recently, for some reason, the street lights at the intersections had gone out, and the city maintenance had not yet managed to replace them. The road was enveloped in dimness, and with the desolate moonlight, even footsteps seemed to echo as one walked.

Yet, in such a place, Lu Weixi always felt like someone was following her from behind.
