Chapter 870: Please Be Gentle Before Killing Me
Chapter 870: Chapter 870: Please Be Gentle Before Killing Me
In the room deep within the nightmare, cabinets filled with various personalities are arranged. At the end of all the personalities, there is a brain floating in a jar.
Before the Director’s true body could arrive, Han Fei, treading on the mottled fate, ran to the center of this mental ghost creature. He lifted the jar on the table with both hands, tightening all the threads of personality, and at that moment, he seemed to have lifted the entire absurd world.
"Will you live in the jar enjoying a lifetime of illusion, or open your eyes to see the bloody reality?"
Han Fei already had an answer in his heart. Following what Number Two said, he fiercely smashed the jar onto the ground!
"Boom!"
Cracks appeared on the walls and floor around him, and along with the shattering of the jar, this fantasized mental world also broke apart.
All the personalities in the cabinets awoke from the nightmare, clusters of light floated out from their decayed skulls and gathered toward where Han Fei stood. The scene was incredibly shocking.
Standing on the shattered world, Han Fei stared blankly at the ground.
The jar represents binding and also the mental ghost creature, while the brain hidden in the jar suggests something more. It is Number Two’s brain and also represents the Director’s desire for control, symbolizing every intruder trapped in place.
"The brain-in-jar connects the ghost creature and reality, manipulating and dominating all personalities. Swallow it into your consciousness, directing all personalities into the Greed Abyss!"
Without the interference of the mental ghost creature, Number Two’s voice became clear.
Han Fei held up the brain fragment on the ground like a ruby in both hands. The brain fragment seemed to sense something, voluntarily merging with Han Fei’s will.
The degree of fusion deepened continuously, and Han Fei’s connection with all personalities in the mental hospital also gradually deepened.
"I want to kill you!"
A gloomy voice emerged from the depths of the ghost cave, echoing from all around Han Fei. The fusion of Han Fei and Number Two’s brain fragments took time, as did swallowing all the personalities into the Greed Abyss—a long process.
"Hold on! Don’t give up no matter what. If your will shatters, all previous efforts will be in vain, and no one can help you escape the mental ghost creature!"
It was the first time Han Fei heard Number Two’s voice so urgent in his memory. He seemed to stand at the first node of fate, where the outcome of failure was soul scattering.
"Has the Director caught up?" Han Fei looked up, seeing a giant monster emerging from the ground, its arms wrapped in reddish-brown blood silk, with children’s graffiti all over its body.
All the monsters feared by children were painted on it, and pairs of eyes loomed beneath the blood silk.
The angry roar nearly pierced Han Fei’s eardrums. The monster representing the Director’s true body grabbed Han Fei in one swift motion, its sharp claws piercing through Han Fei’s body easily. It wanted to dig the brain fragment out of Han Fei but failed.
Blood flowed profusely; everything in this mental world was incredibly real, and only reality could provoke the greatest fear in the living heart.
"After the fusion is complete, the mental ghost creature will collapse. You must ensure that your will isn’t destroyed!" Number Two’s voice faded from Han Fei’s heart, as the jewel-like brain fragment nearly submerged into Han Fei’s consciousness. The fate of the two seemed to touch and reshape the future.
"No one can fuse with that brain. Hand it over, or I’ll make you experience all the world’s pain!" The monster, in a rage, tore at Han Fei, but to its surprise, the fear formed into its existence couldn’t easily shatter Han Fei’s will.
Though the will persisted, the pain and despair were real. Han Fei saw clearly his body being pierced by claws, his flesh and blood like red rain and snow falling through the air.
"I’ve been through more painful things than this, and there are thirty children watching behind me. How could I bow my head just like that?"
Kuangxiao carried the pain of the thirty children, and one of the culprits was the Director before him. Han Fei gritted his teeth; he wouldn’t show a trace of fear before the Director.
The monster’s grasp over the brain fragment weakened increasingly. It tore Han Fei into an unrecognizable shape, imposing the most painful and horrifying experiences it had suffered on Han Fei: bones crushed into a narrow sauce jar, legs dismantled and installed on a cart, toys combined with flesh and blood, endless electric shocks, and all sorts of chaotic pills.
Han Fei’s will was barely hanging on, yet the final flame couldn’t be extinguished; his eyes fixed on the monster, his face with a ferocious smile.
"Everything you’ve done to me today, I’ll remember it wholly."
The children had undergone various experiments in the Director’s hands back then. Now Han Fei was enduring the same pain, unable to imagine how those young children survived the Director’s torment.
Mental and physical torture doubled. The Director, familiar with human nature and understanding all kinds of personalities, excelled at identifying human weaknesses, then delivering maximum pain.
"Unwilling to hand over the brain? Then die!"
The monster had always worried about destroying the Divine Spirit-bestowed brain. By the time it made up its mind, Han Fei’s will and the brain’s fusion had reached the final stage.
Different fates were forcibly twisted together, creating another tributary to the river leading to the future. The worst outcome was gradually being shaken.
"How could you fuse with the brain that even Divine Spirits couldn’t integrate?"
In the Director’s eyes, Divine Spirits were omnipotent, and this preconceived notion wasted the most precious few seconds.
All personalities rushed into Han Fei’s consciousness, and the world in his eyes began to change!
Thunderous sounds continued to explode, the vast mental ghost creature collapsing from within, the monster formed by countless fears being dragged underground by a force. Han Fei once again felt the presence of Greed Personality and Healing Personality. In the journey back to reality, he regained his self.
The cabinet toppled, the walls collapsed, and the world in his eyes folded and shattered, like a mirror breaking into pieces.
When everything stabilized again, the various personalities forming the mental ghost creature, constructed by the Director, were all swallowed into Han Fei’s Greed Abyss. The aura emanating from him was entirely different from before, seemingly indicating the seventh awakening of the Greed Personality.
Dense black mist surrounded from all sides, and the mental ghost creature trapping everyone began to crumble with Han Fei at its center.
One by one, the Investigation Bureau members who had fallen into the mental ghost creature awoke from their nightmares, looking towards the direction where Han Fei stood, gazing at the only one breaking the impasse.
No one knew how Han Fei managed it, but they could be certain of one thing: the teacher from the school saved everyone once more.
"Executioner! Impermanence!"
Two massive Grudges appeared on Han Fei’s left and right. The floor was pierced through, and he stood atop the Large-scaled Grudge’s head on the Black Building, like a new rising flag in the Investigation Bureau.
"Find the Director’s true form! Slay him!"
The Black Fire of Hatred ignited in Han Fei’s Consciousness Sea, and Big Fish leaped out of the Abyss, wandering inside the Mental Hospital.
The scattered members of the Investigation Bureau flocked towards Han Fei; he was their hope at this moment.
Using the Black Ring, Han Fei coordinated all investigation teams, leading them to swiftly destroy the foundation of the mental ghost creature.
"Boom!"
A loud bang echoed after another ten minutes, the main building of the third Mental Hospital started trembling, the flames of Revenge collided with the Black Fire of Hatred.
"All combat units, immediately move into pre-set positions!"
"Activate all devices!"
After the mental ghost creature was disrupted, everything fell into the rhythm of the Investigation Bureau; Fu Lie, particularly watched over by the Director, walked out of the ghost creature, with Revenge flames all over him, fighting against a swirling red Blood Silk-coated Hatred underneath the main building.
Eight personality awakenings, Fu Lie seemed to be Eternal Life Pharmaceutical’s trump card against Ghosts and Monsters. Their initial personality research wasn’t entirely a failure, the sacrifices of those children had some value.
In the distance, Han Fei also saw Fu Lie engaging the Director directly, humans exhausting their power of Personality, utilizing various means to amplify, finally possessing the ability to combat Hatred.
Decades after the great disaster, struggling in life and death, no living person ever felt even a moment’s desire to give up.
"The Director’s main force is used to restrain Fu Lie and other Investigation Bureau members; so many special personalities entering the mental ghost creature indeed posed a great pressure."
If the Director hadn’t focused on dealing with others, Han Fei would have had no chance to endure through.
"A truly fearsome monster, such a ghost must be set to soul scattering early!"
The Ghosts and Monsters within the Mental Hospital were cleared and devoured by Han Fei, the Director gradually pressured by Fu Lie and Investigation Bureau members into the negative third floor of the main building.
The mysterious Mental Hospital was conquered by the Investigation Bureau, doors to wards unreached by living people since the disaster opened, revealing scenes of horrifying atrocities.
The school previously prepared Sacrificial Offerings for the Black Building, many street children who lost their parents, and children psychologically distorted by the Ghosts and Monsters were sent here, becoming the Director’s new test subjects.
The former Director worked for Eternal Life Pharmaceutical, using orphanage children for personality experiments, even post-disaster he didn’t change, continuously creating various twisted and deviant Monsters.
If not for Han Fei, Fu Lie and other Investigation Bureau members might have been trapped within the mental ghost creature, slowly tortured to death by emerging personality Monsters.
"This reprehensible Madman doesn’t know how many innocent children he killed! We must not let him escape!" Voices of group leaders continually transmitted from the Black Ring, echoing with Han Fei’s sentiment.
Investigation Bureau members advanced step by step, unexpectedly, Fu Lie seemed to know the Director, they were seemingly colleagues before the disaster occurred!
Nevertheless, looking at the current predicament reveals, the Director betrayed Fu Lie, thus when battling, Fu Lie’s Revenge Personality had a stronger effect.
"After the battle, I need to have a proper inquiry with Fu Lie to unravel his and Fu Tian’s connection with Eternal Life Pharmaceutical."
Han Fei had grown to a level where he could sway the outcome of the battle, there were two Hatred ghosts in the Greed Abyss; one had ignited the Black Fire. With such synergy with Fu Lie, it was hard for the Director to turn the tables.
After all, the Director differed from other ghosts, his strength lay in bizarre methods and remarkably strong learning, research, and analysis. The third Mental Hospital was the realm for deciphering living human abilities; his comprehension of personality research was profound, even comparable to major Survivor Bases.
If not for No. 2 assisting, preemptively sensing the brain’s location, the mental ghost creature alone was enough to keep it in an invincible position.
The Director’s mental ghost creature seemed to emulate the Shrine Memory World, centered around his own fear, intending to construct a world capable of absorbing terror and perpetually self-improving. Once sufficient personalities and fears were gathered, it might genuinely become an Unspeakable controlling fear. Han Fei silently drew the Rebirth Slaughter Saber, "He mustn’t escape!"
The black mist of Greed surged like tides, Han Fei hadn’t had time to investigate after merging with the No. 2 brain, but he already sensed the Greed Personality and Healing Personality becoming stronger.
When he exerted his personality, all Investigation Bureau members nearby felt afraid, as if being close, their Souls would be devoured by Han Fei as well.
