My ‘Healing’ Game -
Chapter 82: Clearing the Sixth Floor
Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Clearing the Sixth Floor
When he maximized the photo, Han Fei still couldn’t make out what the blurred black shadow was. He stared blankly at the screen, his mind racing furiously.
"The person deliberately took this photo, they probably wanted to tell me something through it, otherwise, they wouldn’t have used my phone to take a photo, let alone keep it in my phone."
"But why would they do that? Could it be that they can’t communicate with me, or perhaps they only appear when I’m playing the game? Do they want to hint at something in this way?"
Han Fei became more and more puzzled, the photo made his scalp tingle, and even the joy of realizing his dreams had dissipated.
"My phone has fingerprint unlocking, they moved my body, but they didn’t harm me. The person who took the photo probably didn’t intend to harm me, considering the photo was taken the day after I played the game. If they wanted to harm me, they could have killed me right there."
"Could it be that the Tomb Guardian from the second-hand store took the photo?"
Han Fei felt that things were not that simple, and he also noticed various issues with the Black Box: "Many people are looking for the Black Box, the original developer of Perfect Life, and the deranged Butterfly. Perhaps in the future, I will encounter even more strange and terrifying people."
Those people are looking for the Black Box, but since the Black Box is in Han Fei’s head, the only way they could get it would be to open his skull.
Slowly clenching his fingers, Han Fei remembered that the first time he quit the game, the system had reminded him to speed up his exploration.
"The Black Box is in my head, and I can’t get rid of it even if I quit the game. What I can do now is to explore the game, level up; perhaps the truth is hidden within the game."
Han Fei was staring at the gaming helmet on the table when suddenly, a knock at the door startled him.
He was shocked and hid a fruit knife behind his back, tiptoeing to the door.
Looking through the peephole, Han Fei saw Li Xue standing at his door.
Putting away the fruit knife, Han Fei’s expression had returned to normal by the time he opened the door, "How did you get here? Did your boss ask you to return to the detective squad?"
"I’d like to go back, but the boss has given me a new task," said Li Xue as she entered the room and closed the door, "He said, until Butterfly is caught, I should work at the police station and not worry about other things. The focus is to patrol your neighborhood."
"He wants you to protect me?"
"That’s about right, you’re now a high-priority protection target. Everything looks normal around here, but we have intense surveillance. If Butterfly dares to show up, they’re certain to be caught," Li Xue grabbed a cup from the table and gulped down some water, "I just came to let you know. Also, new surveillance cameras were installed in your apartment. If you encounter any danger, just run to an area with surveillance and wave, the duty police will immediately come over."
"I really appreciate that," Han Fei said, gratitude lifting his sense of security, which had been lacking.
"You’re welcome." Li Xue told Han Fei the locations of the surveillance cameras in the apartment building, then she left.
"The police’s protection is to my benefit; at least now I can play the game without worry."
Han Fei glanced at the wall clock; it was still early. He picked up a book from the table and began to study.
As midnight approached, Han Fei started recalling the structure of the apartment building in the game: "Last time I logged off, I had already left room 1074. After I log in again, I just need to keep running downstairs."
Han Fei first rehearsed several times in his mind, memorizing every move. After connecting all sorts of wires, he put on the gaming helmet.
As blood descended, Han Fei didn’t wait for the internal prompt to sound; the moment he opened his eyes, he dashed downstairs like a cheetah.
Without looking back, he ran all the way to room 1044.
It was only after he entered the room that he breathed a sigh of relief.
"The mirror on the seventh floor doesn’t guard a corpse, it seems to be a decent person."
After closing the door, Han Fei went to the bedroom near the living room in the Haunted House and comfortably lay down on the bed.
"First, rest for an hour, then spend an hour memorizing the books I’ve read at home, and practice combat skills for another hour."
Han Fei’s rest didn’t involve lying down to sleep, but rather thinking. In the bedroom of the Haunted House, he pondered over all the tasks he needed to complete and the various doubts in his mind—he desperately needed answers now.
After the initial three hours had passed, Han Fei opened the Attribute Panel. First, he added the Skill Points obtained from the hidden task to Acting, then he looked at the Task Panel.
"F-level Task—Human-body Puzzle has two days left. If I can complete this task beyond my level, it will definitely benefit me greatly." Han Fei took out the landlord’s spare key from the Item Bar: "I have keys to all the doors in the building, but the keys do not have room labels. I need to try them one by one, which will waste a lot of time. Staying in the dangerous hallway for too long is very risky. It would be good if I could persuade Xu Qin to join me."
"Besides the Human-body Puzzle task, there’s also a G mainline task to explore the sixth floor. The Outsiders on the sixth floor should mostly be dead by now. I’ll complete this task first, and after I can exit the game freely, I’ll search for the scattered Human-body Puzzle pieces in the apartment building."
Han Fei was very alert. He knew how to use the game rules to protect himself, and without being reckless, he could maximize his benefits.
Having made his preparations, Han Fei no longer delayed and quietly left room 1044.
He wasn’t sure if it was his imagination, but the apartment building seemed to have become quieter.
"Did some neighbors move out while I was away?"
Leaning against the wall, Han Fei slowly made his way to the fifth floor, only to regretfully find that Xu Qin seemed not to have returned yet.
"Could she have gotten into trouble? She hasn’t been home for two days!"
After trying to knock on the door and receiving no response, Han Fei had no choice but to head to the sixth floor alone.
The Outsiders living on the sixth floor were almost all gone, having been caught while hunting Han Fei. The sixth floor was now relatively safe.
"When I was doing the task to explore the fifth floor, I had to visit all four rooms for the task to be considered successful. This task to explore the sixth floor should be similar."
Han Fei took out the landlord’s spare key, controlled his breathing, and began trying the keys one by one.
Throughout the process, Han Fei didn’t make any noise.
Perhaps it was the effect of a high Luck Value, but it didn’t take many attempts for Han Fei to open the door to room 1061. Inside, he saw a large amount of blood and tools used to torture people.
"Xu Qin was right, these Outsiders can’t really be considered human."
After spending about fifteen minutes, Han Fei had "cleared" both rooms 1061 and 1062. He looted everything that the system could identify, including some feminine male-tailored poisons and blood bags used to accelerate the growth of Human Pupae.
Han Fei had previously visited room 1064, and now he just needed to enter room 1063 for the exploration task to be completed.
So far, everything had gone smoothly. But as he prepared to try the door to room 1063, the strangest footsteps suddenly echoed in the hallway, and they were very close to him.
