Chapter 812: The World through a Madman’s Eyes Becomes Reality

Chapter 812: Chapter 812: The World through a Madman’s Eyes Becomes Reality

Her gaze froze in the corner of the room, and Caibao’s body became completely rigid. Her face turned pale almost instantly, and cold sweat started to pour out.

The cat was hidden behind the door; in the closed bedroom, the sheets were fluttering slightly, and her fingertips touched something.

Black rain fell on the glass window, and immense fear swallowed Caibao. She let out a sharp scream, fell to the ground, and hurriedly crawled away from the bed.

Her back hit the wall, and Caibao gathered the last of her courage to hold the cat hidden behind the door, watching nervously under the bed.

The drooping sheets started to flutter again, like undulating waves.

She held her breath, afraid to make any sound, her eyes glued to the sheets, as if the "thing" under the bed was about to emerge!

Her heartbeat continued to accelerate, but the sheets returned to normal.

Everything seemed like an illusion scaring herself, though the black rain outside seemed to be pouring down harder.

Caibao dared not stay in the room, she hugged the cat and ran to the living room.

"I need to leave quickly!"

She hurriedly put on her shoes and was about to open the security door when she suddenly heard the familiar cat meowing.

She looked down and saw the cat in her arms was motionless, the sound clearly coming from elsewhere.

Instinctively, she turned to look at the bedroom, where the drooping sheets were flipped open, and a twisted-faced man was crawling out from under the bed, his head emerged from the sheets, continuously meowing.

Caibao’s legs turned weak with fear, the man’s body seemed boneless as he crawled from under the bed, quickly moved out of the bedroom, and into the living room!

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

There was a knocking sound, and Liuli Cat shouted Caibao’s name from outside the door, immediately snapping Caibao back to reality. She used her last strength to open the door: "Run! Don’t come in!"

With one arm hugging her cat and the other holding Liuli Cat outside the door, she urged Liuli Cat to leave quickly, like a heroine in a horror film.

"What did you see?"

"Leave quickly! He’s going to chase me! He’s already crawled into the living room!"

"But there’s no one in your house!" Liuli Cat pressed down on Caibao’s shoulder: "Calm down! Your cat is frightened."

Under Liuli Cat’s soothing, Caibao began to calm down. She looked at the cat in her arms, all the bloodstains had vanished, but her arm was left with scratches from the cat.

When Caibao let go, the cat in her arms seemed terrified, desperately trying to escape.

"Did you have a hallucination?" Liuli Cat guided Caibao back inside, specifically running into the bedroom to look under the sheets, finding nothing beneath.

"Impossible." Caibao still had immense fear of the bed: "I saw a man hiding under my bed, his body was like a cat, I even touched his face! Yes! I touched his face! It was cold!"

"Caibao, listen to me, there’s a problem with the ’Perfect Life’ game, many of the people who’ve played it are experiencing anomalies." Liuli Cat held Caibao’s shoulders, trying to help her fearful friend recover: "These are fake, negative emotions from that game, amplifying insecurities from your memory."

"Insecurities from my memory?" Caibao didn’t quite understand Liuli Cat’s words.

"Have you ever had a terrifying experience related to beds or cats?"

"Terrifying memory..." Caibao thought for a moment, then her face turned somewhat dreadful: "When I was little, I lived with my grandmother. One evening, while playing hide-and-seek with friends, I passed a cemetery and saw an old cat with injuries."

"And then?"

"I couldn’t bear it, so I secretly brought it back home, but I was afraid my grandmother would scold me, so I hid it under the bed. The cat was old and seemed human-like, didn’t make noise, quietly ate and drank, but I gradually noticed that the old cat was always watching me, as if mimicking my actions." Though it happened many years ago, recalling it still frightens Caibao.

"It’s okay, take your time." Liuli Cat gently held Caibao’s cold hands, constantly comforting her.

"After about a week, the old cat died under the bed, and I inexplicably got a fever. Later, my grandmother found out what happened, hired someone to chop the home’s bed into a coffin, burned it along with the old cat’s corpse. At that time, my parents were working out of town, so my grandmother took me to see a doctor, gave me an IV during the day, and stayed by my bed yelling at me after midnight. According to the nurse, my grandmother scolded me for two whole nights. On the third day, I suddenly got better."

"Your grandmother probably wasn’t scolding you, but the old cat." Liuli Cat poured Caibao a cup of hot water, as Caibao furiously wiped her hands with a towel before taking the cup: "What are you doing?"

"The black rain stained my hands, it’s sticky and smelly! Can’t wipe it off!"

"Black rain?" Liuli Cat looked out the window: "It did rain today, but it seems no different from usual?"

"Look closely!" Caibao stood and pointed at the window glass: "The rain is clearly black! Like smelly blood!"

"Could it be only those with mental anomalies, affected by that power, see the black rain?" Liuli Cat decided not to argue further with Caibao, she took out her phone and informed Huang Ying about the situation there; many Kaidan and strange things that once only existed in people’s mind are gradually turning real.

After connecting the call, Huang Ying immediately told Liuli Cat to take Caibao and leave first. He was also overwhelmed, as strange things began happening after nightfall.

A night-shift taxi driver, just starting his ride, found half a white cloth hidden beneath the seat. He intended to check it, but heard the car door opening, and when he looked up again, someone had sat in the backseat without him noticing.

The passenger requested to pick someone up from a place that had a fire incident, the driver, puzzled, started the car, but the passengers outside kept knocking on the car door, seemingly cursing why a vacant car wouldn’t pick them up?

A delivery person, after a busy day, suddenly noticed black rain falling from the sky. He ran into a community with the last delivery, but no matter how many calls he made, the recipient wouldn’t answer.

Looking up, a woman on a balcony on one floor was constantly waving at him, seemingly shouting something.

The delivery person hurriedly ran into the building, but accidentally slipped, the meal box fell, and a large amount of black hair poured out from it.

He hadn’t yet come to his senses when he saw a woman standing in the hallway, constantly beckoning to him...

Putting down the phone that kept bringing new reports, Huang Ying rubbed his temples: "It’s not just people who played the ’Perfect Life’ game that are acting strangely, patients who used Deep Space Technology’s psychological therapy aids are also starting to show problems. How many more attack methods does the ’Ghost’ have?"

Initially, those things were just illusions and hysteria, but through communication with Han Fei, Huang Ying realized that it wouldn’t be long before those things would probably appear for real!

A coalition of the Unspeakable wasn’t just targeting a single city; they aimed to use Xinhu as a fulcrum to pry open the real world, overthrowing all order and rules.

"The mutations are happening a bit fast; I should notify Han Fei." Huang Ying took out his encrypted phone, but no matter what, he couldn’t get through to Han Fei.

...

Riding the city train, Han Fei returned to the Old City District with the supplies he had purchased. It was still evening, but the sky had already darkened.

Clouds gathered over Xinhu, and soon raindrops began to fall.

Han Fei looked at the black raindrops falling on him and stayed for a moment; he slowly raised his head.

Endless darkness seemed to want to bury the entire city, the sky full of malicious black rain.

"Has the night come early?"

Running into the community, Han Fei ignored all the abnormalities, opened his apartment door, and used the cooking skills he honed in the Deep World to prepare a large table of meat dishes, then placed all the chairs he could find around the dining table.

After cleaning the kitchen knife, Han Fei sat in the main seat. He looked at those empty positions, as if speaking to himself: "I don’t care if you are illusions or real, since you’ve come, I will treat you with good food and drink, but if you dare to play tricks, the next ones on the dining table will be you, and I mean what I say."

There was clearly only Han Fei in the room, and he knew it too, but he still made a large table of dishes; this was his way of hospitality.

Regardless of whether the "friends" were full or not, Han Fei had a big meal. Before lying into the Game Box, he thoroughly checked the room, finally taking out his phone to check the information.

No one had called him, and all information was still in the memo.

Then Han Fei opened the album, but the most eerie photo had been deleted.

"Someone tampered with my phone."

Han Fei had previously found a special photo on his phone. The photographer used his phone to take a picture of him playing a game, seemingly trying to inform Han Fei of their existence through this method.

The photo was gone, but there was an extra piece of information on the last page of the memo.

"Day is called Night, Day is crying, Night is laughing. When Night departs, it will return the smile to Day."

After nightfall, the rain became heavier, and black raindrops continuously smashed against the window glass.

It was due to the presence of this black rain that made Han Fei somewhat dazed, even causing him to feel as if he hadn’t yet left the game.

"If I can’t stop the Garden Owner and the Dream’s Will, this city will probably become indistinguishable from the Deep World." Han Fei now understood Fu Sheng’s choice, but he still wouldn’t take Fu Sheng’s path: "Perhaps I’ll have to pay a thousand times the price to let both worlds see the light; this road is destined to be harder than the one Fu Sheng chose, but if no one does it, what’s the point of an unchanging future?"

Putting on the game helmet, Han Fei closed the door of the Game Box.

Blood descended, and everything in sight was covered in blood stains. Han Fei felt a slight relief on his back, as if part of the burden he carried was shared by someone else.

"I wonder which unlucky soul helped me bear the pressure?"

Opening his eyes again, Han Fei returned to the Skyscraper. His absence wasn’t short, and something new might have happened inside the building.

Touching the Ghost Pattern, Han Fei only dared to open the door after summoning Big Evil.

Darkness, decay, rust, and filth, all the dirty elements instantly brought Han Fei back to his state.

Han Fei reached out to touch the ground, the Soul of Evil showed no reaction. He checked the Item Bar and found the second brain fragment quietly lying in the corner.

When Han Fei removed the fragment, only then did the flesh and blood around him start to gather.

A few minutes later, the body of the "Director" reassembled in front of Han Fei. When Han Fei placed the second brain fragment into the Director’s body, the Soul of Evil’s dark Double Eyes appeared in the Director’s eye sockets.

"This is not fun at all; I feel like my body was torn into pieces." The gaze of the Soul of Evil remained cold and malevolent: "It seems I would fall into eternal sleep once you leave."

"What? Do you want to kill me and replace me?" Han Fei squinted his eyes and replied nonchalantly.

"Keep your distance from that Soul of Evil in the future. Staying too close will make you dark as well." The Soul of Evil looked behind Han Fei with a peculiar expression, but he didn’t say much more about it.

"What about the others?"

"I’ll take you to them." The Soul of Evil’s bloody limbs melded into the ground, leading Han Fei to a Grave House on the 25th floor where Ji Zheng and the others hid.

"Are you all okay?" Han Fei found that no one was injured and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Something major happened on the 50th floor, the elevator transporting corpses hasn’t stopped." Ji Zheng held the hand of the Fear Boy, shaved his beard, and quit drinking, looking several years younger.

"Same as before? Heads exploding once the bodies come down?"

"No, the ways of dying are varied, the whole building is in chaos now." Ji Zheng took out a few photos he had taken: "The Night Watchman blood silhouetted Extreme Authority, Death Duty kills everywhere, all Taboos have been triggered, and a new Hatred has entered the building."
