Chapter 803: Death, or Rebirth

Chapter 803: Chapter 803: Death, or Rebirth

When human lives are plainly priced, one can witness such a bloody absurd scene.

The rooms in the corridor are all converted into shops, and each shop is connected to its own "breeding area" behind. Cold metal doors separate the "livestock" from the diners. When a diner chooses those "livestock" that look similar to themselves, they can contact the shop owner to "bring them out."

In such a bloody and brutal place, it’s surprisingly lively, filled with a festive atmosphere everywhere.

Today is Meat Eating Day, even those victims suffering from severe illnesses and waiting for death crawl out from hiding places, reaching out their hands and tongues like dogs, hoping for the "kindhearted" merchants to give away some unwanted bad meat.

Ordinarily, the merchants wouldn’t acknowledge those victims, but after night falls, they become generous. The entire street is harmonious, with exquisite meat food continuously brought out, waiting for the purchase of the top-level big shots.

Listening to the cries of street vendors, and those hearty laughs and conversations, strips of blood silk appeared in Han Fei’s pupils.

Wiping away the blood on his palm, Han Fei and Ji Zheng stood at the entrance of the corridor, looking towards the end of the hallway.

Meat banners woven from the skins of various "animals" hang at the entrance, colorful and emitting a strange meat aroma. Each shop has its sign written large, and there are tasting "snacks" for the diners displayed on the cart at the door.

Upon closer inspection, price lists are posted on the walls. "Ingredients" have strict evaluation standards, and color, aroma, and taste are just the basics. Only an amateur would care about the five senses and appearance; truly top-notch ingredients have special characteristics, and the experience of consuming "them" is a perfect experience hard to replicate.

"Which floor are you two coming from?" The merchant greeted with a smile, glancing at Han Fei’s pocket. Just one glance was enough to determine Han Fei’s wealth: "Tonight is Meat Eating Day. Everyone will bring out their treasured ingredients. If you two bosses are interested, you can come in and have a look. I’ve saved some ’meat’ that would otherwise only be sent to the top fifty floors."

"Lead the way," Han Fei said blandly.

"Please, this way!" The merchant led Han Fei and his party into his store. Various animal meats, all slaughtered, are displayed in the living room.

However, none of them stopped here and entered an adjacent room.

"The twenty-seventh floor is the breeding layer. Each merchant cultivates different meat food, and differences in nurturing methods significantly impact the taste." The merchant took out a key and opened an iron door, and there were no lights behind it. Two rows of freezers were placed in the passage, containing cut frozen meat.

Seeing that Han Fei didn’t react at all, the merchant felt he had encountered a truly knowledgeable big customer. He dared not neglect and opened another iron door.

This door was specially treated and had excellent soundproofing effects. When it was only opened a third of the way, screams came from the inner room.

"The freshest meat food is inside, but we only open it to regular customers." The merchant kept hinting, "One-time deal becomes familiarity, I remember all the friends I’ve done some business with."

Han Fei took out a money pouch he had picked up on the twenty-sixth floor and tossed it in his hand a few times.

"Please come inside, sir." The merchant did not obstruct anymore. He led Han Fei to see the truest side of this building.

When people’s fairness is destroyed by the private desires of gods, and with the collapse of order, humans can become the least "humane" among all animals.

Each victim from the lower levels was locked into specially built rooms, and "Breeders" would train them according to needed temperaments, crafting the "products" into what they needed, all to make more money.

Hearing those deeply despairing pleas for mercy, Han Fei, Soul of Evil, and Kuangxiao reached a consensus in their reactions for the first time.

Killing intent surged, and Han Fei threw that money pouch toward the merchant.

The other party was both surprised and delighted, sticking closely to Han Fei’s side: "There are still a few more exceptional ones inside, meat food requested by the Manager. Want me to take you to see?"

"No need."

"How can that be? You’ve given so much money, enough to buy an exceptional meat food." The merchant happily hid the money pouch in his bosom.

"Don’t misunderstand. That wasn’t for buying meat food," Han Fei drew out the Rebirth Saber, slashing behind him, "it’s a payment for your life."

The brilliant blade edge effortlessly cut through the merchant’s body. His soul was already rotten and stinking, devoid of any humanity.

"Prepare to rescue people!"

With just the simple phrase about rescuing, it was enough to see the difference between Han Fei and other original inhabitants of the building. In his heart, there’s nothing like meat food; humans are always human.

"Player number 0000, please note! You have discovered a special resident—Yingying."

"Yingying (High-level Meat Food): Difficult to cultivate high-quality meat food. She is isolated in a specially made room deep within the cage, always treated like a princess. Unaware of the happenings of the outside world, she firmly believes everything in the world is beautiful and gentle. She holds a faint trace of divinity."

"Player number 0000, please note! You have discovered a special resident—Yan Nu."

"Yan Nu (High-level Meat Food): Forever unyielding, forever angry, forever passionate, forever stubborn in justice! Once a Crime Chaser, he was turned into meat food by followers of Extreme Authority and Divine Spirit because he refused to degenerate."

Busting open door after door, Han Fei rescued all the meat food, with two individuals particularly catching his attention.

Yingying, possessing a trace of divinity, and Crime Chaser Yan Nu. One, treated as a princess, kind and pure like a flower sketched on white paper; the other, subjected to unimaginable torture, whose body transformed into a monster through repeated treatment and laceration.

Han Fei didn’t have too deep an impression of Yingying, but he had seen Yan Nu in the police archive room.

Like Ji Zheng, Yan Nu wasn’t a police officer. He was an ordinary construction worker who fought to the death against multiple criminals to protect a pregnant woman.

"Crisis-level Crime Chaser Yan Nu?" Ji Zheng also recognized him. Yan Nu refused to cooperate with any evil and did not succumb to darkness. He lived simply and clearly, but because of this character trait, all forces targeted him. He was murdered before accusations could pile up.

Han Fei took various drugs from the Item Bar to help Yan Nu with his treatment. He highly appreciated someone like Yan Nu, for building a new order also required someone like him.

"Did you rescue me?" The burly and robust Yan Nu struggled to get up from the ground. He disliked lying down, seeming as if doing so represented compromising with this sinful land.

"Welcome to the Bai Gang. He is the new Crime Chaser in the building, a remarkable and mad fellow," Ji Zheng took a bottle of alcohol from his pocket, downed a few sips, then handed it to Yan Nu, "You’re lucky, making it until we arrived."

"The new Crime Chaser?" Yan Nu well understood what a Crime Chaser represented, bowing slowly to Han Fei: "I’ve already turned into a monster, but I will help you walk another path."

```
"You should take a good rest." Han Fei took out a Slaughter Saber from the Item Bar. The Ghost Manager had found many Slaughter Sabers in Beast Alley, and Han Fei had brought a few with him: "This saber might be able to help you."
"Thank you." Yan Nu broke free from the chains, moving his body: "What are your plans next?"
"Slaughter the floors, cleanse all evils, save all victims." Han Fei turned towards the outside without saying much, but when he moved, people would involuntarily want to follow. This might be a unique Charm that Han Fei possessed.
Pulling aside the thick curtain, the smell of blood slowly spread in the air. The streets outside were still immersed in the festive joy, with every household bringing out carefully cultivated High-level Meat Food, waiting for Big Shots from the top fifty floors to taste.
The Breeding Layer was extremely harmonious, but only those who knew the insides understood how much filth and ugliness were hidden behind those smiling faces.
"Let’s join in as well." Han Fei touched the Ghost Pattern and summoned Big Evil and Nine-life: "Prepare to feast."
Han Fei was bolder than anyone could imagine. He invoked the Taboo controlled by the Soul of Evil, expanding the Blood Power upwards while leading his "friends" to the most gruesome cleansing.
Those merchants who raised others never expected that one day they would be treated like livestock.
What is right, what is wrong, is no longer important.
Some things, once done, there’s no need for forgiveness anymore.
The festive atmosphere was tinged with blood. Han Fei knew this Meat Food was a carefully prepared gift for the upper layers, but he felt no fear in his heart.
Killing the "Breeders" was just the first step. The real target was those perverts who truly loved Meat Food.
With Big Evil paving the way, Han Fei cleansed from the twenty-seventh floor to the thirtieth.
He rescued dozens of Survivors, among them six Special Residents. These individuals were originally meant to be sent to other floors, placed on the dining table, becoming Meat Food for diners. But Han Fei changed their fate, leading to a naturally high level of friendliness towards him.
The six Special Residents voluntarily joined Han Fei, becoming members of the so-called "Bai Gang."
The Survivors with no combat abilities were settled on the twenty-fifth floor, while the others merged into Han Fei’s team, moving upwards together.
After cleansing several floors, the power of the Taboo began to lag behind. The Director could continuously transform Blood Flesh to enhance himself, but the transformation process required time.
Upon reaching the thirtieth floor, they encountered unprecedented resistance: the fallen Night Watchman, the well-funded Gambling Houses, and several Big Shots from the top fifty floors who originally came to the Breeding Layer to purchase Meat Food but unexpectedly ran into Han Fei.
The confrontation was without much talk and directly unfolded into an exceedingly bloody clash.
Because of Big Evil, a nearly indestructible special existence, Han Fei and his team eradicated the resisting forces, though the information about "Bai Gang" got exposed.
Ironically, in the eyes of those Big Shots, Han Fei and his team became rule-breaking bandits, seen as vicious criminals.
"The power of the Taboo can’t temporarily affect higher floors. It’s best for us to retreat to the twenty-fifth floor, consolidate our gains, or start preparing to expand downwards." Ji Zheng wiped the blood off his face, never expecting to participate in such an action, having been numbed to everything.
"There should still be other Brain Fragments of number two within the building. You all come with me into the corridor, I want to release all the Taboos inside the building." Han Fei wasn’t a man with grand ambitions, but what he’s doing is more insane than any ambitious person within the building.
Hearing his words, even the most impulsive and hot-blooded Yan Nu calmed down and reminded: "The corridors are occupied by Taboos, are you sure you want to go through them? The higher you go, the more dangerous the corridors become, and there are more than just one Taboo hiding in there."
"It’s guiding me, and I trust its judgment. This guy is smarter than all of us combined." Han Fei took out the Blood-colored Amber, feeling it intently.
There exists a connection between number two’s Brain Fragments, only Han Fei and Kuangxiao could perceive this connection.
"There are Fragments existing in the corridors, and the fiftieth floor also hides one. To leave the bottom fifty floors, one must undergo the test of the Taboos. The Pseudo-god might want to use this way to screen those who can help him control the Taboos."
While concentrating on sensing the locations of other Brain Fragments, Han Fei suddenly felt a jolt in his heart, a very subtle aura stirred his Soul, conveying information whose meaning was unclear.
Upon careful sensing, Han Fei realized it came from the Ghost Gate Blood Shadow.
"What trouble did it encounter?"
The Blood Shadow’s power was stronger than Large-scaled Grudge, and Han Fei felt that Hatred might not easily kill it, yet it was now summoning Han Fei through the weak connection between Soul Summoner and Soul.
"The Blood Shadow is getting closer to me, that guy is heading my way!"
Blood Shadow must’ve gone to a much higher floor before, causing havoc without scruples and being hunted down by the forces inside the building was natural.
"To severely injure the Blood Shadow from beyond the Ghost Gate, perhaps Hatred made a move." If it were before, Han Fei would have tried to escape, but it’s different now.
In the twenty-five to twenty-nine floors covered in Blood Flesh, Han Fei, with the Director’s power, had the ability to fight against Hatred.
Though Hatred is tough to kill entirely for others, Han Fei just happens to possess the one thing every Evil Soul fears most—the Rebirth Saber.
"Taboo comparable to Hatred, tough-skinned Big Evil, hidden abilities of many Special Residents, paired with the killing effect of Rebirth Slaughter Saber..." Han Fei opened the Attribute Panel, looking at the shining exit button, his eyes firm: "Worth a try."
If he successfully kills a Hatred, the Black Fire it leaves might help Little Eight breakthrough, or at least could be handed to that mysterious Paradise Ghost Manager, who, as Fu Sheng’s initial choice Manager, still hides many things.
Having made up his mind, Han Fei immediately called up others to go downstairs, preparing to set up a killing trap.
As time ticked away, Han Fei, hiding in the twenty-fifth to twenty-ninth floors, sensed the Blood Shadow was already very close to him.
With the ground above smashed through, the Blood Shadow, resembling Han Fei, fell through the blood-colored hole. Its body was no longer purely blood-red, now mixed with an abundance of black impurities—bare, pure malice.
As the Blood Shadow approached Han Fei, all surrounding light twisted. A masked man crouched upstairs, watching the Blood Shadow and Han Fei.
"Player number 0000, please take note! The Night Watchman possessing both Spade K and Heart K Ghost Cards has appeared! He might know the true identities of Big Ghost and Little Ghost!"
