My ‘Healing’ Game -
Chapter 797: Number Two
Chapter 797: Chapter 797: Number Two
Eternal Life Pharmaceutical offered pro bono treatments for children suffering from severe psychological disorders, which was widely reported by the media at the time, without suspecting any ulterior motives.
The trafficked children, both physically and mentally devastated, had been treated as mere tools from a young age, and they happened to meet the requirements of some experiments by Eternal Life Pharmaceutical.
Under the guise of treatment, they experimented with various "treatment plans" on these children.
Some children were completely cured of their physical injuries, but their psyches became even more distorted. One of the victims is a card from the Ghost Card Case.
Under extreme pressure, the victims turned into even more brutal perpetrators.
This highly confidential information had only been deduced by the police in recent years as technology advanced, but unfortunately, too much time had passed and gathering evidence was very difficult.
"If I could catch her alive, I might be able to extract some information," he muttered.
Han Fei slowly activated the Fog within his soul, enveloping himself in the Shrine Mist before using Art Appreciation on Aunt Qing.
The trafficker, at first glance, seemed full of flaws, but a closer inspection would reveal that most of these flaws were traps. Aunt Qing’s clothes were stuffed with the tender skin of many children, bearing their names.
It appeared she was imitating the crimes inscribed on the body of a Crime Chaser, embedding the children’s names into her skin to link their lives to hers; if she died, others would have to be buried with her.
While Han Fei was still searching for a loophole, Big Evil had already killed one of Aunt Qing’s foolish sons.
Others’ children were hacked limb from limb, blinded, enduring torture day and night, and Aunt Qing felt not a twinge of guilt, yet when her own foolish son was killed, she instantly went mad.
She pointed at Big Evil and cursed vociferously, while also uttering various threats.
Soon the names on her body began to fade, and more innocent children emerged from the walls. Their deformed bodies could merge completely with the walls and floor, as if their flesh and blood were part of the building itself.
"Aunt Qing buried the children she kidnapped. Being able to walk underground might correspond to their method of death," Han Fei initially overlooked this detail, but soon he thought of something else.
On the outskirts of the Black Rain Area, while Han Fei admired an elderly dance through a club’s mirror, he saw a shrine completely comprised of bodies.
That shrine was immensely tall, just like this skyscraper!
"Perhaps this skyscraper really is the Shrine itself."
The names on Aunt Qing’s skin slowly decreased, revealing her true vulnerability.
The wicked old woman always clutched a bell, once worn around the neck of a large dog.
At first, Han Fei thought the bell was tightly held in Aunt Qing’s palm, but after using Art Appreciation, he discovered it was actually growing into her flesh, with blood vessels connecting to the end of the bell as part of her body.
"She must have used this to train those children before."
Han Fei moved in stealthily, his body shrouded in Fog, completely hidden in the darkness.
In the corridor, Big Evil relentlessly pushed forward, overpowering every Ghost Child, as Aunt Qing felt an unprecedented pressure. Her rhythm with the bell faltered, seemingly contemplating retreat.
"Thinking of running?"
Moving alongside Big Evil, Han Fei timed his approach, anticipating Aunt Qing’s attempt to evade.
The Rebirth Slaughter Saber emitted a light so bright it could scorch the eyes, and the humanity that formed the blade’s edge was enraged by Aunt Qing’s actions; they had never fought so fiercely before.
Aunt Qing was wary of Big Evil and completely unaware of Han Fei’s proximity until it was too late to react.
With only a drop of blood left, Han Fei, leveraging his abilities, seized the opportunity for a single strike, almost merging with the Rebirth to transform from the darkest shadow into the most brilliant light.
"Die!"
His voice carried deep Hatred as the Slaughter Saber smashed Aunt Qing’s bell before continuing upwards along her arm!
The altered lives of the kidnapped children and the tortures they were made to endure sparked Han Fei’s empathy.
He roared loudly, using the Rebirth Saber to cleave Aunt Qing in two!
The two foolish sons who had impeded Big Evil, along with the crawling malformed children, stopped their attacks on Big Evil as soon as the bell was destroyed, lingering listlessly in place.
"So your own foolish sons were also controlled by that bell, how tragic. Your own flesh and blood lack their own thoughts and consciousness."
Han Fei was about to speak further when, unobstructed and unable to stop in time, Big Evil rushed forward, inadvertently crushing Aunt Qing’s corpse.
It was like a watermelon run over by a truck, dark blood splattered over the children’s skin, washing away the pitch-black names.
Big Evil brushed its feet, puzzled about what it had just stepped on.
Aunt Qing’s two foolish sons, ignorant of what love and kinship meant, squatted by her shattered corpse, playing with it as if it were mud, all the while chuckling foolishly.
"Don’t just stand there, you’ve been freed," Han Fei crushed the bell with his Slaughter Saber, and those out-of-control children’s eyes gradually turned blood-red, filling their souls with Hate and pain. They surged towards Aunt Qing’s corpse, unleashing all their pent-up Grudge Energy on the two foolish sons.
In less than a minute, Aunt Qing and her three children were all soul scattered, with not a single piece of intact skin remaining on the ground.
Han Fei rummaged through the pile of corpses for a long while before he finally found an ordinary-looking playing card.
"Player 0000, please note! You have discovered the Ghost Card — Ace of Diamonds. You have successfully completed the first phase of the Ghost Card Case; next, you need to find any one of the four Kings, as only they know the identities of the Big Ghost and the Little Ghost."
The first phase of the D-level task had been completed. Han Fei flipped the Ghost Card, which bore the malicious face of Aunt Qing on its front, as if a piece of her soul had been nailed into the card.
Tucking the Ghost Card away, Han Fei looked beside him. Big Evil had accrued a new sin, and the ability this sin provided seemed related to mass control.
After Aunt Qing’s death, the abducted deformed ghost children did not scatter and escape; instead, they gathered around Han Fei and Big Evil, seemingly prepared to "acknowledge the thief as father."
"With Big Evil’s new sinful ability, coupled with my title as Child King, if we were to open a kindergarten in the future, the business would likely do well," Han Fei joked.
Han Fei chose not to continue enslaving those children. He gave them a freedom and care they had never dared to dream of and even took out toys from the Shallow World for them.
It was only when the lights came back on that the children disappeared without a trace, having merged into the building itself.
"This place is actually quite nice," Li Rou, who had gained new Sin Blood, said as the grotesque scars on her body transformed into bright blood patterns, making her look increasingly younger and more beautiful.
"You think it’s nice because you met me," Han Fei noted Li Rou’s increased friendliness and was quite pleased. "There are some people in this world, when you meet them, it feels like even the sky becomes brighter."
"Yes." Li Rou gently touched Big Evil. "Thank you, big guy."
Retreating back to their room and waiting for the lights to go out again, the children, now merged with the bloody walls, reappeared. They chattered around Han Fei and Big Evil, seemingly wanting to take them somewhere.
Han Fei gradually discovered the pattern of this floor: each time the lights went out, one or two hunters would randomly appear.
The fewer the number of hunters, the greater the danger. After five consecutive rounds like this, under the guidance of the deformed ghost children, Han Fei found the first door marked with the word "fate."
The whole door was splattered with black blood stains that couldn’t be washed off, and the word "fate" looked like the mark of some dreadful being.
Pushing the door open, the setup inside made Han Fei break out in a cold sweat; it turned out to be the layout of a room from the Blood-colored Orphanage.
Although Han Fei had never entered the depths of the Blood-colored Orphanage in his brain sea, he had seen it from the outside many times and remembered the general appearance of some rooms.
"Why would this happen?" The Garden Owner and Fu Sheng were contemporaries. While the brothers Fu Sheng and Fu Tian sought to create the perfect human being, the Garden Owner seemed to be imitating them, attempting to create the most imperfect monster.
"With the Garden Owner’s despicable personality, he definitely wouldn’t want perfection to be born; maybe he’s actually been pushing behind the scenes, making the Blood-colored Night at the Orphanage even worse,"
If that were indeed the case, both Han Fei and Kuangxiao would owe a part of their current state to the Garden Owner’s "contributions."
Fu Sheng and Fu Tian had already passed away, and the boundless Grudge Energy accumulated deep within Han Fei’s mind seemed to have found an outlet for release.
Walking around the room and pausing occasionally, Han Fei touched the items that, though he was seeing them for the first time, felt incredibly familiar, stirring a unique emotion within him as if he had always belonged here.
Sitting on the bed, Han Fei caressed the somewhat rough mattress. Without any further movement, a sharp pain erupted from the depths of his brain, and Kuangxiao seemed on the verge of breaking free, attempting to emerge from Han Fei’s mind.
"Why not let him out?"
The small bed could not accommodate an adult, but it was capable of supporting all his painful past.
Just as Han Fei was about to release Kuangxiao, the closed life gate was pushed open again, and Ji Zheng, wounded all over, fell to the ground holding the Disaster Ghost child, with Mr. Mo closely following, immediately closing the door upon entering.
"You two don’t seem to have encountered any frightening people?" Ji Zheng looked toward the unharmed Han Fei and Li Rou, spat blood to the side, then flicked a playing card from his sleeve: "Keep this card well; legend has it that collecting a full set might grant you a chance to meet the Divine Spirit."
"I don’t believe in him, why would I want to see him?" Han Fei picked up the Ghost Card and glanced at it, it was the Ace of Clubs.
"After seeing him, spit at him. If you can’t beat him, at least disgust him," Ji Zheng took a while to get up from the ground: "Finding the life gate can make things easier, but once we leave, we must keep searching for new life gates."
"Are there many life gates on the 25th floor?"
"Yes, you must have noticed that the rooms behind these life gates are completely differently arranged from other rooms?" Ji Zheng picked up a glass of water from the table and drank it straight down: "The main body of the skyscraper is the Divine Spirit’s flesh and blood, but the rooms behind these life gates are nails, embedded into the Divine Spirit’s body by taboos using their own power."
He walked mysteriously toward Han Fei, "The taboo on the 25th floor is an unspeakable memory, which the Divine Spirit has imprisoned within itself, attempting to slowly decipher its secrets. But while it sleeps, that memory has transformed into a monster that seeks to rival the gods!"
"Where did the Divine Spirit acquire that memory from?"
"Don’t know; I once heard an aged Night Watchman say, a Pseudo-god stole another Divine Spirit’s brain, which was the smartest brain existing in the world. He divided that brain into different parts and hid them on different floors, trying by all means to take over the other’s memories and abilities," Ji Zheng also sat down on the orphanage bed, unaware of the slight changes in Han Fei’s expression as he spoke.
"What else do you know about that brain?" Han Fei recalled a part of the memory left by Kuangxiao. There had once been a child in the Blood-colored Orphanage who possessed an extremely clever brain, but after continuous experiments, only the brain remained of the child.
"I know nothing at all; I only know that the followers call that brain ’Number Two.’ It is the most terrifying taboo in the building, and also an ongoing creation of the Divine Spirit," Ji Zheng realized something was off only when he turned his head and saw Han Fei’s eyes filled with Blood Silk, a drastic change from before: "What’s wrong with you?"
A towering blood wave surged in his Brain Sea; just the identifier ’Two’ was enough to make Kuangxiao a bit uncontrollable.
