My ‘Healing’ Game -
Chapter 773 Method of Healing the Villain
Chapter 773: Chapter 773 Method of Healing the Villain
Many things have not yet occurred in real time, but there are already many signs that would later be described by others as coincidences of fate.Han Fei flipped through the script of "Twin Flowers" again; in the play, he portrayed both of the brothers—playing dual roles—as both the valiant pursuer of justice and the villain who brought disaster.
"In the movies, good always triumphs over evil, but in reality, only those who survive in the end are deemed righteous."
Quietly closing the script, Han Fei tossed it into the drawer of his computer desk, "Brother against brother won’t repeat itself with me; I’m going to rewrite that ending."
Han Fei entered the kitchen and made himself a meal, soon the room was filled with the aroma of meat.
As he ate, he scrolled through his phone; several major events had taken place online in just a short day.
Last night in the Smart District, a large number of workers who had been laid off conducted a sit-in protest in front of Deep Space Technology. The reason was that the newly developed seventh-generation robots by Deep Space Technology had completely replaced their jobs, and the efficiency-driven factory cleared out all the lower-level workers.
The situation wasn’t that big of a deal to begin with, but among the sitting crowd, a madman who came from the distant suburbs started an attack on a senior employee of Deep Space Technology as dusk fell.
Still the night before, the monopoly investigation against Deep Space Technology and Eternal Life Pharmaceutical officially began, with multiple parties forcing Deep Space Technology to hand over various data on the Smart Brain.
The issue of bugs in the "Perfect Life" game has not been perfectly resolved to this day, and the number of Black Box Hunters in the game has doubled several times. However, the vast majority of players still treat it as just a casual game.
Han Fei’s gaze suddenly froze on a piece of news after scrolling through one piece of information after another, double-checking several times to make sure he was seeing it right.
"Mysterious kidnapping case shocks Smart New City! Unemployed financial analyst tries to save boss, joins forces with a Class-A wanted criminal in Smart New City!"
With an unexplained sense of foreboding, Han Fei clicked on the report, which also included a pixelated photo of Shen Luo’s face.
"What’s the situation with this guy?"
The report said Shen Luo’s boss was under restriction in Smart New City for illegal fundraising; Shen Luo wanted to hire a lawyer to get a reduced sentence for his boss, but unbeknownst to him, the lawyer was actually a Class-A wanted criminal in disguise.
The current situation was that both Shen Luo and the lawyer had disappeared, and Shen Luo’s boss could potentially face new charges such as illegal emigration, aiding and abetting murder, and fabrication of evidence.
"The freaks from Sunday Night School are getting bolder."
Xinhu was already seething with tensions under the surface, and now, the confrontation had escalated into the open.
According to what the Florist had said, the Unspeakable originating from the Xinhu Old City District, coupled with the fact that the mirrors in the Murder Club are connected to the Deep World, gave me every reason to suspect that all three major criminal organizations in the suburbs were created by the Unspeakable," said Han Fei.
In the Deep World, Han Fei had made significant strides: "As the Butterfly embodies the highest level of hatred, it makes sense for the police to label it as a supervillain. The Unspeakable also has the means to enter and exit the Deep World at will, so it’s very likely that his real-world identity is also that of a supervillain."
The Butterfly never kills directly, only using illusions to drive victims to suicide, but the Unspeakable from the Black Rain Area had no such reservations, with blood debts on both hands, it seems he had been addicted to killing since a very early time.
"The Florist said that a police officer who once pursued the Butterfly accidentally entered the ’Garden’ and saw the Unspeakable. I need to find and talk to that officer," said Han Fei.
With Han Fei’s current strength, even if he teamed up with all his neighbors, they would not be a match for the Unspeakable. If he wanted to confront him, he would need to act in both the real world and the Deep World, leveraging the full extent of police power.
At eight o’clock in the morning, after washing up, Han Fei called Li Xue: "Li Xue, I need to ask you a few things."
"Has someone disappeared again? Who do you want me to help you investigate?" Li Xue was no longer surprised; she had previously been helping Han Fei in secret, but ever since the police discovered that all the people Han Fei was looking into had significant issues, Li Xue’s superiors stopped asking questions, turning a blind eye during reviews.
"I saw in the news that Shen Luo is missing? That guy is involved with the criminal organizations in the suburbs; you’d better find him quickly."
"Don’t worry, we’re more anxious than you, Captain Li has already gone to search overnight," said Li Xue, her voice tinged with weariness. "Anything else?"
"Most people commit crimes for some purpose, such as emotional issues, conflicts of interest, or financial transactions, but those three criminal organizations in the suburbs, they just kill for the sake of killing— a pure form of evil. To eradicate them completely, we must destroy the breeding ground for sin," Han Fei said.
"What are you trying to say?"
"The real mastermind behind those three criminal organizations has turned Xinhu into his own garden, seeing every evil soul as a poisonous flower. Eradicating this person is the only way to solve all problems," Han Fei shared his intel with Li Xue.
"We’re also looking for their ’brains,’ but tell me, how do you know so much about those three criminal organizations? Xinhu is likely to be in chaos soon; you better not go running around," Li Xue immediately knew Han Fei must have been conducting his own investigation again. "This case is very dangerous, unlike any before!"
"It’s precisely because it’s dangerous, and many innocents might get involved, that I must do my part to put an end to all of this," Han Fei returned to the matter at hand, "Butterflies flutter in the garden, and someone from your police force once accidentally saw the Garden Owner while investigating the Butterfly. I need you to help me find that officer."
"Someone from the police force has seen the hidden mastermind behind the three criminal organizations?" Li Xue’s voice was full of doubt, "Impossible, the ones who investigated the Butterfly case were elite detectives, and if they had discovered anything unusual, they would definitely have reported it to their superiors—they wouldn’t hide such important information."
"I’m not sure exactly what happened, but I’ve told you everything I know. You need to find that officer as soon as possible."
"Alright, got it."
Hanging up the phone, Han Fei prepared to visit Jin Jun’s place—the vulture from the Murder Club still hadn’t been dealt with.
After giving Jin Jun a heads-up, Han Fei bought two breakfasts to take over.
In the past, it had been the paparazzi who meticulously camped outside celebrities’ houses, but with Han Fei, it was the complete opposite. He avoided many gazes and snuck into Jin Jun’s home.
"That psychopathic killer hasn’t caused you any trouble, has he?" Han Fei began with what sounded like a normal greeting but upon closer thought, seemed somehow not quite right.
"He’s still in the Game Box; I didn’t dare let him out," Jin Jun stood in the living room clutching a kitchen knife. He too had experienced training in the Happiness Residential Community under Han Fei and was far braver than most.
"Good job," Han Fei personally opened the Game Box and dragged the vulture out.
Already miserable with broken hand bones, the vulture had been subjected to continuous torment in the Deep World by three Shrines and to make matters worse, his memory of these events had been tampered with. He only remembered that under no circumstances should he go against Han Fei’s wishes.
The dual torment of body and mind pushed the vulture to his limit. Lying on the ground, he uttered a code only Han Fei could understand.
"Stop yelling, I know you want to start afresh, but those innocents you killed won’t give you that chance," Han Fei crouched in front of the vulture, "If you want to ease your pain, follow the guidance in your memories."
"The Crow will never trust anyone; it would be very difficult to bring him to you."
"If it were simple, would I need you to do it?" Han Fei tossed a breakfast in front of the vulture, "Eat up and then leave. I intentionally left you with a pair of intact legs last night."
Jin Jun witnessed everything and was a bit curious, "Han Fei, is that Crow also a wanted fugitive? What do you want with him?"
"The Crow is just the beginning. I will treat all these severely sick people my own way," Han Fei wasn’t just talking; he was truly prepared to do so.
The vulture used to be a murderer and arsonist with a twisted mind. Now, educated by Han Fei, he might seem even sicker, but at least he had learned fear.
"It’s all to find the Garden Owner and then kill him."
After letting the remodeled vulture go, Han Fei chatted with Jin Jun for a while. He needed trustworthy people to help him with the "psychopathic killer" reformation project.
Jin Jun had also spent time in the Deep World and knew the world wasn’t as simple as it seemed on the surface. He cooperated in setting up a "healing room," specifically to serve "patients."
After dealing with matters there, Han Fei received a call from Li Xue. He pressed the answer button, but the voice that came through the speaker was that of Teacher Li Xue.
"I hear you’re looking for the officer who has seen the Garden Owner?" The old voice was somewhat hoarse; his body deteriorated day by day.
"Li Xue told you?" Han Fei didn’t deny it. If he could get Teacher Li Xue’s help, everything would be much smoother.
"Yes," the old man was silent for a long time, "The officer who has seen the Garden Owner is me."
"You?!" Han Fei signaled Jin Jun to stay quiet. He took the phone into an inner room, then closed the door, "Can you tell me how you met? What does the Garden Owner look like?"
"My memory of that day seems like it’s been artificially erased, no matter how I try to recall it, I’m missing a day from my life," the old man’s voice remained calm, but Han Fei could sense the deeply suppressed rage, "I’ve spent ten years trying to remember, and with the help of experts and doctors, I’ve tried countless times. Finally, I vaguely remembered three sentences from my ’Brain Sea.’"
"The first sentence: ’You are my third work, and I intend to make the most righteous seed in this city bloom into the most poisonous and ugly flower.’"
"The second sentence: ’Did all thirty children from the Orphanage die? No one noticed anything unusual, right?’"
"The third sentence: ’Butterfly, help me enter the Dream.’"
