Chapter 759: Chapter 759: Offline Gathering

The Death Group Chat Administrator spoke in a relaxed tone about something extremely terrifying.

Han Fei had played the ’spot the difference’ game before, but the pictures provided by the administrator depicted a person being tortured, and the changes or differences were all inflicted upon his body, which was utterly horrifying.

For regular people, one extra look at this photo would cause nightmares, yet the administrator generously gave Han Fei one minute to spot the differences.

To the administrator’s surprise, it only took Han Fei ten seconds to accurately point out twenty-five differences in the picture.

This surprised the administrators. They had a complete internal evaluation system where the number of seconds taken to find differences could assess the level of one’s inner perversion.

Finding ten differences within a minute was already considered psychologically twisted, while finding fifteen was the mark of an extremely distorted villain, and someone who could find all twenty-five differences within a minute was absolutely the epitome of pure evil madness.

"Ten seconds? Twenty-five differences?" The administrator became a bit nervous, knowing he was facing a monster far beyond the comprehension of the average person.

"Is there an issue?" Han Fei, accustomed to these sights in the Deep World, was unperturbed, "Or did I miss something? I looked over it five more seconds to make sure there were no other discrepancies before answering."

"You checked for another five seconds?" The administrator was afraid to ask more and began treating Han Fei with much more respect, "You scored full marks for the first game. There are a few more minigames you could try."

A simple game of ’spot the difference’ wasn’t enough to prove anything, so the administrator decided to test Han Fei with other games, sending him puzzles, Hide-and-Seek, and matching games.

The administrator didn’t know that the first case Han Fei had encountered was the Human-body Puzzle, nor did he know that Han Fei possessed the Hidden Talent for Hide-and-Seek; as for the last matching game, Han Fei used his Art Appreciation, sourced from the Underworld, to successfully link together a highly conceptual horror artwork that combined the gruesome with the aesthetic.

After a few simple tests, the Death Group Chat Administrator was thoroughly impressed by Han Fei, feeling an urge to admire someone for the first time in his professional field.

"Are there any more minigames?" Han Fei, who was accustomed to playing ’Perfect Life,’ felt that such minigames could help diversify his life a bit.

"No more, no more." The administrator sent Han Fei a cutesy emoticon, presumably having realized Han Fei’s position in the food chain, "We have a small offline gathering tomorrow night. Many group owners and administrators will be there. Would you like to come?"

"Aren’t you afraid I’ll kill you all if I show up?" Sunshine Boy Han Fei revealed a trace of cruelty on his face.

"Haha, I like your sense of humor. If you have the ability, go ahead and try," the administrator invited Han Fei into another group chat, a new group with only twenty individuals, all of whom were administrators and owners of other chats, "At this offline gathering, we will welcome a new member, known as Sunshine Boy."

While others greeted Han Fei, he began using every means to frantically scroll through the information of other group members – these folks were indeed the core members of the Death Group Chat.

While multitasking, Han Fei indeed unearthed some useful information.

Everyone in the group used codenames, and the owner of this smaller group was called "Guinea Pig," a name Han Fei remembered Bu Kaixin mentioning in connection with Mr. Xia, who always wore a Guinea Pig mask.

Beyond the owner, another administrator codenamed God of Death also caught Han Fei’s attention; this individual had an interest in singing and art and approached murder with a sense of ritual.

"I’ve seen a woman wearing the God of Death mask at the Murder Club. Based on the clues I provided, the police preliminarily identified three suspects, one of which was a washed-up singer."

These twisted individuals were accustomed to living behind masks, and they were all quite skilled actors, but compared to Han Fei, the maestro, they were far from his level.

Through analysis of speech patterns and behavioral habits, Han Fei was finding more and more evidence. He aimed to lock down everyone’s identity.

After the introductions, the original administrator shared a picture with the group, "This image will self-destruct in one minute. The time and place of the meeting are on it. Don’t be late."

The picture showed a young girl with her face covered, her body submerged in dark seawater, with an injured dolphin struggling to support her from below.

Around the girl stood five people: a heavily made-up madam, a refined white-collar worker, a tattooed enforcer, a greasy sloppy bully, and a caring mature foster father.

"Who threw her into Dolphin Bay?"

At the bottom of the picture was a sentence, with no other hints provided.

"Dolphin Bay?" Outside the information cocoon, Han Fei searched for this location. It used to be a fishing village but was bought by a mysterious buyer.

Witnesses claimed that at night, they saw a big fish swimming in Dolphin Bay and heard captivating singing, as though dolphins were calling out.

The location was confirmed, and next came the time.

Han Fei compared the body features of several people in the pictures, and soon found a vicious assault case from a few weeks ago.

A young girl living in the distant suburbs mysteriously disappeared, and five individuals had entered her room that day, each at different times.

"Does this little gathering even have a threshold? Is it that you can’t participate if you’re not twisted enough?"

After viewing the pictures, the group members left the chat one after another, and the administrator reminded Han Fei not to be late, adding that everyone had high hopes for him.

Actually, Han Fei’s purpose for joining the group was simple: if he couldn’t catch the core members, he would become a core member himself, and obtain their secrets personally.

Leaving the grey zone behind, Han Fei cleared his browsing history and took out his phone to call Li Xue.

Seconds later, the call was answered and Li Xue’s familiar voice came through, "Big brother, don’t you need sleep? What time is it now?"

"Sorry, I’ve been really focused lately, got a bit of a nocturnal schedule," Han Fei told Li Xue about the Dolphin Bay girl case, and she immediately gave him the answer.

"The little thug turned himself in, but after our thorough investigation, we found that things were not that simple. Each person who entered the room had a motive. The madam suspected the girl had deliberately seduced her boss and wanted her dead. The thug had severe violent tendencies, and that white-collar worker had mental issues, being extremely radical. But the criminal we eventually arrested was the foster father, who had no criminal record and was actually a decent man. His final motive for wanting to kill the girl was—believing that death was a form of salvation for her, so he prepared to kill her."

"What time did the foster father enter the girl’s room?"

"Three fifty in the morning; he was the last one to enter," the police had investigated thoroughly, but the case had not been made public. If Han Fei went to the gathering based on the police’s conjecture, he might be mistaken by those deviants as an officer, and this could also be a test for him.

"Got it," after thanking Li Xue, he asked her to do him a favor—hoping the police could help find Bu Kaixin’s mother.

Upon getting the relevant information about Bu Kaixin’s mother, Li Xue hung up, saying she would get back to Han Fei by tomorrow afternoon at the latest.

Han Fei was now using his hobbies to challenge others’ professions, and the most crucial thing was he was spending more time on cases every day than the "professional players."

It was already getting light, but Han Fei wasn’t sleepy at all. He ate something casually and started to review information on Ye Xian, the washed-up second-tier singer.

Han Fei had clashed with the God of Death woman in the Murder Club; she was the only one to date who could exchange knife blows with him in reality.

"Ye Xian, parents divorced, mother an opera singer, father one of the shareholders of Eternal Life Pharmaceutical, grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth, famously rich and beautiful in Xinhu, currently planning to join the singing competition co-hosted by Deep Space Technology and Eternal Life Pharmaceutical..."

Han Fei was marginally from both the entertainment and death penalty circles, and wasn’t too familiar with singing. Only after a quick search did he realize how prestigious the singing competition Ye Xian was entering was.

Perfect Life’s new user guide and interlude songs were about to be changed. With Deep Space Technology and Eternal Life Pharmaceutical, along with many top musicians, they were all set to search for the Mortal World’s most beautiful voice.

With the advancement of the era, high technology could make anyone a singing god, but singing at its core was a way for humans to express emotions. This time, they were looking for voices without the aid of any technological device, capturing the original beauty of singing.

Regardless of status or past achievements, everything was to be judged solely on the voice.

The winner would not only voice a key NPC in Perfect Life but would also be the main singer of Perfect Life’s promotional song and receive the support of Deep Space Entertainment’s resources.

The scale of the singing competition was tremendous, open for national participation, and many professional singers were eager to join.

"Everyone participates using virtual identities, without knowing each other’s real identity. With Ye Xian’s capabilities, she’s bound to make it to the end; she’s already a hot favorite for the Xinhu championship. I can use this as a way to make contact with her, to see if the God of Death woman is really her."

After pondering for a moment, Han Fei dialed Liuli Cat’s number, and the little cat saved by Devil became very excited upon hearing Han Fei would join the singing competition. She guided Han Fei through the registration and even brought him into a group she had formed.

"You’ve become a lot more lively lately," Han Fei noticed a change in Liuli Cat and felt heartened by it; he put his life on the line so that more people who had once fallen into despair could smile, wasn’t it?

After a brief discussion, the Devil and Cat group formed, and Han Fei, carrying his information, took a taxi to Liuli Cat’s residence.

He was quite busy, so he left the initial auditions to Liuli Cat. He planned to find a way to meet Ye Xian when it got to the finals.
