My ‘Healing’ Game
Chapter 747: Welcome Ceremony

Chapter 747: Chapter 747: Welcome Ceremony

"Don’t be nervous, and don’t misunderstand us, the Sunday Night School is just a place for everyone to learn and exchange ideas," Doctor Bai stepped down from the lectern and stood in the center of the classroom. "Most people in this city encounter various problems every day. Some problems can be easily resolved, but for some, no answers can be found. That’s why we have this place, where everyone can discuss, share their experiences, and combine their wisdom to solve problems."

In Doctor Bai’s words, the Sunday Night School was a place of unity and friendship that fostered mutual progress.

"I actually think so, too," Shen Luo dared not argue now, agreeing quickly to whatever the other said. In this remote and desolate area, not even a car could be found; there was no chance to escape.

"Thank you for your approval, let’s continue with the class for now, and after today’s session, we will hold a welcome ceremony for you." After Doctor Bai uttered the words "welcome ceremony," all the "classmates" flashed meaningful smiles, their eyes filled with excitement and anticipation.

"There’s really no need for such trouble," stammered Shen Luo, trying to decline, but Doctor Bai and the classmates completely ignored him and resumed discussing some very technical knowledge.

Aside from discussing mental states, these adult students also had real skills. They were very good at analyzing people’s psychological problems, but unsettlingly, they were not discussing how to help others heal psychological pain. Instead, they excitedly discussed how to exploit these psychological vulnerabilities to further distort the patients.

Shen Luo sat in the last row of the classroom, on pins and needles, growing more and more frightened as he listened, feeling dizzy, with illusions flashing in front of his eyes from time to time.

For him, the only good news was that when he stayed in the same room as this group of psychopaths, the butterflies in his Brain Sea seemed to calm down a lot and stopped fluttering.

"Are these psychopaths in cahoots with the butterflies? Did it sense its own kind, so it stopped struggling?" Shen Luo grimaced, truly at a loss about why he was so unlucky to turn a healing game into a survival horror game, and now, he had actually turned reality into a horror game, too.

The hours dragged on agonizingly until just after two in the morning, when Doctor Bai finally finished all the lessons.

"Discussing with everyone each week is my happiest thing. Alright, this week’s course is over," Doctor Bai, still not quite ready to leave, stood at the lectern, patiently erased all the patterns on the board, and burned the "teaching materials," leaving no trace behind.

"Teacher Bai, you haven’t assigned next week’s homework yet," said a young man who stood up from the front row.

"There’s more homework?" Shen Luo, who was planning on finding a chance to slip away, turned back and looked at the other: "Why is there always this kind of idiot no matter what class it is?"

"Next week’s homework is very simple; I need each of you to try to hypnotize a person, using the methods I’ve taught you, to undertake psychological control and mental imprisonment, to test the psychological tolerance range of an ordinary person," Doctor Bai said as he destroyed the last piece of "teaching material," patting the dust off his hands. "Alright, now, let’s begin the initiation ceremony."

Without needing further prompting from Doctor Bai, the classmates had already eagerly gathered around Shen Luo. The class really had a strong learning atmosphere; not a single person wanted to leave even after classes ended.

"Don’t overthink it; it’s just a simple welcome ceremony," Doctor Bai placed a white medicine bottle on Shen Luo’s desk. "If you feel your heart isn’t very good, or if you’re feeling a bit uncomfortable, you can take some of this; it’s very effective. Everyone who has used it has had nothing but good things to say."

"Let’s go, Little Shen, we will accompany you."

"Welcome to the new student joining us!"

"Don’t be shy. I was the same when I first got here, but gradually I realized everyone is the same. Trust me, you’ll like it here."

"I’ll get the car; you guys bring the tools." The couple from the downstairs barbecue stand were the first to leave, and not long after, a horn blared from below.

"Let’s go." A crowd surrounded Shen Luo and Doctor Bai as they headed to the back door of the building.

The barbecue shop owner had already parked the car and had changed into dark clothes, which wouldn’t show blood splatters clearly.

"Really, it’s not necessary..."

Shen Luo was about to say something more, but it was too late, as two burly male students pushed him into the car.

It was now the second half of the night, and the streets of North Suburb were deserted, the buildings on either side seemed long abandoned, without even a light visible.

"Those big companies control the media, spinning a cocoon of splendid information for the public, recklessly indoctrinating concepts that suit their interests, causing masses who once lived here to move to crowded city districts. The outskirts have gradually become deserted, especially in recent years after the older generation passed away, hardly anyone is seen here now." Doctor Bai looked out at the pitch-black streets through the car window, then suddenly turned to Shen Luo and asked, "Who is really to blame for this area being engulfed in darkness?"

"I don’t know." Shen Luo dared not ponder Doctor Bai’s words too deeply; all he wanted was to call the police, yet he feared angering the psychopaths, being killed and having his body disposed of without a trace.

"The core city district is immensely developed, filled with traces of technological modification, while the outskirts have been left to animals and plants, slowly becoming masters of this place..." Doctor Bai was about to say something when a modified car blaring music suddenly turned the corner.

The driver seemed to be drunk, breaking the law not only by driving while intoxicated but also by speeding.

If it weren’t for the quick reaction of the barbecue shop owner, they would have almost crashed.

"Can’t you drive! Shit!" With the annoying music blaring loudly, the barbecue shop owner hadn’t even responded when the modified car’s driver rolled down his window and cursed at them.

His companion in the passenger seat also gave Shen Luo and the others the international "friendly" gesture.

Faced with the provocation of the two young men, no one in Shen Luo’s car cursed back; they just stared at them.

The driver, possibly thinking the shop owner was backing down, cursed and spat in the direction of the barbecue shop’s car, then swaggered back to his own modified vehicle.

"A welcoming gift has appeared." After being verbally abused, the barbecue shop owner suddenly laughed, turned to ask Doctor Bai for his opinion, but Doctor Bai looked at Shen Luo: "What do you think?"

"What does this have to do with me? Shall I help you curse them out? I can curse really well." Shen Luo hardly had time to speak before the barbecue shop owner started to speed up, intentionally getting close to the car as if trying to force it to stop.

The modified car driver, fueled by alcohol, couldn’t take the provocation. After being forced to stop twice, he slammed the steering wheel and stopped his beloved car in the middle of the road, then pulled out a steel pipe from under the back seat and got out of the car.

"Do you know who I am?" The modified car driver only saw the old minivan’s barbecue shop advertisement, and woozily walked to the front of the minivan: "Today I’m going to teach you a lesson. Get out!"

The steel pipe struck the van, and the young man, fueled by alcohol, became wildly uncontrollable.

"Able to drive the most advanced modified cars, wearing top-brand clothes, and daring to drive drunk in the remote suburbs, we better not mess with this person," Shen Luo stared at the foolish kid outside the car; he had tried hard to save the other, but some people just seek their own destruction.

"Get out! Get out!" The iron rod smashed down on the car window repeatedly until the glass shattered, and the young man finally saw the scene inside the vehicle.

Faces that were twisted and sickly stared back at him, their eyes as if intending to tear him apart.

The courage from the alcohol quickly diminished in the young man, who had thought there was only a driver inside, not expecting a whole crowd of unsettling people.

With the iron rod in hand, he was uncertain whether to put it down or keep holding it, but it seemed he was used to acting recklessly. He only hesitated for a moment before starting to curse again.

However, his voice was much quieter this time, cursing as he backed away step by step.

"He seems to have a habit of looking down on people and solving problems with violence."

"Yeah, it’s amazing that such a person can own a private modified car that ordinary people can’t afford in a lifetime."

"A very nice gift, the new student should like it."

The car door opened, and the adult students of Sunday Night School stepped out, appearing just like ordinary people in everyday life, unremarkable, engaged in their jobs, living ordinary busy lives.

"What do you want to do?!"

The young man sensed trouble and sped towards his car, but because he had drunk too much, he misstepped and fell to the ground.

By the time he thought to get up, his legs were already seized by several adults.

The driver’s companion rushed down with the iron rod, but he was quickly knocked to the ground as well.

"I recently had a great idea." One of the night school members donned gloves, and they very "professionally" dragged the two young men into a nearby building.

Faint cries of agony dissipated in the night wind, occasionally mixed with the cries of stray dogs, Shen Luo fixed his stare in the direction they departed, growing increasingly uneasy.

"Stay calm, if you think about escaping, now is actually your best opportunity. Everyone has already left, and it’s just you and me here." Doctor Bai smiled, "Old Wei took the keys to the van, but the keys to the modified car should still be here. You could rush to snatch the car and then take the chance to escape."

"Why should I run away?" Shen Luo indeed had that plan, but Doctor Bai had already reached the modified car before he could execute it.

"Most people misunderstand us the first time they come here, but that’s nothing," Doctor Bai put on gloves and a mask, and grabbed the door of the modified car. "This young man is a wealthy businessman’s son, and we’ve been watching him for a week now. You might think we are the bad ones, but is a person like him truly good?"

The car door was completely opened, revealing a woman lying unconscious on the back seat, bloody.

"What did she do wrong?" Doctor Bai shook his head slightly, "She did nothing wrong, but if we hadn’t come, her fate might have been ten times worse than now."

Walking up to Shen Luo, Doctor Bai pointed at the car keys, "Guess where these two were going to take her? And guess why they came to the remote suburbs?"

Doctor Bai didn’t hand Shen Luo the keys but patted his shoulder, signaling him to follow into the nearby building.

The smell in the wind was peculiar, Shen Luo looked toward the corner of the room, his face turning pale instantly.

A stray dog had its eyes gouged out, lying on the ground and wailing; the young man’s bones were shattered earlier, twisted into a bizarre angle.

His mouth was blocked, and his eyes were scooped out, replaced with the dog’s eyes.

"The title of this piece is ’Looking Down on People’." The man who had been sitting beside Shen Luo said elegantly.

"Teacher Stone still has such good taste," Doctor Bai clapped lightly, then handed a white cloth-wrapped item to him, "Let the initiation ceremony begin."

Teacher Stone unwrapped the cloth to reveal a blunt knife, walked over to his creation, and struck it once, then passed the knife to the next person.

The injuries left by everyone weren’t fatal until at last, the blood-soaked blunt knife appeared in front of Shen Luo.

"Your turn," Doctor Bai’s gaze slowly shifted to the butterfly-shaped wound on Shen Luo’s arm, "Many people have been waiting for you, they’ve waited a long time."

"This doesn’t seem right," Shen Luo had never killed even a chicken; the largest "life" he hunted in reality was a mosquito.

"Why? He is thoroughly a bad person, sparing him will allow more people to suffer and be oppressed." Doctor Bai and the others encircled Shen Luo, exuding a profoundly terrifying pressure.

"Maybe now I can convince myself to kill a bad person, but what if I open this floodgate, will I then go on to kill those whose crimes are not worthy of death? Then go on to kill those who have made minor mistakes? Eventually, will I turn the knife on the good people?" Shen Luo couldn’t accept this, he firmly refused, but to everyone’s surprise, his hand branded with the butterfly wound unconsciously grasped the bloody blunt knife.

The perverts all looked puzzledly at Shen Luo, his mouth said he couldn’t accept it, but his hand was faster than anyone’s.

"I..." Shen Luo didn’t even wear gloves, his fingerprints were now the only ones on the blunt knife.

Realizing this, he quickly let go, but just as he was about to throw away the blunt knife, the butterfly, which had just quieted down in his head, reappeared, he could clearly feel the slowly growing butterfly desperately flapping its wings in his Brain Sea!

"The butterfly is devouring my malice, it’s growing," Shen Luo couldn’t bear the pain, and just as he was about to break down, a car horn suddenly sounded on the road outside the building.

A taxi stopped next to the two cars, the driver loudly urging the passenger to hurry back to the vehicle, but the passenger remained unmoved.
